A Storm Of Light To Release New Album

Following the 2011 album "As The Valley Of Death Becomes Us, Our Silver Memories Fade" and a rapturous response to 2012 shows, A Storm of Light will return this year with a brand new record via Southern Lord Recordings. The following press release was issued about the upcoming new offering:

"A Storm of Light's third album 'As The Valley Of Death Becomes Us, Our Silver Memories Fade' was the band's heaviest and most dynamic release to date bringing together the colossal energies and forces of the group, not to mention an assemblage of prestigious guests.

"Their latest offering, entitled 'Nations to Flames,' was recorded with Travis Kammeyer (Fahrenheit Studios), mixed with Matt Bayles (Red Room) and is currently being mastered and readied for our listening pleasure later this year."

The band, wishing to give little away, states that musically the labum is "faster, much darker and noisier” adding that…"on this record, we have finally found ourselves."

Further information, including track listing, artwork and audio, will be revealed in due course.

Corrosion Of Conformity On St. Patrick's Day

You could spot someone that was going to the Corrosion of Conformity show a mile away in the French Quarter as they walked, sometimes stumbled, around in the hot afternoon sun of St. Patrick’s Day; black, worn band shirt, a few drinks under the belt, and a happy smile. Even in their stupor, they hovered around One Eyed Jacks just waiting for those doors to open so they could finally see their friends. Although many people coming go to numerous concerts a month, a good bit came just to see COC, the band that they used to go see in the small, dank clubs of New Orleans when they were much younger. It was a reunion for them. More...

SXSW 2012: Tone Def Touring Showcase with C.O.C.

After Pallbearer marched its audience toward a giant, gaping abyss at ND, I hustled a couple blocks west to Dirty Dog Bar. I learned an important lesson last year: If you don’t have a badge or wrist band, show up early to ensure you get into the venue. Last year, I showed up a band or two into the Metal Alliance show and missed Saint Vitus and Crowbar. Once the doors opened, the bar’s staff allowed a few badge and wrist-band holders in first and then opened the flood gates to everyone else.

The Atlas Moth did not bide its time in leisurely boredom like me. The Chicago-based space sludge masters were busy setting up for their second show in the span of a couple of hours. The group filled in the vacancy left by Rwake, who also bowed out of The Atlas Moth’s earlier show. Without their planetary light show that illuminated ND’s, The Atlas Moth’s performance was not as visually stunning. Their keyboards, effects and coarse tones updated the flowery texture of traditional psychedelia. Although they call Profound Lore home, The Atlas Moth could fit right in on Neurosis’ Neurot label. Asymmetry Fest 2012 Lineup Revealed

The Asymmetry Festival will be taking place from May 3rd - 5th in Poland, with full details available here. The following press release was issued about the fest:

"Asymmetry Festival is a unique event on the Central European scale. Successfully organized since four years, draws fans of the alternative music scene not only from Poland, but Germany, Czech, Slovakia, Hungary and many other neighbouring countries as well. The festival constantly develops its formula in continuous searches for new music genres – genres which defy labelling. The event will take place, for the first time, in a special location on the map of Wroclaw – the XIXc. building of the Browar Mieszczanski [Bourgeois Brewery], which since many years is an important cultural point of the city.

"Apart from the location, the assumptions and priorities in attitude towards the invited artists have changed as well. Among the 40 bands performing there, there is a numerous group of innovative projects, which are difficult to come across on any European festival stage. So side by side with the legendary Sleep, Killing Joke, Red Fang or Amenra, the guests of Asymmetry will also witness performances of all-star groups, created exclusively to in order to open the artistic floodgates of musical visions and the need to evolve.

"Let yourself be carried away by the fun. Come to Wroclaw and become witnesses of something huge."

The lineup and schedule for the festival is as follows: More...

A Storm Of Light Seeks Permanent Drummer

Brooklyn atmospheric doom metal band A STORM OF LIGHT has issued the following update:

"In just over two years since the band's inception, A STORM OF LIGHT has had the honor and privilege of playing with many great drummers: Vinny Signorelli, Jason Roeder, Pete Angevine etc. While this band is built around revolving members both in touring and recording, we've decided that a central three-piece will make us sonically/rhythmically stronger. That said, we have decided to look for a permanent drummer, one that can make STORM their primary focus, and be part of the band for the long haul."

"When: ASAP. We will be recording in early fall and going to Europe from September 28 - Nov 1."

"Where: Ideally we want someone in Brooklyn/NYC, or damn close. While we are willing to consider people outside of the area (New Jersey/Philadelphia/Upstate NY/Providence/Boston/DC etc). Please keep in mind that we are constantly writing, recording, practicing, touring, so you will have to been in Brooklyn very regularly." More...
