The black metal antagonists in Woe are pleased to announce a bout of live assaults next month. Scheduled to commence September 6th and run through September 22nd, the latest run marks the band's lengthiest tour of its career. Woe will be joined by genre-crushing co-headliners Inter Arma.
Elaborates vocalist/guitarist Chris Grigg of the trek, "Not only is this Woe's longest tour to date, it is almost entirely new ground for us. We couldn't be more appreciative for this opportunity to ruin so many beautiful cities and their charming populations. We are especially glad to be teaming up with Inter Arma, one of our favorite bands in the American metal scene."
Fresh from the studio recording an as-yet-untitled new EP for Relapse, which also released the "Sky Burial" LP earlier in the year, Inter Arma will embark on a sixteen city tour in just over a week.
The action begins next Thursday, September 5th when Inter Arma provides direct support for Gorguts in Springfield, Virginia, followed by a two-week co-headlining run with Woe. Along the way Inter Arma will branch off from the Woe trek for performances at Hopscotch Festival alongside Sleep, Evoken and more, as well as Boomslang Festival with Pallbearer, Thou, Grails and Locrian.
Stay tuned for more info on the pending EP, further tour updates and more on Inter Arma throughout the duration of the year. More...
After the release of sophomore LP "Sky Burial" via Relapse in March, Richmond’s Inter Arma is already back to work in the studio.
For the next ten days, the band will be bunkered down in Madison, Tennessee-based Dark Art Studios with producer Mikey Allred -- the same surroundings and setup that captured the monolithic "Sky Burial" LP.
"There’s no title yet, but it’s a forty-plus minute piece that was originally written during the summer of 2009 and only played out a few times," stated guitarist Trey Dalton on the track. "We'll have some different people doing guest appearances (noise, synth, strings, vox, and more) as well. We’re trying to make the most completely off the wall shit yet."
Further details on the recording will be released in the coming weeks upon completion. In the meantime, Inter Arma has been confirmed to perform at a pair of late Summer stateside music festivals, including a set alongside Pig Destroyer, ASG, Sleep, Kurt Vile and more at this year’s massive Hopscotch Fest in Raleigh, North Carolina on September 5th, followed by a spot on Boomslang Festival in Lexington, Kentucky the weekend of September 20th. Inter Arma has also been confirmed to storm Holland in 2014 as part of the annual Roadburn Festival. Expect further tour actions to be announced shortly.

This week, underground music juggernaut Relapse Records reveals the release info, cover art, and more for Inter Arma’s second LP, "Sky Burial." The label comments:
"A highly anticipated release for fans of all extreme genres, Virginia’s crushing quintet Inter Arma merges elements of doom, psychedelic sludge, grind, black metal and more through massive, mighty riffs to create a sound wholly their own.
"Following several solid demos, splits and an LP via Forcefield Records, this volatile act now delivers their Relapse debut, Sky Burial, an album easily considered an early contender for heavy music record of the year, even making Decibel Magazine’s 20 Most Anticipated Albums Of 2013 list. Emerging from the ever-fertile metal breeding grounds of Richmond, Virginia, Inter Arma has spent the last few years touring relentlessly, perfecting a hypnotically punishing live show.
"Sky Burial brings that focus onto record, an album truly heavy in all senses of the word, invoking a spiritually intense journey through the halls of extreme metal. Inter Arma has made a decisively loud proclamation with Sky Burial -- this is a band that could very well be the next crown-holder in a regal line of iconic Relapse bands."
The "Sky Burial" album will see digital, CD and 2xLP North American release on March 19th, 2013, preceded by European release dates of March 15th in Germany, Benelux and Finland, and March 18th in the UK and all other territories. More...

Relapse Records is extremely proud to announce the signing of Richmond, VA’s Inter Arma. The label comments: "The group consisting of (T.J. Childers - Drums, Steven Russell - Guitars, Trey Dalton - Guitars, Mike Paparo - Vocals, Joe Kerkes - Bass) formed in 2006 and released their debut full-length Sundown via Forcefield Records in 2010. Combining a punk rock ethos with an esoteric blend of psychedelia, black metal, and doom/sludge, the quintet quickly developed a name for themselves in the underground through relentless touring and mesmerizing live performances."
The band also commented on the signing: “It's pretty crazy to think that we'll be tacitly associated with bands like Neurosis, Amorphis, Human Remains, diSEMBOWELMENT, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Incantation, Mastodon, et al. That's a pretty high standard to hold yourself to, but we'll give it our damndest."

Inter Arma plans to finish recording a second full-length and Relapse debut later this summer for an early 2013 release.
