Today, the official pre-sale for the concert film "Rammstein: Paris" begins ahead of the worldwide release on May 19. Get it at this location.
The film, which will be released in many configurations, sets new standards. In March 2012, during the Made in Germany tour, Swedish director Jonas Åkerlund shot two acclaimed Rammstein concerts at the Palais Omnisports arena in Paris in front of 17,000 spectators.
Featuring 22 songs from the band's entire repertoire, the resulting film is not only the most spectacular collection of imagery about the most successful German rock band of our time, but also a masterpiece of music cinema, capturing Rammstein's energy as a unique visual and sonic experience.
Åkerlund is notorious for his radical, pioneering video clips for bands such as The Prodigy, Metallica, The Rolling Stones, and also Rammstein. Absurd details, upended perspectives, shocks of contrast, and sensory confusion flicker through his music productions, and in "Rammstein: Paris," he celebrates this from the very first minute.
Rammstein plays 22 songs (128 minutes), ranging from "Wollt ihr das Bett in Flammen sehen?," the first song from the very first album, to "Frühling in Paris" from the last studio album "Liebe ist für alle da."
Artistically and dramaturgically ingeniously staged, like an overwhelming video clip, "Rammstein: Paris" is one of the best rock concert films of all time. "Absolument."
A first impression of this masterpiece can be seen right here: More...

If you wan't experienced it, Rammstein always puts on a hell of a live show, with huge gouts of fire and even bigger gouts of something uncomfortably seminal in nature sprayed into the crowd.
Fans will get the next best thing to a live performance with the upcoming "Paris” DVD and theatric release, a 98-minute cinema version of the concerts that were filmed in March of 2012 in Bercy during the “Made In Germany” tour.

The week has kicked off again and now that we're finally done with that abysmal Monday, it's time for another edition of Pit Stories straight from metal bands.
Last week we heard about an unruly fan getting what he deserved after repeatedly crashing into the band, but for this week's Pit Story we're moving away from unruly crowds to crowds getting set on fire by the performance... literally!
Rob Rom from Cincinnati, Ohio outfit Static Tension recalls one particularly cramped venue hosting a pyrotechnics-filled Rammstein show to some sweltering results. Rob tells the story like this:
On July 28th, 2001, some buddies and I had tickets to see the German metal band Rammstein at a club called Bogarts in Cincinnati. I was a big fan at the time and had huge expectations. I had seen pictures and heard stories of their pyrotechnics and had to witness it for myself. So we walked into the place and found it to be dark and rather quiet for a venue.... Turns out the opening band Crossbreed had some equipment difficulties and had to shut down after one song, but that's not what made this night so memorable.
Another band followed called Godhead, I myself wasn't very impressed, they weren't terrible, just not my cup of beer. So I waited through what felt like a 2 hour set for the flaming 6 piece to hit the stage. Keep in mind that Bogarts isn't exactly a big place to see a show, I've seen bigger school auditoriums. So the band finally hits the stage and within moments, there are already huge flames shooting out of the floor, they had to reach 15 ft at least! Not to mention flaming microphone stands, flame throwers attached to their faces, and random smaller pyro effects. Needless to say, the place was heating up, and my buddies and I moved to the back.
Halfway through the set, the members started dumping buckets of cold water onto the crowd, I swear I saw steam coming off of them! I was uncomfortably warm but still managing to stay cool enough in the back to finish the show. As the set neared its end, vocalist Til Lindemann came out in a large metal trench coat and was set completely on fire and finished the last song in what must have been the hottest coat in history. It was already miserably hot in that place and that poor guy had to finish the set in a flaming coat.
By the end of the evening, some of the crowd was drenched in cold water, my buddies and I, we were drenched in sweat, you could feel the heat coming off of the walls. It's no wonder they've never played there again. Had to of been a huge safety issue in such a small place. I've seen fights break out, I've seen people come out of pits completely bloody, I've seen people cut themselves on broken glass on the floor, and I'm sure you have all read enough about all of that, but never again have I seen a band who's act revolved around so much fire in my life!
I've never been to an open air music festival. Mostly since most music fests have only one or two artists who I like and try to jam as many different styles of music into one festival as possible to the point where they have no target audience anymore. Lollapalooza is perhaps the biggest offender in that regard to he point where it appeals to both everyone and nobody simultaneously. But thankfully Chicago finally got a metal festival of its own to compensate for a lot of the directionless festivals that the city is known for that have kept me at bay for so long.
Milwaukee Metalfest closed up around a decade ago so Chicago getting a heavy metal festival was (literally) music to my ears. The Rust Belt had nothing in the way of metal festivals and the only other big metal fests have been Rocklahoma, Maryland Deathfest, New England Metal and Hardcore Fest and 70,000 Tons of Metal. As somebody who doesn't live within driving distance from Oklahoma, Maryland, Massachusetts or Florida, I was incredibly excited for something to hit the Midwest as it was long overdue.
But the part that got me most excited was the potential for the future. Specifically a future where artists who only do festivals and mini-tours can finally hit a big outdoor stage and do so in my hometown. Think Anaal Nathrakh, Samael, Ihsahn, Pig Destroyer and Zardonic being able to not only play a real festival show in the Midwest but also be introduced to a whole new audience who would be coming for the far more mainstream headliner. At the very least, the fest could use some less obscure second stage openers and some more foreign bands who haven't come to America for years like Primordial, Vreid or Orphaned Land. But for a brand new festival, the lineup wasn't bad by any means, particularly when it came to headliners. It's a possible future outlet for all the cool stuff that I would never otherwise get to see in coming years which is what got me psyched more than anything else.
I waited in the mother of all lines upon arriving on Friday for a full 90 minutes. Everyone wanted to be in early to catch the opening band on the opening day of the inaugural festival. And the person in front of me was the evil doppelganger of a friend of mine from college. Same body. Same haircut. Same facial features. Same teeth. It was just completely uncanny, especially since one of them lives in west Iowa and the other in east Nebraska. More...

"It’s going to be the first show in Poland that we’ll play after the long time and it is already now more than likely that we present the brand new songs that we’re now strongly working on. And – special thanx to Steven and Live Nation Poland for reliance. We worked together on Big 4 on Bemowo and we’re looking forward to meet them again. It’s an honour!"

Coinciding with two shows show in their hometown of Berlin, Germany, Rammstein was celebrated with a mausoleum. In front of the O2 World, Berlin’s biggest indoor arena, fans congregated for a procession including a horse-drawn hearse, which delivered the original death masks (as seen on the cover of the band's new career retrospective) of the six band members to the mausoleum.
Inside the black cubic building the busts were carefully placed amongst candles and a book of condolence and could be visited by fans in appropriate reverence. You can watch a promotional video of the event here:
This event took place to commemorate the release of the album “Made In Germany 1995 – 2011’” which reflects the band’s career in 16 tracks and – in a special edition – in addition 17 remixes of their body of work.

RAMMSTEIN will bring their brand new live production to North America this spring for 21 dates kicking off April 20 in Ft. Lauderdale. Tickets for the tour, presented by Live Nation, will go on sale beginning Friday, Nov. 18 and will be available at Ticketmaster.com and LiveNation.com.
Demand for Rammstein's pyrotechnic-laden performances has been so great in Europe, where they regularly play capacity level soccer stadiums, the band spent nearly a full decade without setting foot on North American shores. In December 2010, the sextet returned to North America for two sold out shows including a performance at Madison Square Garden. Rammstein followed with a 9-day trek of major North American cities in Spring 2011.
The tour announcement comes on the heels of news of the band's first retrospective release, "Made In Germany 1995 - 2011," which will be available in North America (through a distribution deal between Universal Germany and Vagrant Records) on Dec. 13. Rammstein recently released "Mein Land," a new four-track digital single that features two new songs: the title track and "Vergiss uns Nicht" as well as remixes from BossHoss and Mogwai. A video directed by Jonas Akerlund for "Mein Land" can be seen here. Rammstein's most recent full-length album, "Liebe Ist Für Alle Da," debuted at #13 on the Billboard Top 200 in October 2009.

Just For Fun
It was two years ago today that Rammstein created a stir with their music video for the single "Pussy", off the album "Liebe Ist Für Alle Da." Between the song's name, lyrics, and explicit music video, the video instantly went viral and made for Metalunderground.com's most read article ever in just a few months (now topping 400,000 views), thanks to the thousands of Internet searches turning up our article as a result. Imagine that: searches for "pussy" would trump other metal-related searches on the 'net. Gasp!
The band debuted the uncensored version of the video on a porn site and had multiple versions of the video banned from YouTube before finally blurring entire scenes containing the offensive images beyond recognition.
As a viral hit and with such a title and subject, as well as being both funny and explicit at the same time, the song has predictably become one to cover (or remix) just to prove a band of any sort to be edgy or maybe in some perverse sense of fun. Let's take a look at a few such covers and parodies:
Just last month Daveyboyz (also known for Heavy Metal Farmer) released a video parody of Rammstein's "Pussy" music video, entitled "Cookie." Despite the change, you can't help but think of the original lyrics when watching this disturbing parody:
