Latest Almah News
Below is our complete Almah news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
Since its inception, Almah - led by former Angra singer Edu Falaschi - has been receiving attention worldwide as one of the most significant bands from Brazil. Falaschi has sold more than 1 million albums in his 25 year career.
Today, the band announced the fifth studio release entitled "E.V.O." The album will be issued worldwide next month. "E.V.O. was recorded in São Paulo, Brazil at IMF studios by Tito Falaschi and was mixed and mastered by Damien Rainaud (Fear Factory, Dragonforce, Baby Metal, etc) at Mix Unlimited in Los Angeles, California/USA.
This will be a conceptual album, which is based in the evolution of mankind's mind and soul during the new age which the world is about to live....the Age of Aquarius. Falaschi visited different subjects which connect to the main concept, creating both positive lyrics and total album atmosphere.
Musically, "E.V.O" brings forth a fresh and powerful album, with all the modern and heavy aspects of every Almah release, along with something more. The compositions are a pleasant journey between the modern power metal, contemporary rock and progressive metal.
Long time fans will quickly realize that "E.V.O." has a direct connection with the "Rebirth" album from Angra (the first Angra album featuring Falaschi in 2001). In "E.V.O." the vocal lines are very powerful, classical with a higher pitch compared with Almah's previous albums. It's very melodic, clean and more in the bel canto style like the old times. Daybreak…..September 10th. Going out to the Artmore the previous evening was lame by comparison to the rest of the weekend. Though sold out, the Mid-Week Mayhem show after party just isn’t as big because many of the fans and musicians haven’t arrived to the area quite yet, so a 3:00am turn in time may as well have been midnight.
Waking at 7:00am, I trudged over to the Residence Inn’s quality free hot breakfast on floor 2. Today was the day….it would all hang on Dragonland – the band I’ve been lusting over since the announcement came a year ago. The Kick-Off event has always been a special occasion, but since Nathan Block of Swordlord took over, the bar has been raised dramatically…for me. That is, if you are a power metal fanboy, Nathan is your man. More...
Canadian label Test Your Metal Records is proud to announce the signing of internationally known Brazilian singer and composer Edu Falaschi for the release of his best-of 25th anniversary CD "Moonlight Celebration," where he will be singing acoustic versions of the most significant songs of his career.
Test Your Metal's Grant Truesdell comments: "I am beyond honoured to be working with Edu Falaschi for his 25th year anniversary album. Between Angra, Almah and any solo work he's done, I have been a fan of his music for a long time. I'm looking forward to bringing him to North America and welcoming him into the Test Your Metal family."
The album is slated for a November 20 release date and features older and more recent hits from Symbols, Angra and Almah. In addition to the CD's release, Falaschi will be hitting the road for a North American "Moonlight Celebration" tour (dates to be announced).
On that trek, he will be accompanied by Brazilian jazz / pop music pianist Tiago Mineiro and will also be joined by maestro and violinist Adriano Machado, creator and conductor of the Symphonic Orchestra Villa Lobos. More...
ProgPower USA promoter Glenn Harveston announced that Andorra's Persefone is the latest band to be cancelled from the 2015 roster, in part due to visa issues. The USCIS has reared its ugly head causing the most issues since 2009 for the annual festival.
Harveston explains: "Unfortunately, this situation is not a simple as the Morgana Lefay cancellation, although the visa process is once again at the root of things. It is no secret now the USCIS center in Vermont is running 4-6 weeks behind their normal schedule assuming there is no RFE (request for evidence). We technically still have three weeks we can wait to receive these visas and then schedule the mandatory interviews. However, Persefone booked a European tour in June with the assumption they would have completed the interviews prior to kicking off their tour. They cannot complete any interviews while on tour. I requested they wait until after the tour and then complete the interviews as there was still possibly time. I was informed the day job of one of the band members prevents him from traveling to Madrid during that time frame, especially with no specific date to schedule currently. Thus, I am left with no choice but to cancel the band now.
"I know these types of explanations are frustrating to you, the fans. There is simply nothing that can be done. In the immortal words of the great American poet, Jimmy Buffett, 'Breathe in..Breathe Out..Move On.' Please know that there is no animosity between the band and myself. I truly understand and empathize with their situation. I wish the band nothing but the best and will continue to support them in the future."
Within hours of the announcement, Canada's Unleash the Archers was added to the bill. The latest roster list is as follows: More...
Legendary hard rock/metal vocalist Jeff Scott Soto (Talisman, T.S.O., ex-Yngwie Malmsteen) has been confirmed for the sold-out ProgPower USA festival this year in Atlanta, Georgia, replacing Sweden's Morgan Lefay, who became the latest victim of the USICS Visa System. In a special performance, Jeff will celebrate his entire 30 year career at the festival performing songs from many of his bands along the way, including Talisman, Yngwie Malmsteen, Axel Pell Rudi, W.E.T., Rock Star, as well as his solo releases.
Jeff stated: "Having known about the ProgPower USA fest for years, I'm proud to be invited to present the ONLY US show this year with my 30th anniversary show! Me and the boys couldn't be more excited to rock Atlanta!"
Promoter Glenn Harveston added: "I’m honestly still in awe Jeff has graciously stepped up to the plate to help us out at the last minute. I can say I have never had such an amazing and quick conversation with an artist when it comes to booking a band. That is not only a sign of a true professional, but someone wanting to perform for our festival audience. Nothing fires up this crowd more than knowing a legendary name like Jeff Scott Soto actually wants to be in Atlanta. I'd also like to thank Sun Hill Management for the great response time."
Jeff Scott Soto recently took part in the sold out T.S.O./Savatage two stage spectacle at Wacken this past weekend. His latest solo release "Inside the Vertigo," under the monikor Soto, was released by earMusic back in January. More...
D.C. Cooper, vocalist for Royal Hunt, has pulled out of the ProgPower USA Kick off show in Atlanta, GA, set for September 10th at Center Stage, citing an undisclosed reason. Just today, it was revealed on Saxon's Facebook Page that the band along with Armored Saint will replace Cooper and play with previously announced acts Dragonland and Almah. The official announcement from Swordlord Productions and ProgPower USA was expected for noon EST today.
The pull out does not affect Cooper's performance of Royal Hunt on the main festival roster. The statement reads: "It is with great disappointment and sadness the we are announcing the cancellation of the DC Cooper solo performance at the 2105 Atlanta ProgPowerUSA Kick-Off Party on Sept. 10th 2015.. Due to circumstances beyond his control, or anyone elses control, DC Cooper had to make this tough decision to withdraw from the Kick-Off Concert. Hopefully, we will be able to elaborate more on the situation in the near future. But,at this time, this is all the information we have.
"DC Cooper wishes to convey the following message,...'I want to thank everyone involved for their professionalism and enthusiasm that helped bring this together up to this point. Nathan Block and his festival team, Dave Watson, Kenny Porter Julian Nieser, and many others! Thank you, and my sincere apologies! Especially my warmest Thanks to the fans and friends who were to attend. Your support is never-ending and much appreciated!'"
"DCE/Studio747 wants to also convey. The ProgPower USA performance of Royal Hunt on Sept. 12th, 2015 WILL NOT BE AFFECTED!, in any way at all. Royal Hunt will perform their highly acclaimed and successful album, 'Paradox' in its entirety on Saturday night! This still will be a performance that should not be missed!
"One last note,....The DC Cooper solo cd with TEAM DC is in full swing and coming along nicely with incredible results! The TEAM hopes to have an early fall release if all goes well. The team has been working tirelessly on the production, and it has now become the highest priority!
"Thank you all so much once again to everyone! I will see you in Atlanta,...still,...for PPGUSA2015!" More...

Former Almah guitarist Paul Schroeber, died at age 40 yesterday in Our Lady Mediatrix Hospital in Caxias do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil after he was hospitalized for several days for a ICU treatment.
Schroeber received a reconfiguration procedure cardiac device - similar to a pacemaker, which had no effect and a transplant was needed. Schroeber suffered from an enlarged heart, which caused accumulation of water in the lungs which caused difficulty in breathing.
The band released the following statement (translated using Bing): "We are deeply sad and Almah's shaken with the news that our brother Paulo Schroeber music died. Paul, as well as an extremely gifted musician was a single person, a kindness and a good mood genuinely special. The strength and the naturalness with which he dealt with his painting was one of many admirable characteristics. The man was prematurely, and as if adivinhássemos, we dedicate the show yesterday, in Florianopolis, to him. Get the lesson and the work, which proudly we recorded together on two albums. So little for what could still be done, but more than enough to ever be forgotten by us, ex-bandmates or by fans. Paul, thanks for the friendship and the music we share. Keep fingers in shape, one day we will have a sound again. ;)" More...

Brazilian metal act Almah announced that it will release its new music video for the song "Days of the New" on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 3:00pm EST/15-00 CET. The song is the fourth video for the band's latest LP "Motion" and it will come via the band's official YouTube Channel.
The clip was recorded by Valter Reis and Gildasio Chagas from DV Produções, edited and produced by Alex Milesi, who was responsible for the previous two videos “Trace Of Trait” and “Late Night in ’85".
“Motion” was released in October 2011 via AFM Records (Europe, North America) and through Victor JVC in Japan. This CD defined the proper style of the band with heavier elements and aggressive parts. In May 2012, Edu Falaschi announced his departure from Angra to concentrate on Almah. In addition, Almah previously welcomed guitarist Gustavo Di Pádua into the band for the outgoing Paulo Schroeber. At the moment, the band is composing new stuff for the next studio effort.
Vocalist Edu Falaschi announced that he has departed Brazilian power/progressive metal band Angra. He also announced that Felipe Andreoli is no longer with his band Almah. Falashi posted the following note on his official website:
"Dear friends, fans and partners,
"There comes a moment in a man’s life when it is necessary to make a radical decision in order to move forward with dignity and renewed energy.
"I’m in a very happy moment, where now, at age 40, I’m fulfilled and incredibly satisfied to have succeeded in making almost all my personal and professional dreams come true.
"I have a beautiful family, many wonderful friends and fans who have followed me for over 20 years and a lasting career with more than 15 albums released, several world tours and thousands of copies sold worldwide.
"I am a lucky person to have made ?it this far, singing Heavy Metal and been around the planet playing the music I love the most.
"I've been thinking for some time now, about the path to follow and finally came to the conclusion that it is time to take the more natural road.
"It is with a mixture of relief, joy and sadness that I have to declare that from today on I am not the voice of ANGRA anymore, I'm leaving the band already missing a lot of what we built together, specially the happy times of Rebirth and Temple of Shadows. I will never forget everything that we experienced from good to bad times, after all we must always look at the good side of things, even when things are most difficult.
"I am eternally grateful for those 10 years of many victories and for all the opportunities given to me, I wish them luck on their journeys.
"Whenever they want or need I will be around and ready to support them! I am and will always be very proud of our history! My life is music and music is the food to my soul. I have many plans and projects for the future! Some of them are already well established, strong and generating excellent results and so, they demand and deserve my full dedication, and of all the people involved in it. That's why I also want to announce that Felipe Andreoli is not the Almah's bass-player anymore! He will keep working only with Angra and his other projects!
"I will go on with my ideals and my career as a singer, songwriter and producer. Thank you all, with love...
Brazilian metallers Almah have issued the following statement about the departure of guitarist Paulo Schroeber due to health problems:
"Dear Almah friends and fans! I think many of you already know about health problems that our brother, partner and member of the band, Paulo Schroeber, has recently faced. Due to these problems we had to call another guitarist to replace him at the latest Almah shows during Motion tour, but we always hoped that Paulo would be with us again very soon.
"Unfortunately, a very serious heart problem made it impossible for our friend to continue his work for a long term, and we received his message that he had to leave the band! All of us became extremely sad but at the same moment we respect his decision to stay with his family at such a delicate moment.
"For us, there remains only one thing: to keep public our eternal support, love and, most of all, gratitude for all the great moments we had together! We are very happy to know that his treatment is going on and the prognosis is positive. The band is here with all its energy and now it's even stronger because we do what we love and 'cos we respect all the dedication of our friend Paulo over these years of hard work and fun. More...
