The four original members of cult U.S. metal band Sacred Oath are together again for the first time in more than 6 years and have released a lyric video for “Snake Eyes,” taken from the brand new full-length album “Fallen,” due on May 28th. Check out the video below. The following press release was also issued about Sacred Oath:
"The band is celebrating the 25th anniversary of debut release 'A Crystal Vision,' an album that somehow managed to become a cult classic despite going out of print almost immediately after its release in 1988.
"Singer Rob Thorne reformed the band in 2007 and has since released several albums with Sacred Oath, but 'Fallen' is the first full length album since ‘88 to feature Pete Altieri (bass), Glen Cruciani (guitar), Rob Thorne (vocals/guitar) and Kenny Evans (drums) throughout."
In a letter to fans posted online, Pete Altieri describes the album as "Pure magic. I knew this was special, but until I sat down today to listen to ‘Fallen’ mastered and complete, I didn’t realize how much. This is truly a gift from the metal gods to all of us!" More...
A brand new full-length album from Sacred Oath is scheduled for worldwide release on May 28th of this year. “Fallen” is the 6th studio album from the power metal quartet currently celebrating 25 years in the business.
Produced by lead singer/guitarist Rob Thorne at his studio in Connecticut, all 10 songs were recorded with the original 1988 line-up, including Pete Altieri (bass), Kenny Evans (drums), and Glen Cruciani (guitar).
“The four of us haven’t recorded anything together since 'Darkness Visible' for a variety of reasons,” says Thorne, who has produced six of the band’s more recent albums. “I threw the idea out there of doing an EP together to celebrate our 25th anniversary, and everyone jumped on board. It quickly escalate! d into a monstrous LP. It’s very exciting.”
The track listing is as follows (order subject to change):
King Of Your World
Misery Loves Company
Get Your Wings
The Way of All Flesh
The band chose to bring back artist Jason Beam for this release, whose artwork also appears on “Darkness Visible” (2007), “Till Death Do Us Part” (2008), and most recently “Spells and Incantations” (2012). “Fallen” will be released by Angel Thorne Music and distributed by MVD Entertainment. More...
Power-thrash metal underdogs Sacred Oath have released the video “Blood Storm” on YouTube to celebrate their exclusive digital release “Spells and Incantations” on iTunes today. The video contains rare performance clips and photos from the band’s personal archives spanning a 25-year tenure in the metal underground.
“I think perseverance is something to be celebrated,” says Rob Thorne, the band’s singer/guitarist. “It hasn’t been easy for us. It isn’t easy for anybody, really, but 25 years is a long time to hang in this business without the support of a record label. I like to think of us as pure, uncut. Or stupid.”
The best-of collection “Spells and Incantations” is released today as an iTunes exclusive metal album. Two previously unreleased bonus tracks are also included. A digipack CD hits stores and other digital outlets on May 29th through Super D and MVD distribution.
Sacred Oath, the Danbury, CT power metal pioneers who made their debut back in 1987 on Mercenary Records, will release the "Spells and Incantations: the Best of Sacred Oath" compilation album celebrating their 25 year history exclusively with iTunes May 15th. Sacred Oath has issued the following announcement about an upcoming vinyl re-release of the band's "Darkness Visible" album:
"Metalizer Records in Germany will release the second Sacred Oath album 'Darkness Visible' on vinyl along with a bonus 7" of Revolution/Burn Away (Loki's Song) on September 10th 2011. Metalizer released 'World On Fire' on deluxe double gatefold vinyl this past April."
The band also recently announced that drummer Kenny Evans will be missing the band's upcoming tour due to a spinal injury.
Drummer Kenny Evans, who has been with Sacred Oath since recording the band’s debut “A Crystal Vision” in 1987, has suffered a severe injury to his spine and requires surgery. As a result, he will be unable to perform in the fall US tour in October.
“We’re all very worried about him,” said bandleader and singer Rob Thorne in an interview with DJ Roger Lotring on 91.7 WHUS in Connecticut. “We were hoping he could rehabilitate without surgery, but after the last show we did in New Haven he couldn’t walk for almost a week. He’s in serious, serious pain.”
For the tour, Sacred Oath has hired Chilean drummer Ignacio Orellana. Ignacio has been part of many projects and bands such as Pirosaint and Downfire (US). “This is a temporary replacement, and we’re all hopeful that Kenny will recover from surgery and be able to record the next Sacred Oath album,” said Thorne. “We’ve been together for so long, I can’t imagine an album without him. But Ignacio has been a blessing. He is a fantastic drummer, knows the material, and most importantly, is sensitive to the situation. We’re confident the tour will be strong.”

The 2011 Ragnarokkr Metal Festival is set to take place in Chicago, IL on October 1st, 2011. The currently announced lineup for the festival includes Helstar, Cage, Sacred Oath, Black Widow USA, Furnaze, and Catalano.
The promotional poster for the show can be viewed below, or you can find more information on the festival by heading over to this location.
The festival organizers also issued the following statement:
"For far too long, metal has been disappearing from the US. Few bands are doing long tours in the US and even fewer are coming to the US from other countries. We are dedicated to revitalizing metal in the US again and bringing the greatest metal bands from around the globe for all headbangers in the states still going strong. The Gods have been invoked and the battle has begun."
Sacred Oath has issued the following announcement about recording new tracks for an upcoming EP release:
"Rob Thorne is back in the studio finishing 3 tracks that weren't completed in time for World On Fire. The band is considering a possible EP release tentatively titled 'Thrash Inc.' - a reference to the popular Sacred Oath newsletter from the early days back in 1986. 'Posers Must Die' was written by original bassist and founding member Pete Altieri and features him as guest vocalist on the recording.
"'Burn Away' is a recently written number put together by drummer Kenny Evans, and the third track - 'Over the Edge' - was originally written by Thorne for the Darkness Visible album. A fourth song - 'Wicked Ways' - was finished and mastered in December and is included as a bonus track on the band's forthcoming vinyl release of World On Fire through Germany's Metalizer Records."

The cover art was painted by artist Michael Whelan (Stephen King, Sepultura, Evile). "This cover is perfect," said Thorne in a recent interview. Conneticut based power metal band Sacred Oath has issued the following update about their new self-titled album:
"If you’re looking for good old-fashioned heavy metal, then Connecticut’s Sacred Oath is the band for you. The group – which is comprised of Rob Thorne (vocals, guitar), Bill Smith (Guitar), Scott Waite (Bass), and Kenny Evans (drums) – are preparing to release their latest offering, ‘Sacred Oath.’
"Release dates for both the standard and deluxe version of the CD have been set for May 12th (US, Canada) . The official version contains 10 songs in a jewel case. The deluxe edition has 14 songs and is packaged in an elaborate digipack with a 16 page lyric and photo booklet. All four bonus tracks in the deluxe package are additional brand new songs. Why two editions? “Pricing, really” says Rob Thorne. “Old-school Oathbangers won’t have any qualms paying $14 for the deluxe, but newcomers to the band might, and we’re working on an exclusive with iTunes to feature the album at a discounted price. You just can’t do that with 14 songs.”
‘Sacred Oath’ will be available for mp3 download through all the major online retailers, but the band expects to make an announcement about an iTunes exclusive in the coming weeks.
“Much of the recording of this album has just been a whirlwind. The band is in a zone,” said Thorne. Sacred Oath’s last album ‘…’Till Death Do Us Part’ spent a few weeks on the iTunes homepage as one of eight best live metal albums in 2008. More...
