Denver's Cryogen has issued the following announcement about recruiting a new guitar player:
"We're happy to welcome Chris Ghigliotty to the Cryogen family! He will be filling the second guitar spot. We felt freeing up Darkness to focus on vocals was the best move for the band and will help us achieve a tighter live sound. Chris was the best fit out of everyone we auditioned for the spot. Chris comes from former Colorado metal band Followed by Silence, who our drummer Aaron was a part of as well.
"Chris joined us at our CD release for his first show with the band. You can find more pics from the show HERE."
Denver's Cryogen has issued the following statement about the release date of their new EP:
"Our new EP 'Despara' will be released Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009 on Dark Millennium Records. Preorder today and get a link to download the title track 'Mirror Entropy' right away! CLICK HERE!"
Cryogen has issued the following update about finishing the recording of their new EP:
"In case anyone doesn't follow us on Twitter (@CRYOGENband), the new EP is 100% complete. After a slightly extended mixing/mastering session last week at Flatline Audio, we got the final product which has really turned out amazing! For this release, we pushed for a less 'controlled' sound than Dave usually gets from us. The result was a more open and punishing production which really compliments where our songwriting is right now. I can also say that the drums really shine on this record more than on any other we've released (both performance and production), and the string parts will surprise you!
"Phil's finishing up with the cover art which we're excited to unveil and weave into a new Myspace layout. Once this is done, sound clips and pre-orders can begin. SPREAD THE WORD! "
The track listing for "Despara" will be as follows:
1. Mirror Entropy
2. The Hidden
3. Divine Hallucination
Denver's Cryogen has issued the following update regarding their new EP:
"The new EP is comin along and we can't wait to finish up at Flatline Audio and get this thing out! In the meantime, we'd like to update everybody on the details. The EP will be titled 'Despara' and will clock in at more than 20 minutes. This is by far the heaviest, most technical album we've ever done. Expect a new level of vocal intensity from both Mike and Darkness!"
"As for album art, we've once again enlisted the talented Phil Fensterer. He did the art and layout for Psalms of Deceit and we know the new stuff will be brutal!" More...
Denver's Cryogen has issued the following recording update:
"Just wanted to fill everyone in on what's happening with us this summer. We've been bustin our asses for most of '09 working on a new 4-song demo that we're recording with Dave Otero starting Monday, June 15! These songs easily represent the most intense, technical material we've ever written, and we've been spending a ton of time trying to make everything as musical as possible. We guarantee this won't sound like math metal..." More...
Cryogen released their new EP, "Psalms of Deceit," online as a "pay what you want" download this Tuesday, February 17th. You can download the EP through CRYOGEN’s online music store.
Cryogen comments: “We’re leaving it up to our fans to decide what the album is worth.”
The band states more formally:
"The main distribution method of this EP will be through our website, http://www.cryogenband.com/music. We are offering our fans the opportunity to pay what they want for our new EP. That includes paying nothing. We’re leaving that decision up to each individual, and we’re happy to be the first extreme metal band to do that.
"We feel that this is the future of music distribution and that there is no better time to do this than right now. While record labels sit in fear of losing sales to piracy, we believe it’s up to independent bands, like CRYOGEN, to help pave a new way of distributing music.
"We hope you enjoy the music,
Denver's Cryogen has announced that Mike, their bassist, has left the band to join Allegaeon. The band is currently seeking a replacement.
Cryogen comments on the situation, "As some people in the Denver scene may have noticed, our bassist Mike has been filling in for Allegaeon for the past couple months and they've collectively decided to make him a permanent member. We're all behind Mike 100% and think he's a great fit for the band."
"Mike will stay with us for the shows we currently have booked, but we're looking for a more long-term replacement." More...
