We now hope that someone else with the same burning passion for Swedish hard rock and metal as we have and always have had, but with a better geographical location, will take over our idea and concept!

We would like to take the opportunity to thank all the bands that have played at the festival as well as everyone that has supported us during the years!

Meshuggah Reveals "Catch 33" Tracklisting

Swedish experimental extreme metallers Meshuggah have posted the following message on their official web site:

Dear friends/fans/accidental metal-browsing drop-ins! Ridiculous long since last, we know! Just wanted to leave some long overdue droppings on the never-shiny plate that is Meshuggah news! We have quite a few European dates set (will be posted shortly in tour section). Among those are both club dates as well as bigger festivals etc. We don't know yet if we'll be coming over to tour the U.S this spring/summer! It's still pending and if we get good offers it might happen! If not, we'll at least look into coming over this fall!

As most of you have probably figured out, "Catch 33" is not really a 'live material' album, but more of an experiment of sorts! So, if we'd come over to the U.S now, we'd be playing pretty much the same set as last time and we'd much rather be coming over with a fresh new set after completion of coming full-length! (no working title yet). Still, as I said — it may very well happen for "Catch 33" as well!

We understand that the album or at least parts of it has leaked out! Not really a big surprise! It always seems to happen to us! Still, we're trusting and hoping that you guys will all still buy it once it's released!

We have a company working on a video for the title 'Shed', but the progress is a bit slow at the moment so we don’t really know how it's turning out! We'll keep you updated on the progress of it!

"Catch 33" is due on May 16 in Europe and May 31 in the U.S. The follow-up to 2002's "Nothing" contains one continuous 47-minute song divided into 13 parts and is said to be "musically the opposite" of the group's 2004 EP, "I."

"Catch 33" (view cover) track listing:

01. Autonomy Lost
02. Imprint Of The Un-Saved
03. Disenchantment
04. The Paradoxical Spiral
05. Re-Inanimate
06. Entrapment
07. Mind's Mirrors
08. In Death - Is Life
09. In Death - Is Death
10. Shed
11. Personae Non Gratae
12. Dehumanization
13. Sum

The artwork, which was designed by Meshuggah drummer Tomas Haake, is "a visual compliment of sorts to the album title, i.e the paradoxes/negations/contradictions of life and death (as we see it in our finest moments of unrestrained metaphoric interpretation) that the lyrics deal with!" according to Haake.

Hi all and sorry for this e x t r e m e l y long time of no updates about "Catch 33"!
Nah.. we´re not sorry actually, you should know us by now... and we got more important things to do than write useless information on the news..hehe, we´ve been doing the same fucking thing all this time - workingwithcatchthirtythree - so we don´t wanna repeat ourselfs right?!

Anyway, we just wanna tell you guys that we are on the l.a.s.t. couple of weeks work, "just" some pieces in the puzzle that needs to be forced to fit with some help from the crowbar of love... some mixing and then we should be done. We said "should" didn´t we..??

The song is of course a smashing radio hit and should be in the top 3 most aired songs ever within 2 weeks time.

"Alone In The Dark" Tracklisting Revealed

Nuclear Blast has announced the tracklisting of "Alone in the Dark," the original motion picture soundtrack inspired and from the movie. "Alone in the Dark" is based on the best-selling Atari video game series of the same name. The soundtrack will feature some of today’s best Metal bands such as Dimmu Borgir, Shadows Fall, Fear Factory, Machine Head amongst others, and it will be featured on a double disc format. This is the first time a Hollywood production receives an all Extreme Metal soundtrack. The release date for the soundtrack has been set for January 25, 2005.

Edward Carnby (Christian Slater) is a private investigator specializing in unexplainable supernatural phenomena. His cases delve into the dark corners of the world, searching for truth in the occult remnants of the ancient civilizations. Now, the greatest mystery of his past is about to become the most dangerous case he has ever faced. With the help of his ex-flame, archeologist Aline Cedrac (Tara Reid), and his bitter rival, government agent Richard Burke (Stephen Dorff), Edward Carnby is about to learn that just because you don’t believe in something, that doesn’t mean it can’t kill you. New Meshuggah Album Release Date Tentatively Set

Nuclear Blast Records has set an April 11, 2005 tentative European release date for the new Meshuggah studio album, "Catch 33".

In a recent interview with the Chronicles of Chaos extreme music webzine, Meshuggah drummer Tomas Haake said of the upcoming CD, "It's not a proper full-length if you will, more like an experimental full-length. Like [the recently issued EP] 'I', it will be one single song, but at full-length. It's going to be much more guitar riff based than anything we have ever done as well, so there won't be as much of the drumming that kind of throws you off — just more straightforward, but at the same time totally insane riffing. . . It's definitely experimental and we're not telling people that this is the next official full-length. If you're looking for another 'Chaosphere' or another 'Nothing' that contains a bunch of different songs, then this is probably not the album that you want to buy, but if you're interested in anything that we're doing then it's something you should check out. Like I said, I'm sure that Meshuggah fans will love it. It's definitely a step to the side of what we're doing right now."

Behemoth Complete Work On Demigod

Polish black metal outfit Behemoth have completed work on their new album, "Demigod", for a fall release. The group's frontman Nergal has just finished mixing the album at Dug-Out studios in Uppsala, Sweden with Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, In Flames). Mastering duties were handled at the Cutting Room studios in Stockholm.

Commented Nergal: "Working with Daniel was awesome. Things went pretty smooth and we completed all the mixes within two weeks. It seems like this move was essential for us... The sound has never been so intense and fresh. Bergstrand brought a lot of new ideas into our music and I'm more than sure that 'Demigod' gained a new dimension. It was so much vital and necessary to have someone else involved in the production process than ourselves. It's great to work with somebody who has great experience and knows how to deal with the band like ours. I mean...this guy has worked with [some] of the biggest extreme metal bands around like Meshuggah, Strapping Young Lad or In Flames. I think it speaks for itself... "
He added: "It's the new beginning for us. 'Demigod', with all its might and splendor, rises above anything we've done before...Don't get me wrong. I love our previous works, but with this record, it feels like we've been locked in a dark room all this time, and now we came out and saw the light...I believe we achieved the best song writing and best production we could. Having such a great and supporting labels behind our back let us release new creativity and make something we haven't done before. In my opinion 'Demigod' is a way more extreme record than 'Zos Kia Cultus' but on the other hand it contains more classic influences...more eerie harmonies and catchiness. It's still difficult for me to get a right distance to this album as I've been working on it for last few months with no break and no rest. It still surprises me where all this enthusiasm comes from after all the energy I spent on this record ha ha..."
"Demigod" track listing:
01. Sculpting The Throne Ov Seth
02. Demigod
03. Conquer All (mp3 clip)
04. The Nephilim Rising
05. Towards Babylon
06. Before Aeons Came
07. Mysterium Coniunctionis (Hermanubis)
08. XUL
09. Slaves Shall Serve (mp3 clip)
10. The Reign Ov Shemsu-Hor

"Demigod" is tentatively scheduled for release this fall on Regain Records in Europe, Mystic Records in Poland, Raven Music in Israel and Irond in Russia. A U.S. release is planned for early 2005.

Meshuggah Part Ways With Bassist

Swedish experimental extreme metal band MESHUGGAH have parted ways with bassist Gustaf Hielm and have replaced him with Dick Löwgren (ex-IN FLAMES, ARCH ENEMY).

"I'm saddened that they don't want me in there anymore but this is the second time I'm asked to leave so I can handle it by now," Gustaf said in a statement. "And most important, I'm still playing! That will never go away."

"As for MESHUGGAH, I'm glad I got to be in what I consider THE metal band and I wish them and their new bass player the best of luck. "

"And you, the fans and listeners... I don't think there are words enough to explain my gratitude towards you. And even if there were there isn't a monitor big enough to justify the font size I'd like to use for my THANK YOU!!! You single-handedly turned seven years of my life into some of the most exciting ones and I will never forget it! Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you and THANK YOU!!!"

As previously reported, MESHUGGAH have entered the studio to begin recording their much-anticipated new EP, tentatively due late spring through Fractured Transmitter Records (the label formed by MUSHROOMHEAD vocalist Jason Mann). The one-song disc, which will reportedly clock in at over 20 minutes, is being recorded at the Swedish studio jointly owned by MESHUGGAH and long-running rap-metal act CLAWFINGER.

MESHUGGAH have fulfilled their contractual obligations to Nuclear Blast Records and are currently weighing their label options before recording their next full-length album. The group's last release was the highly acclaimed 2002 effort, "Nothing".
