Graf Orlock today premieres new single "Difficult Decisions in the Yutani Mess Hall," a track off the upcoming "Crime Traveler" full-length due out February 5th on the band's own Vitriol Records. Listen in below, courtesy of MetalSucks.net.
Graf Orlock has spent more than a decade honing its Black Flag-meets-Slayer blast punk approach and the sound is represented perfectly on this newest track. Also in full effect here are the movie samples for which Graf Orlock is famous – the band is notorious for taking all its samples, lyrics, titles, and imagery directly from Hollywood blockbusters like RoboCop and Alien.
But there is a twist here: all the samples on "Crime Traveler" come from an as-yet-unreleased film the Graf Orlock members wrote, directed, and starred in themselves. More...

Graf Orlock has returned with a new seven-inch, "Trailer," which is the band's first new music since 2012's "Los Angeles" EP.
Noisey is now streaming "A Decent Proposal in a Shitty Alley," a track off "Trailer," which can be heard in the player provided below.
Graf Orlock's Hollywood obsession runs deep – all lyrics, song titles, and artwork are derived from big screen hits and misses of the '80s and '90s, which the band feels doubles as social commentary. "Looking at issues through the lens of film... shows how fucked up things are," guitarist Jason Schmidt has stated.
The songs on "Trailer" will also appear on Graf Orlock's next LP, "Crime Traveler," in the works now for a Fall release. You can also catch the band live:

In honor of the release, Vice's music channel Noisey.com has posted an interview with Graf Orlock guitarist/mastermind Jason Schmidt and an exclusive premiere of the "Los Angeles" epic closer, "Quick on the Trigger." Read the interview and stream the track right here. The following press release was also issued:
"World-renowned for their celluloid-obsessed hardcore, sometimes dubbed 'cinema-grind,' LA's Graf Orlock bases their work primarily on action flicks of the 80s and 90s. Of the band's concept and sound, MetalSucks has declared, 'Not only is their music as mercilessly murderous as you'd want it to be, but their incorporation of elements from action films in brilliant.'
"Also revered for the elaborate artwork and packaging of their releases - last year's Doombox EP was given the title 'Packaging of the Century' by Revolver Magazine - Graf Orlock continues the trend with Los Angeles, whose cover art consists of three separate 'shooting range targets' riddled with actual bullet holes. Fresh off a tour of Japan, Graf Orlock embark on a full European tour in June."

To date, the globe-trotting L.A. band has played Japan, Indonesia, Australia, Puerto Rico, Canada, and almost every country in Europe. Graf Orlock's new EP, "Los Angeles," is due out April 10th on Vitriol Records. Of Graf Orlock's Hollywood-obsessed hardcore, sometimes referred to as "cinema-grind", MetalSucks has declared, "Not only is their music as mercilessly murderous as you'd want it to be, but their incorporation of elements from action films in brilliant."
Known for the band's next-level artwork - last year's "Doombox" EP was housed in a full-size fold-out "boombox" and was named "Packaging of the Century" by Revolver Magazine - Graf Orlock continues to amaze with "Los Angeles," whose three collectible covers are "shooting range targets" shot up with actual bullets.
MetalSucks has premiered Graf Orlock's new track, "Couples Seeking Comfort/No Point," the first new music to be revealed off the band's upcoming EP, "Los Angeles." Head over to MetalSucks here to check out the song.

MetalSucks has also unveiled the "Los Angeles" cover art, consisting of three separate covers, each a "shooting range target" depicting a scene from Michael Mann's Heat and riddled with bullet holes. As with previous Graf Orlock releases (including last year's "Doombox," which earned the title of "Packaging of the Century" from Revolver Magazine), the "Los Angeles" artwork was created entirely by the band.
With Los Angeles set for an April 10th release on Vitriol Records, Graf Orlock prepares for yet another year of DIY world touring, including Japan in the spring and Europe in the summer. Dates are as follows: More...
We've been talking to bands and fans everywhere to get their favorite mosh pit stories. Last week's story focused on drinking, so this week let's take it up a notch to drugs. Jason Schmidt of California metalers Graf Orlock, shares his story from a remote corner of Australia:
Orange, New South Wales, Australia, June 2010. Graf Orlock and Dangers were doing a 3 week tour of this fair former penal colony, roughly 160 miles west of Sydney with a burgeoning population of 31,000. We played a rowdy and entertaining house show there, which was of particular historical interest because it appeared NO bands from out of town had ever played there. Whilst the mid-song running and punching was in full fiasco, there appeared to be an injured kid lying in the back of the room. Not only was this kid lying down, his face was a Violet Beauregarde color blue, and small tremors seemed to take over his half naked body. The ambulance people were called, his mom arrived, and his minor drug-induced seizure was put to rest in short order. Since then this house has been christened 'Seizure's Palace' and remains a highlight of our summer (winter) abroad.
Graf Orlock's new EP, "Doombox," is out January 18, 2011 on Vitriol Records. Known for insane artwork and elaborate packaging, Graf Orlock steps it up once again with Doombox -- a 30"x10"x10" fold-out cardstock "boombox" that houses the Doombox EP on CD and vinyl, plus a bonus CD containing Graf Orlock's entire "Destination Time" trilogy. Also known for its far-flung DIY world touring, Graf Orlock has repeatedly toured Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Europe, Puerto Rico, Canada, and the US, all on its own dime.
Check out some of their music on the band's official MySpace page.
Check back every Tuesday for more pit stories.
