Black Friday and Cyber Monday are a point of much contention among the metal community (with its overall disdain for consumerism, commercial whoring, and conformity) - so much so that every year Daniel Vrangsinn's (Carpathian Forest) label Misantrof even releases the "Holy Fucking ANTIChristmas" compilation in December.
Despite that, many of the underground labels do offer sales and discounts the week of Thanksgiving, so if you're looking to get some quality metal, hardcore, or rock releases on a budget, this is the time to do it - and most of it is online or digital in nature, so as a bonus, you don't have to get stomped to death by a horde of deal hunters at 5 AM!
More links will be added throughout the week as labels and distros announce their various sales, so check back in often.
If actually buying music in physical format (and especially on vinyl) is more your thing than ordering online, then RECORD STORE DAY has compiled a handy list just for you of limited run, exclusive, or Black Friday-first releases only available in stores. Peruse the full list over here.
For the digital music junkies, AMAZON.COM has dozens of $5 digital hard rock and metal albums from bands like Arch Enemy, In This Moment, White Zombie, Lamb Of God, Chimaira, and many more. The deals run through the full month of November. More...
Anaal Nathrakh has issued the following announcement about cancelling tomorrow's previously scheduled live show:
"We have some bad news. Owing to a serious family emergency in the Anaal Nathrakh ranks, we will be unable to make it to Trondheim for our show tomorrow night. Words can scarcely express how disappointed we are, and we apologize unreservedly to everyone who had bought a ticket.

"We desperately wanted to be there. But we have to put well-being first. Things are obviously in a state of turmoil at the moment, but if we can find a way to play another show in Trondheim, rest assured that we will be there like a shot.
"Disastrously disappointed regards,

English stoner rock band Orange Goblin is the latest name to be added to the 10th anniversary Damnation Festival bill.
Orange Gobline will be joined by black metal quartet Winterfylleth and post-punk outfit October File, with both bands airing material from new albums at Leeds University Union on Saturday, November 1st.
The trio of new additions bolster an impressively eclectic line-up which already boasts Bolt Thrower's only U.K. appearance, a Cannibal Corpse headline set and St. Vitus performing "Born Too Late" in full.
Orange Goblin said: "Over the last few years, Damnation has cemented itself into one of the UK's leading metal festivals, so it is a great honour to be asked back to play for a second time.
"It is already a great line up of bands, and we can't wait to be part of it."
Winterfylleth added: "We are proud to announce we will be playing Damnation Festival once again in 2014. The response we had in 2012 was mind blowing and we hope to see you all there once again. Damnation is a festival we always attend as fans regardless of playing and a must for all serious metal fans. We have a new album out a few weeks before the festival, so will be playing some exclusive new material for the first time on the day.”
October File also comments: "We are over the moon to be playing what is becoming one of the most important and special events in the UK. Damnation has worked hard to forge a name that is a must for fans and underground talent."
The line-up for Damnation Festival so far includes: Bolt Thrower, Cannibal Corpse, Saint Vitus, Raging Speedhorn, Orange Goblin, Anaal Nathrakh, Ahab, Revocation, Solstafir, Winterfylleth, H A R K, October File, Bast, Atlantis and Corrupt Moral Altar, with many more bands to be announced across four stages. More...
The organizers of the Damnation Festival have checked in with the following announcement about Ahab performing at this year's edition:
"German doom titans, Ahab, and Icelandic progressive metal outfit, Solstafir are the latest names to be added to the tenth edition of Damnation Festival. The headline set will be an exclusive UK performance by Ahab and the first the band have played outside London."
Ahab adds: "We’re delighted to celebrate our 10-year anniversary with the only Ahab UK Show 2014 at Damnation Festival. Headlining the doom stage is an honour and a great birthday present for us!"
Metal Blade Records is proud to announce the addition of Anaal Nathrakh to its roster, and the band comments:
"We are very pleased to announce our signing with Metal Blade Records. It means we are joining a roster with some truly titanic figures, and a label responsible for releasing some utterly legendary albums. Few other labels can touch their legacy in metal. With Metal Blade's reputation and clout behind us, we look forward to previously undreamed of levels of despoilment."
Anaal Nathrakh was created for one purpose - to be the soundtrack for armageddon, the audial essence of evil, hatred and violence, the true spirit of necro taken to its musical extremes.
Following the 2012 "Vanitas" album, Anaal Nathrakh is working on a new album to be released later this year via Metal Blade - stay tuned for more details!
