Kvelertak frontman Erlend Hjelvik announces his exit from the band. In a statement issued via social media earlier he says:
“Hey, Erlend here, there is no easy way to say this, so I’ll just get straight to it.
It’s necessary for me to part ways with Kvelertak.
The experience of building a successful band has been fun and rewarding but has also been equally intense and challenging. Over the years, this has taken its toll. As we’ve been developing personally and professionally, our individual goals, needs and motivations have changed, leading us in different directions.
Though it is a heavy decision to leave a life I’ve been living and breathing for the last decade, I feel happy and excited to explore new possibilities for the future.
Regrettably, due to circumstances out of my control, I am not able to perform the last four shows in Norway this summer. I apologize to the festival organizers and fans planning on these shows.
I would like to thank Bjarte, Kjetil, Maciek, Marvin and Vidar, our crew, bands we’ve toured with and everyone else who has worked with Kvelertak. Most importantly, I appreciate our awesome fans that have made everything possible. I’m very proud and grateful for everything we’ve accomplished as Kvelertak. I am genuinely thankful for everything we’ve experienced together and wish the band the best of luck and success in the future.
Kvelertakk for meg!
Erlend Hjelvik“
Kvelertak themselves have yet to issued any official statement on how they will be proceeding in the wake of this new situation.

Kvelertak Posts "Nattesferd" Video
Roadrunner Records group Kvelertak just released an official music video for “Nattesferd,” the title track from the band's new LP that arrived this past May. The otherworldly clip - produced by Norwegian production company Bacon and directed by Jakob Marky - is streaming now below.
The video was filmed in Fårö, a Baltic Sea island off the south eastern coast of Sweden where Swedish filmmaker Ingmar Bergman lived / died and made several films, among them "Through a Glass Darkly" (1961), "Persona" (1966), "Hour of the Wolf" (1968), "Shame" (1968), "The Passion of Anna" (1969), and "Scenes from a Marriage" (1972).
Marky, a recent winner of the prestigious After Bergman Award (which allowed the possibility of filming on Fårö), commented on the video: "I wanted to make something circular, as the track has it’s never-ending guitars, coming back to haunt you. I very much liked the idea of filming science fiction on the same places that Tarkovsky and Bergman visited. I think both of them were very big fans of the golden triangle too, or so I heard.” More...

Kvelertak Posts "1985" Music Video
Roadrunner Records group Kvelertak has debuted an official music video for “1985,” the first track to be released off new LP "Nattesferd." Directed, written, and edited by longtime collaborator Fredrik S. Hana, the video for “1985” follows the track's narrative of a cold dystopian future.
Hana commented on the video: “In my third collaboration with Kvelertak, I wanted to make a music video where the story and characters took the center stage. The video revolves around a micro-community, a four man cult, where a deep and twisted friendship lies beneath it all. They don’t see themselves as a part of the normal society and decide to honor their differences in a unique fellowship.
"We follow the character’s growing addiction to push limits, and in the end, their incompetence to see any real consequences with their actions. I wanted to get across the fantastic feeling of being a part of something, but also the dangers of not daring to take a stand, to just swim along with the current.” More...
