Volbeat Cancels North American Tour Dates

Danish heavy metal/rock and rollers Volbeat has announced that due to COVID-19 pandemic, the band has been forced to cancel their scheduled tour of North America with Clutch and The Picturebooks. A statement from the band reads as follows:

"We hate to be another band starting a post with ‘due to the current circumstances,’ so instead we will say how much we were looking forward to the US headline leg of the Rewind, Replay, Rebound tour. Coming to see you in your hometowns with a full-length Volbeat set and getting to play alongside Clutch and The Picturebooks, two amazing bands we are lucky enough to call friends, was going to be a major highlight for the band. We, alongside our team, the local promoters and venues have all been working hard to try to reschedule these shows but as the timing for the safe return of live events is still unclear, we feel it is best to cancel the tour.

"Again, we can’t say enough how much we were looking forward to this run, and we will make plans to be back in North America as soon as it is safe for stages to open back up. Please keep an eye on your inboxes as you will soon be receiving information about ticket refunds from your point of purchase.’

"In the meantime, please continue to stay safe, take care of yourselves and each other, and we’ll see each other again as soon as we can."

Former Clutch Keyboardist Passes Away

Former Clutch keyboardist Mick Schauer has passed away, the band has revealed. While no details of his death have been revealed as of yet, the group paid tribute to their former comrade who was a member of the band from 2005 to 2008. A statement from Clutch reads as follows:

"We are saddened to hear the news of Mick Schauer’s passing. Mick was an incredible talent and he will be missed. His contribution to the albums Robot Hive Exodus and From Beale Street to Oblivion brought a new sound to the band at a time when the band sought to stretch into new territory. Mick helped us to achieve those goals and more. He was also a powerful force at our live shows. His natural ability was unmatched and his love for the music made us all play better. We are grateful for having had the opportunity to make music with you Mick!"

Clutch Rocks The Earth In Bristol

As time goes by, Maryland rockers Clutch has developed more and more of a legendary status. While each album solidifies that claim, it's the live setting where the band really shines, making even festival slots feel small and comfortable. Last December, the band embarked on a headlining run of the United Kingdom, with many shows being sold out and where their latest album, "Book Of Bad Decisions" has received widespread praise by journalists. Having only seen the band at the Graspop Metal Meeting festival, I traveled to Bristol to check out the quartet in a smaller setting. Here's what happened...

Opening the show tonight was our first duo, from Mont-de-Marsan, in the south west of France, The Inspector Cluzo. It should be noted that besides Clutch, neither support band can really be classed as metal and even Inspector Cluzo's Facebook description classifies them as "soul/fuck and roll," which I'm not too sure I agree with quite frankly. In any case, those who arrived early for the show were treated to a fantastic display of musical madness. The hard rocking cabaret was wildly entertaining and songs from their new album, "We The People Of The Soil" sound absolutely fantastic. The two are funny, entertaining and very talented. If you want something a bit different, I highly recommend seeking The Inspector Cluzo out and catching a live set. You won't be disappointed. More...
