These Are They Announces New Album
Chicago’s These Are They is set to release the band's sophomore full-length, "Disposing of Betrayers," on September 14, 2010 through Unruly Sounds/The End Records. The album was recorded at Belle City Sound in Milwaukee, WI with producer Chris Wisco (Michael Angelo Batio, Dirge Within, Jungle Rot) and mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö (Hail of Bullets, Edge of Sanity, Nightingale) at Unisound in Örebro, Sweden.
The five-piece band began writing "Disposing of Betrayers" soon after the 2009 release of the debut album "Who Linger." The band pays tribute to Devastation on the album with a cover of the track "Cranial Hemorrhage.” These Are They also invited original guitarist Erv Brautigam and vocalist Duane Rasmussen to join in on the recording. Erv created a solo for the song (which was not part of the original track) and Duane lent his vocal talent.
"The process of writing this CD was quite unique,” said vocalist Paul Kuhr. “We knew exactly where we needed to go musically. The lyrical subject matter had to be approached more carefully. Taking a topic like Chicago crime history, and still making it a death metal record, posed more of a challenge for Steve and me, who wrote all the lyrics. I think the crushing production, aggressive riffing and drumming, and the interesting topic all came together to create what I feel is an amazing recording. I'm quite proud of this one." More...

These Are They Signs To The End Records
The End Records has issued the following statement about signing These Are They:
"Formed in May of 2008, THESE ARE THEY—a Chicago-based death metal band featuring vocalist Paul Kuhr (Novembers Doom), guitarist Steve Nicholson (ex-Novembers Doom), bassist Wiley Wells (Earthen) and drummer Sasha Horn (Trials)—entered the metal scene with an unrelenting aural assault.
Thirteen years after departing Novembers Doom, Nicholson reunited with Kuhr in 2008 in order to create something new and fresh. With the help of Wells, along with good friends Mike LeGros (Disinter, Earthen) and drummer Evan Berry, a musical style was chosen, material was written, and THESE ARE THEY recorded their debut EP, Who Manifest. Recorded, mixed and mastered at Belle City Sound with Chris Wisco at the helm, the EP instantly took on a life of its own.
Guitar driven, down tuned and powerful, the material is old school Chicago death metal with flashes of Bolt Thrower, Obituary, and Entombed and contains more headbanging hook than you can shake a fist at. More...
