Jamie Hooper, Sunny Dhak and Bob Froese originally got together to do a one-off reunion gig for an old group of theirs - however, things went so well they decided to continue under a new moniker. A five-track demo of the new band, now dubbed 3 Inches of Blood after a particularly gruesome dream of Froese's, found its way over to the house of Hot Hot Heat keyboardist Steve Bays. Bays' friend, death metal vocalist Cam Pipes, was impressed with 3 Inches' old school sound, which sounds like the shrieking vocal assault of Rob Halford, the epic guitars and storytelling of Iron Maiden, the pirate theme of Running Wild, and the lasting influence of the British New Wave of Heavy Metal.
Although the group had little distribution for the record, they did share the same U.K. label as The Darkness, who at the time were on their way to becoming the UK's latest rock sensation. When 3 Inches went overseas, they hooked up with The Darkness for a UK tour. The tour was a smash success. Due to this bubbling under at the press level, Roadrunner Records took notice of the group's demo, and signed the band in 2004.
3 Inches began work on "Advance and Vanquish," determined to make it a "classic" metal album. Musically, the band has expanded on their classic metal roots, developing into one of the tightest hard rock bands of modern times.

3 Inches of Blood has scheduled a special headlining show in memory of their fallen friend and ex-bass player Brian Redman. This event is set for Saturday November 7 at Hell's Kitchen in Tacoma, WA with openers Jet City Fix and Glimpse.
3 Inches of Blood comments: “We are happy to be paying tribute to our lost friend and former bandmate, Brian Redman. This show is about honoring Brian's memory and celebrating his life. We want everyone to enjoy this show, have fun and remember the good we all had with Brian because he always knew how to have a good time and we're confident that he would have wanted it that way."
Vancouver's Bison b.c. has checked in with a fairly extensive blog recapping the tour with Kylesa, Tombs, Saviours and Red Fang this fall. Here's an exerpt from the blog:
"Sep 11 '09 (Vancouver BC @ Commodore):
I always love kicking off a tour with a show in Vancouver. It's great to have one last chance to get completely loser pissed with our friends before we hit the road for however long. This time we were fortunate enough to finally share the stage with local good 'ol boys The Golers and old pals 3 Inches of Blood. The Golers have been around forever and everyone should fucking hear them. They're basically Vancouver's Venomous Concept: relentless, break-neck speed pummeling. Is grind-punk a genre?
"Show was fucking fun as all hell. It was 3 Inches record release show for 'Here Waits Thy Doom' (which may or may not feature all of us doing back ups on the song 'Preacher's Daughter') and the place was packed! The cap of the Commodore is somewhere between 950 and 1000 and apparently it was like 15 tickets away from being sold out. Jesse from local grinders Zuckuss pointed out how fucking crazy it is that three local bands brought that many metal heads out of the woodwork. The night was bitter sweet though because not only was our good friend Ian unable to be there because of surgery but that night would also be my last chance to ever set foot in local punk/metal institution the Cobalt. I can't even describe how awesome that bar and the staff are. The thought that it's getting shut down by the fucking slum lords that own the building so they can cash in on Olympic fever makes me wanna tear someone's head off. I'm consoled by the fact that i know bar legend/honcho Wendy 13 will soon enough have a new venue i can crawl out of at 5am reeking of jager bombs. COBALT FOREVER!"

3 INCHES OF BLOOD is back with their new album, "Here Waits Thy Doom," and a massive worldwide touring schedule. The group just completed a lengthy, highly successful North American tour alongside In Flames, Between The Buried and Me, and The Faceless. The group immediately followed this up with a few headlining shows, which kick off on Oct. 7th and run through Oct. 29th.
3 INCHES OF BLOOD will take about two weeks off before hitting the road once again assuming the headlining role on a BloodyDisgusting.com sponsored trek with Saviours and Holy Grail in the support slots. This kicks off on November 13th and will be the last U.S. run until the spring of 2010.
In other band news, the group recently shot a video for the album’s vicious lead-off cut, "Battles and Brotherhood," that was produced and directed by the acclaimed Rick Podd, who has worked on such movies as "The Watcher" and "Hellraiser." The clip basically features the band set in the middle of a medieval battle and also showcases their acting abilities. Stay tuned to BloodyDisgusting.com over the next week for an exclusive video teaser to give you a little taste as to what’s to come with the full-length clip.
Cam Pipes (vocals) states: “We're off to a pretty good start in support of Here Waits Thy Doom. Our hometown show in Vancouver sold out beyond capacity and was amazing in every way. We had very supportive crowds at the few Western Canada shows we did afterwards. Currently, we are nearing the end of the U.S. tour with In Flames, Between the Buried and Me and The Faceless and as we had hoped, it has been a great tour. We usually get along with all the bands we tour with and this is no different. The shows have been hugely attended and fans have been quite enthusiastic to say the least.
“We have a week of headlining shows on the east coast with Children and Mantic Ritual before we go to Canada and tour our way back home across our home country. Saviours will be meeting up with us in southern Ontario to do the last week of Canadian dates. After a bit of time off we embark on the BloodyDisgusting.com (our favorite website) sponsored headlining North American tour. Again, Saviours will be joining us as well as Holy Grail. It's a busy fall season for us, but we wouldn't have it any other way.”

Spew Active News and Entertainment has issued the following statement about former 3 Inches of Blood bassist Brian Redman passing away:
"It is with a sad heart that I report that Brian Redman died last night in a motor vehicle accident in Tacoma. Redman recently returned to Tacoma after living in Southern California for a short stint.
"Before he left for California, he tended bar at Doyle’s and fronted the rock band the Dirty Knockers. Redman also had a two-year run as bassist for metal band 3 Inches of Blood. Doyle’s Public House will be closed today as the owners and staff mourn the lost of their friend. On behalf of everyone at the Weekly Volcano, I extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Brian Redman.
"May you rest in peace Brian."

We are to be joined in this merciless campaign by our bearded brethren in 3 Inches Of Blood, personal favorites Necrophobic, Carnifex, Obscura, The Faceless and one of the UK's finest, Ingested.
