Batillus Issues Tour Update

New York doom metallers Batillus have issued the following tour update:

"Hey friends (and enemies),

"Our tour with Hull and Salome is coming together nicely, but there are still a few TBAs we'd like to eliminate as soon as possible. We especially need help with the following shows:

9/13 @ TBA - Richmond, VA
9/14 @ TBA - Greensboro, NC or Virginia Beach, VA
9/20 @ TBA - Louisville or Lexington, KY
9/26 @ TBA - Pittsburgh, PA

"Let us know if you can help. We're totally down to play house shows or basements or backyards or skate ramps or warehouses or whatever.

"Also, if you can offer us a place to crash any night of the tour we will pay you back by not drinking ALL your beer... And for those of you in New York, we have a show tomorrow (Friday, August 21) with Bloody Panda, Liturgy, and Castevet. At Union Pool. It should be a good time."

Batillus Announces New Vocalist Fade Kainer

Batillus has issued the following statement about bringing on a vocalist and preparing to record new material:

"Hello everyone,

"Batillus is now a four-piece -- Fade Kainer of Inswarm (and Jarboe's touring band) is now on board, handling vox/synths/samples. His talents have completed our sound, and we've written lots of new material to give your eardrums the beating they deserve.

"You can check out a clip of our first show as a four-piece here.

"At the end of June, we will be playing three very special shows with our good friends in Riff Cannon and Elder:

6/26 @ 101 Hooker Street - Allston, MA | 9pm | $FREE | ALL AGES
6/27 @ Sweatshop - Providence, RI | details TBA *
6/28 @ Bar - New Haven, CT | 8pm | $FREE | 21+

"NOTE: we will revert to our original instrumental trio lineup for the show in Providence only-- expect extra-heavy-riffing, including our exploration in minimalism, 'Tunguska,' which you can download from Brooklyn Vegan here.

"We plan to hit the studio some time in July to record some new songs with our new lineup, so look for some new material to start surfacing later in the summer / fall."

Ocean, Salome To Play Show No Mercy Concert

On the heels of "Pantheon Of The Lesser," their second album for Important Records, and subsequent features in Decibel, Metal Maniacs, and Terrorizer, Portland, Maine quartet OCEAN is joining Virginia trio SALOME (featuring members of AGORAPHOBIC NOSEBLEED) for a night of epic doom February 15 at Brooklyn, New York's Public Assembly (formerly Galapagos) as part of the third installment of Pitchfork's monthly SHOW NO MERCY Showcase. (The first two events were headlined by Nachtmystium/Velnius and Skeletonwitch/Cannabis Corpse, respectively.)

OCEAN and SALOME will be joined by Boston riff rockers RIFF CANNON and Brooklyn's own icy minimalist doom crew BATILLUS. Future SHOW NO MERCY events will include Tombs, Crucifier, Wetnurse, Krieg, and Krallice, among others.

Each month, artist SELDON HUNT (Neurosis, Khanate, Jesu, Isis, etc.) will create original SHOW NO MERCY flyer designs. The series is organized by BRANDON STOSUY, who writes Pitchfork's monthly metal column, SHOW NO MERCY.

You can view the latest flier here and get more information on the show here.
