The trolls of Nordic folklore are believed to be dirty creatures of enormous strength and appetite. Their grotesque physique grants them a comic element, although the humor tends to be on the grim side as these nocturne beings hunger for human flesh. Unsurprisingly, this has earned them a rather bad reputation.
All things considered, Finntroll are the perfect embodiment of all aforementioned sentiments - although one might want to replace the hunger for human meat with an unquenchable thirst for booze. Catch the trolls on tour in November/December with Blackguard & Metsatoll:

Vocalist Paul Zinay comments “We had a blast conquering North America with Kamelot and now it's time to conquer some new territories. We are very honored that we were asked to join them on this tour and we'd like to give our deepest thanks and gratitude to Thomas and all of the Kamelot crew for extending us this invitation. This will be the last tour supporting our latest album Firefight and we can't imagine ending on a higher note than this.”

Kamelot is pleased to announce the support bands for an upcoming European headliner tour on the heels of new album "Silverthorn." Kamelot will be joined by German symphonic metallers Xandria, Norways's own powerful progressive heavy metal band Triosphere, and from Montreal Canada, the melodic death metallers Blackguard will complete the package.
Blackguard recently toured with Kamelot on the 2011 Pandemonium Tour in North America and have proved to be a great addition to the billing. "Every tour we work to bring the fans a diverse and unique support band experience, this year is no exception, the guys are all great people and they will kick serious ass for the fans" states Kamelot's Founder Thomas Youngblood.
Kamelot will be touring in support of upcoming album "Silverthorn," to be released at the end of October via Steamhammer/SPV (N.A./EU) and King Records (Japan). More...
Blackguard is hard at work on pre-production for the band's fourth album "Storm." Vocalist Paul Zinay comments:
"Hey everyone! We are currently hard at work and pre-production is coming along very nice. Everyone here is ecstatic over the material we have. Our new guitarist Louis is a riff machine and working his ass off to help make this the best Blackguard album to date. The writing process this time around is unlike anything we’ve done before. In the past, one or two people would make up the vast majority of material for the album. This time, however, everyone is contributing ideas and music and the results are beyond my expectations.
"We will be heading into studio in September to start tracking and we’re hoping to have the record out in early 2013. Lyrically, I’m taking a step into new territory by trying my hand at writing a concept album. This won’t be as intricate or vast as 'The Emerald Sword saga' or 'The Metal Opera,' but this will be an exciting and new challenge for me nonetheless.
"That’s it for now. We’ll try to update everyone as often as possible. In the meantime, keep your eyes open for some exciting tour news that will be announced in the coming weeks. Cheers!" More...

Montreal's Blackguard has stated the following via the band's Facebook page:
"Unfortunately we must officially announce the departure of lead guitarist Kim Gosselin from Blackguard.
"For those of you who have seen us play during our last few tours, this will not come as a shock, seeing as Kim has been absent from the live lineup for quite some time.
"Kim has decided not to continue with the band, and we'd like to thank him for his invaluable contribution to this group over the years.
"As hard as it is seeing a brother go, this is truly the best thing for both parties as Kim’s interest in touring and writing have been waning over the last year.
"We wanted to wait until we had found a suitable replacement before making any official announcement and we’re very happy to finally be able to let everyone in on what’s going on.
"Blackguard is very happy to welcome Mr. Louis Jacques of the band Kemilon to the family as new lead guitarist.
"Louis made his live debut with Blackguard yesterday at the D-tox Rockfest in Montebello, QC . This was an amazing show and a great way to kick off our journey together.
"From Louis: 'I’m very glad to be joining the mighty Blackguard! Together we'll get to a new level. Expect more violence, originality and shred...!'
"Here’s a small taste of what Louis will be bringing to the team.
"We’re hard at work on our followup to last year’s 'Firefight' record [read Metalunderground.com's review here]. We already have songs demoed and we expect an early 2013 release through Victory records.
"The next few months are going to be very busy for us. We do have a few shows planned so keep your eyes on our tour section of our Facebook and come welcome Louis in style.
See you all on the road!!

Paul "Paul Ablaze" Zinay, frontman of Canada's Blackguard checked in with an extensive post-tour report from the band's rigorous touring in 2011 for the band's sophomore release "Firefight."
Zinay reported the following on the band's official Facebook Page:
"It’s been a while since the last time we’ve done a post-tour report and given the extensive year we’ve had and the time off we’ll be taking this feels like a good time to do one.
"2011 has been our busiest year to date. A new label home at Victory Records, our first music video (thank you Victory for the awesome production), a new record, Firefight, which came out in March, and 6 tours to support it (5 North American and 1 European). It’s safe to say we’ve had our hands full (I don’t have the official count but since January we’ve done close to 200 shows).
"It’s been an honour and a privilege to tour with so many amazing bands, many of which we never thought we would have the opportunity to share the stage with.
"So cheers to Deicide , Belphegor , Neuraxis , Pathology , Gigan Symphony X , Powerglove, Otep , Destrophy , Sister Sin , One Eyed Doll , Kamelot , Alestorm , The Agonist , Evergrey, Sabaton, The Absence, and all their crew for being amazing tour mates and we hope to one day tour with each one of them again. Also a special shout out to Overkill, D.R.I, Bonded By Blood , Ensiferum, Moonspell, and Finntroll for the awesome shows in Mexico City .
"For me it’s become less and less appropriate to judge a tour by attendance or merch sales. Yes those things are still important but a crappy show or poor merch night feels less significant when you’re surrounded by good people and get to watch great bands every night.
"This year we were fortunate enough to have been given many touring opportunities (which as you can see we took every advantage of) and has seen us on some of the most diverse touring line-ups we’ve ever been a part of. We’d like to extend our deepest thanks to all the fans of the bands we were out with for every circle pit, stage dive, head bang, and good time had even though you might not have known who the heck we were.
"And of course to our own loyal fans who have come out time and time again to see us play. I’m constantly in shock when I hear people telling me they’ve come to see us 3, 4 even 5 times in the last year. We can’t thank you enough for your ongoing support. We are incredibly fortunate to have each and every one of you on our side, pushing us on.
"These last two months on the road were some of the best and most challenging in our careers. Finally having a second shot at touring with Kamelot after last year’s cancelled tour was something we had been looking forward to for quite some time, and it was only made better with the inclusion of our new friends in Alestorm and old ones in The Agonist. However, the last minute absence of our brother and lead guitarist Kim proved a unique challenge. Calls went out, E-mails were sent (thank you Terry and Justine), and finally prayers were answered. I can’t stress enough how lucky we are to have so many amazing friends in this business who helped us out in our time of need, especially at such short notice (to everyone who made calls on our behalf, we owe you big!)
