Starring Janet Leigh has announced it will be officially disbanding after a final run of tour dates dubbed the "Lastt Call Tour" (the extra "T" is for "Let's get completely wasted!"). The band commented on the break up:
"Due to recent member changes and a drastic shift in our sound, we decided it was only fair that Starring Janet Leigh go out in style with one last kick at the can through our homeland. There are a lot of bands out there that keep the same name when they are clearly no longer the same band, and we've decided to take a different route than that. We all love what we did with SJL over the years and are sincerely going to miss it. The new album in the making is taking a very different direction than the previous release, but we're sure fans of SJL and fans of progressive metal will love it! Thanks to everyone who supported SJL the years, it means the world to us. Be sure to make it out to one of the final shows if you can, this tour is gonna be a BANGER!"

The Canadian metal outfit STARRING JANET LEIGH has just unleashed a brand new music video for the track "Ex You." The track "Ex You" is off their Ironclad Recordings debut, "Spectrum," which just came out May 12, 2009 to rave reviews from metalheads and critics alike. You can check out the new video below.
Here's what guitarist Matt Zadkovich had to say about the video for Ex You: "We wanted Ex You to be our first video because felt it to be a short & sweet, honest, in your face representation of the band and the album. It was filmed in our dank hole of a jam space, which we felt was perfect for the shoot to show who SJL is and what we're all about it. We wanted the video to showcase how the live experience with SJL is, shooting in a place we're all too familiar with. It was filmed over the course of 3 days with our good friend Mike Molloy from Static Studios here in Toronto. Mike's input on this video was invaluable and we're stoked to release it. Enjoy!"
Starring Janet Leigh will debut their new music video online for the song "Ex You" on Tuesday, October 6th. "Ex You" is taken from their most recent album "Spectrum."

We've been talking to bands to get their best pit stories. This week's is from Matthew Zadkovich, guitarist for Starring Janet Leigh:
"I was in Toronto at the Reverb for a show with the Cancer Bats (Blackmarket/Distort) and The End (Relapse). It was in the middle of The End's set and I hadn't been in a pit for a while after some older injuries nearly ruined one of my hands (not too good for a guitarist), but they're a great band and adrenaline was pumping so I figured what the hell, time to bring the mosh! I was a couple people from the front in the crammed pit and one guy up front jumped up on stage to stage dive. 'Right on,' I thought. The dude jumped right at me and instead of going on his back went face first with his fingers pointed out. All of a sudden I couldn't see and my head was spinning. I stumbled out of the pit now realizing that this guy's finger had gone about an inch into my eye socket. I found my way to the bathroom to see blood coming out of my eye socket, and I could only see out of my other eye. Nothing like seeing blood pouring out of your eye socket to make for a memorable pit injury. Amazingly my eye was ok after a few days, but that's one for the ages: middle finger one inch in my eye socket. Yikes haha!"
Next week we're going to hear from Billy Price of Unholy, who tells about playing a show for a live boxing match.
Canada's Starring Janet Leigh are currently streaming the new song "Mistress" online at their MySpace page. The track is from the band's upcoming album "Spectrum," which will be released on May 12th through Ironclad Recordings.
Canadian death metal band Starring Janet Leigh has issued the following statement about signing to Ironclad Recordings:
"Ironclad Recordings (Trevor Phipps of Unearth’s label) is pleased to announce the signing of Starring Janet Leigh. Formed in 2003, the Canadian metal act Starring Janet Leigh began with creating music the band found both interesting and challenging with no compromise to musical integrity. Fusing death metal, hardcore, and modern jazz to create a sound that can best be described as progressively technical death metal, Starring Janet Leigh’s aural onslaught is a fine blend of artistry, fury, passion and precision. Combine the band’s musical fervor and dexterity with their unforgettable live show and what you end up with is no need for gimmicks or clichés.
"We're really pleased about signing with the guys from Ironclad. It's nice to work with people who care as much about your music as you do and really wanna see it through.
"Right now we are working on a music video for the song Ex You from our forthcoming album Spectrum. We're hoping to have it ready for the album release in May 2009. Once the album is out we plan on doing as much touring as we can to bring this record to the masses with a vengeance! Get ready! Starring Janet Leigh is now poised to unleash their debut full length album Spectrum on the world, which lands in stores and online everywhere May 12th, 2009."
