Jamie Hooper, Sunny Dhak and Bob Froese originally got together to do a one-off reunion gig for an old group of theirs - however, things went so well they decided to continue under a new moniker. A five-track demo of the new band, now dubbed 3 Inches of Blood after a particularly gruesome dream of Froese's, found its way over to the house of Hot Hot Heat keyboardist Steve Bays. Bays' friend, death metal vocalist Cam Pipes, was impressed with 3 Inches' old school sound, which sounds like the shrieking vocal assault of Rob Halford, the epic guitars and storytelling of Iron Maiden, the pirate theme of Running Wild, and the lasting influence of the British New Wave of Heavy Metal.
Although the group had little distribution for the record, they did share the same U.K. label as The Darkness, who at the time were on their way to becoming the UK's latest rock sensation. When 3 Inches went overseas, they hooked up with The Darkness for a UK tour. The tour was a smash success. Due to this bubbling under at the press level, Roadrunner Records took notice of the group's demo, and signed the band in 2004.
3 Inches began work on "Advance and Vanquish," determined to make it a "classic" metal album. Musically, the band has expanded on their classic metal roots, developing into one of the tightest hard rock bands of modern times.

"Justin just listened to 'The View' by Lou Reed and Metallica, and now he can't stop singing 'I am the stew, I am the bread bowl.'"

3 Inches of Blood has issued the following brief announcement about entering the studio to record a new full-length album:
"We're heading to Vogville Studios today to begin recording our fifth record, and we're very excited for this. It's always time for Heavy Metal!"
Further details on the album, which is being recorded with engineer and producer Terry Sho Murray, will be announced as they are made available. The band also recently posted this update about seeking fan art submission:
"3 INCHES OF BLOOD wants you to make them an (unofficial) ALBUM COVER! You have to the end of November to submit your entries to email@example.com.
"The WINNER of the contest will get vinyl copies of ANTHEMS FOR THE VICTORIOUS and the 3IOB / BOB WAYNE split, 3IOB guitar picks, drum sticks, and a signed drum head.
"Be creative, and have fun doing it! We're looking forward to seeing what your BARBARIC MINDS come up with!"
Canadian heavy metal outfit 3 Inches Of Blood has announced that they will be soon entering the studio to begin work on their next studio album, which will be released sometime next year. The album will be recorded at Vogville Studios and Profile Studios in Vancouver with engineer and producer Terry Sho Murray, who also worked on the band's last 7".
Guitarist Shane Clark comments, "We 're in pre-production mode here in east van and we're writing our next blood soaked metal masterpiece!! We are keeping true metal alive, so fuck trends brothers and sisters!! Stay metal!!! You will hear from us very soon!!"
Outlaw country modernist Bob Wayne and heavy metal outfit 3 Inches of Blood have released a split 7". The split, which is available today, includes Bob Wayne's "Everything's Legal In Alabama" and a live version of "Call Of The Hammer" from 3 Inches of Blood featuring Ben Falgoust from Goatwhore.
3 Inches of Blood vocalist Cam Pipes commented on the release, "When asked if we wanted to do a split 7" with Bob Wayne it was a pretty easy decision. We've never done a split 7" before and Bob's already a friend of ours, a good ol' Pacific Northwestern boy. We've also never released a live track before. We had recorded some shows in Vancouver last year, so we picked Call of the Hammer since Ben Falgoust from Goatwhore does guest vocals on it. All around this is a special release for us."
Bob Wayne adds, "I've always had fun hangin with those guys [3 Inches Of Blood]. We've played a few shows together and I always go and see them live if they're within 100 miles of me! I'm a big fan so this is a huge honor."
On Saturday, September 24th the film "Lloyd The Conqueror," staring Mike Smith (Trailer Park Boys) and Brian Posehn, will premiere as part of the Calgary International Film Festival at the Globe Theatre at 7:00 PM.
Century Media's 3 Inches of Blood has a cover of the classic Rush song, "Anthem" featured in the film and directly following the premiere the band will be performing at the official after party. The event begins at 9:00 PM at Dickens Pub. Tickets can be purchased here. The following press release has also been released about the film:
"When perpetual slacker Lloyd (Evan Williams) and his two best friends ask their history professor, Derek (TRAILER PARK BOYS' Mike Smith), for an extra-credit assignment, he challenges them to unseat him as the dread lord of his deteriorating LARPing (Live Action Role Playing) league. But this will be no simple grade-grab. Getting to Derek will mean battling a string of dedicated (and downright deranged) Demons & Dwarves players, including a pack of bloodthirsty Danes and a somewhat misplaced Vulcan.
"Featuring a cast of cult-comic favourites including Brian Posehn, Harland Williams and FUBAR's Andrew Sparacino (who also appears in A LEGEND OF WHITEY), and directed by Calgary's Michael Peterson, LLOYD THE CONQUEROR is a no-holds-barred fantasy romp that casts a 12-sided eye on a much-misunderstood subculture. Whether you're a die-hard D&D fan or a newbie to all things geek, get ready to be won over by Lloyd and his merry band of adventurers."

Vancouver, Canada heavy metal act Bison b.c. has announced that Matt Wood (Haggatha, ex-3 Inches of Blood, ex-Pride Tiger) has joined the band as its new drummer. Bison guitarist/vocalist James Farwell commented on the addition by saying;
"A couple months back Brad [Mackinnon, former drummer] told us he had made the difficult decision to leave the band. We lived and breathed music together for almost five years and it was a fucking honor to share the stage and create music with him, not to mention doing all kinds of fucked up shit that was fucking way fun. It was a hard decision for him, and we wish him all the best, and hey, we still go and get wasted together.
"Enter Matt Wood. Masa and Matt used to play in a band called Goatsblood way back in the day, he also totally slays in a couple of local bands – Congress and haggatha – so we invite him to come jam with us, purely out of pity. Turns out he’s pretty good for a drunk just shy of fifty. So, on behalf of Bison bc inc., we would like to welcome to the band, our new drummer, Mr. Matt Wood" More...

"Over the month of May I documented The Warriors Of The Great White North Tour with 3 Inches Of Blood and the Cancer Bats, as well as BarnBurner (MTL) and Waster (WPG). The footage is insane and the whole film will be scored by members of 3 Inches. The more money I raise the quicker I can get the film to the fans and trust me, you will not be disappointed. 3 Inches of Blood is gearing up for a tour as direct support for Eluveitie, but before that gets started the band will be making a quick pit stop into Shostroud Productions in Vancouver to record new cuts with Sho Murray (City of Fire) and Byron Stroud (Strapping Young Lad, Fear Factory). One of the songs will be played live on the upcoming tour and will be making its way online soon. The band comments:
"It's a great time for us to be touring North America again. We haven't slugged it out in the US since Mayhem fest in summer 2010 and we're always happy to play to our loyal Canadian brethren. Everyone in the 3IOB camp have been eagerly anticipating this tour. We've never toured with a band like Eluveitie before. Their fan base is probably more similar to ours than most other bands we've toured with in the past. The Holy Grail guys are always fun to hang out with and we're curious to check out System Divide. We're extra pumped for this tour because it will give us the opportunity to road-test a new song or two. Hope everyone digs the new jams."

Cam Pipes from 3 Inches Of Blood shared his thoughts on the band's upcoming tour with Eluveitie:
"This is gonna be an interesting tour for us. We’re used to being on tours with metalcore/screamo bands and we stick out like a sore thumb. This tour, I think we’ll share more musical similarities with the other bands and therefore will be playing to a more like-minded crowd. At the same time, each band brings something unique to the tour. I’m predicting all the bands will get along famously. This should be a treat for our fans too ‘cause they’ll be seeing us with styles of bands that we aren’t mached up with too often!"
Eluveitie also commented:
"Thank you Cam Pipes, and we agree: This is going to be a blast. We’d like to add for anyone thinking the package is a little weird: If you’ve ever seen any of the bands live imagine that energy times four and you know what to expect on this tour and why it fits just right." More...
