Below is our complete Persistense news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
Netherlands-based act Persistense has issued the following statement about cutting short the band's recent show in Nijmegen:
"Yesterday was really nice at Staddijk in Nijmegen, great atmosphere and a lot of people came to see the bands.
"Unfortunately the night came to an end in a less positive way. One of the guys in the audience suddenly went ill, probably due to low bloodpressure, and fell to the ground wich resulted in a severe head injury... An ambulance arrived, and the medical staff took him to the hospital.
"At that point we were only halfway through our show. We decided together with Staddijk personnel to quit the show out of respect for the fallen warrior! If we played the rest of our gig, it probably wouldn't be as kick ass as it was ment to be, so we will come back to the venue and take revenge, tearing the muscles in your neck apart!
"Keep on moshing and banging your head!"
Persistense has posted a tour video online, which can be viewed below. The band also commented:
"New tour video online! Since we’ve been on tour with the four of us in Germany from the 18th till the 20th of February with our friends of Lunarsphere (DE) and New World Depression (DE) , we made a new tour video. We did 3 shows in Neuenkirchen (Steinfurt), Hamburg, and Bremen.
It has been a lot of fun on the road, and what we filmed represents just a fraction of the adventure! Cheers!"
Persistense has issued the following announcement about parting ways with one of the band's guitarists and lining up new live shows:
"Three shows played in Germany with Lunarsphere and new shows confirmed! Once again we’ve had a great time last weekend in Germany. First we would like to thank our friends from Lunarsphere who were very welcoming and planned the weekend in a great way. And also thanks to New World Depression for the great fun! Neuenkirchen, but especially Hamburg and Bremen, thanks for banging your heads!
"Just like last December, when we played two shows in Germany, we have met really friendly people and did our very best on stage, which resulted in some very enthusiastic reactions from the audience!
"Different than before, we’ve played the German shows with one guitarist because Ralf decided to leave the band. We thank him for a great time and the effort he put in the band and wish him well for the future.
"We will continue as a four-piece and are happy to announce that there are already new shows confirmed. This Saturday (26th of Februari) we’ll play at Bastille Metalfest in Schoonhoven. We’re also gonna hit the stage at Café 545 in Ede on the 18th of March together with German deathmetallers New World Depression!"
L.A. based act Bitch (led by front woman Betsy Bitch) will do a short tour of 3 countries in Europe this spring, culminating in the band's featured appearance at Germany’s Keep It True Festival on April 29th, 2011. Anger As Art will support as both warm-up act on a few dates, and as Betsy’s backing band in Bitch (Anger As Art will not be performing at the Keep It True festival).
"Planning this tour has been bitter-sweet" says Betsy. "We lost our drummer/founding member Robby Settles to Leukemia last year, and it took the wind out of our sails. We already had KIT booked before Robby passed, and other members were less than enthused about going over to play the show. When I spoke with our bassist Steve Gaines, he had just played Keep It True with Abattoir in 2009, and was adamant that it was an opportunity that shouldn’t be missed. Steve offered that if we couldn’t find anyone to fill in that Anger As Art would be honored to perform as Bitch. The rest is history."
Says Steve Gaines: “Bitch was a huge influence on me, and I have been honored to be a member for the past 5 years. Needless to say, this has been a very hard time with Robby’s passing. However, I can say that there are no better guys to ‘be’ Bitch than AAA. We all used to see each other at Bitch shows in LA back in the 80’s, and respect Betsy and their heritage – and that is what we plan to do. Give metal fans in Europe Bitch in full effect.”
Also on the tour package will be Netherlands based metal band Persistense. The dates are as follows:
Friday 22 April: Little Devil, Tilburg - Holland
Saturday 23 April: The Rambler, Eindhoven – Holland
Sunday 24 April: De Vinger, Den Haag – Holland
Monday 25 April: Metro, Waarschoot – Belgium
Wednesday 27 April: De Rots, Antwerp – Belgium
Friday 29 April: KIT Germany
Persistense has checked in with the following update about new live shows and working on new material:
"Wow! It looks like 2011 will be a great year for us! We already have a lot of shows confirmed and there will be more to follow. First we'll play a show in January together with our good friends Archaic Averno. It's been a while since we've had our last gig with them so we're looking forward to share the stage again.
"In February we team up with Lunarsphere and New World Depression to play three shows in Germany. Both Lunarsphere and New World Depression have become good friends of ours and we're very thankful for the opportunity they give us to play in Germany. The first show of that mini-tour will be in Neuenkirchen, a village close to Emsdetten where we played last December. We had a great time over there and we hope to see all those true metalpeople again! The next day we move on to Hamburg to play at the Bambi Galore. The last day of the mini-tour we'll play a show on a boat on the Weser river in Bremen.
"In April we'll support Bitch (US) and Anger As Art (US) on their tour in Holland. Three dates are already confirmed and some more will follow. We also have set one date in Oktober. We play at the Metal Against Child Cancer festival in Belgium.
"Besides all the gigs we're still working very hard on our next album. The songs are getting shape more and more and we hope to release an album which surpasses our debut album In blood And Heart. The album will be released by Deity Down Records again and for now it looks like the release date will be set somewhere at the end of the year."
Persistense has checked in with the following recap of recent tour dates in Germany:
"Last two days in Germany were absolutely amazing! We’ve played two great shows in both Rheine and Emsdetten. First of all a big thanks to the guys from New World Depression and the Rockini organization who had arranged everything perfectly. We couldn’t have asked for more.
"And then the audience; Both shows were fully packed with metal people and the way you have supported us was simply amazing! This is what metal is all about. From the heart! During these two days we’ve met some very nice people and we really hope we can come back to play for you guys again. Horns up."
Den Bosch, Netherlands based thrash/death quintet Persistense have renewed their agreement with Deity Down Records. The record label issued the following announcement about the band releasing a new album:
"A new full-length, sophomore to ‘In Blood and Heart' (DEITY DOWN RECORDS, 2009) will be slated for release in the second half of 2011. During the first half of the year Persistense will focus on touring extensively once more, as well as on adding the finishing touches to the new material.
"The band, whose moniker often is thought to contain a spelling error while in fact it is a contraction of ‘to persist’ and ‘intense’, have welcomed new guitarist HEIN WILLEKENS, who replaces JACQUES MAAS. Persistense recently launched a video clip of 'THE REALTY', a track taken from their current album 'IN BLOOD AND HEART'. The video can be watched at this location. Cheers!"
Persistense has issued the following statement about performing the band's first live show with new guitarist Hein:
"Last Friday night we played our first show with Hein on guitar. We played at the Best of Boschkilde festival, a 20th anniversary party. We didn’t have any time for a sound check or a line check so we just had to plug in and play. Hein was a little nervous about that but we definitely can say he did a great job. Some little mistakes here and there but we decided Hein will stay with the band.
"Right from the start of our show the crowd in front of the stage started a big moshpit and they didn’t stop until we played our last notes. Thanks for that dudes, it was great to have you there! You can check some live material at our YouTube channel. Coming up will be our show as support for Hail of Bullets. This show will take place next sunday at Hangar20, Breda. Hope to see you there again!"
Persistense has issued the following announcement about parting ways with the band's guitarist:
"After working and playing together for nearly three years we decided to stop our cooperation with Jacques, our guitarist. It just didn't work out anymore so the best solution for both Jacques and Persistense was to part ways. We want to thank Jacques for his efforts in Persistense and we wish him all the best with his other band Trisomy. See you around dude!
"Jacques will be immediately replaced by Hein Willekens. After just one audition and some nice conversation we think that Hein will be the perfect dude for the job. Hein (24 years old) has been playing guitar since he was eleven and in terms of playing skills and musical interest we match perfect. Right now Hein is studying his ass off to master our songs and his first gig with Persistense will be at the Halloween Party on the 30th of this month. (See our show section for more details) To Hein; Welcome onboard dude!"
Persistense has issued the following update about the band's upcoming live shows and announcement about writing new material:
"Saturday July 10th and Sunday July 11th we will be playing shows with our German friends Lunarsphere. A great Death Metal / Metal band that kicked ass when we joined them on a few amazing shows on our tour in Germany. Be sure to check us out in Muziekcafe Smiley's, Brunssum or Plein 79, Den Bosch.
"We started songwriting again. Ralf has already written some really cool stuff that the band is working on now, new songs will definitely achieve a new level for Persistense. We can't wait to present them to you, although you will have to wait for them for a big while from now.
"Most of us will head to Graspop 2010 next week, that's the festival we all visit each year. Great atmosphere, great bands, great people. Too bad we aren't playing there I'd say. Hopefully there's a place for us at that festival next year. For now to all of you who head there too, have fun! Hope to see you there or at the shows in Brunssum or Den Bosch!"
Dutch metallers Persistense have issued the following statement about their recent tour dates in Germany:
"Hey folks, we're back from two days Germany and again we had a really great time in the land of Lederhosen, Mercedes and Bockwurst. We met a whole bunch of cool people and we'd like to thank all the bands we played with. Our special thanks goes out to the guys from Lunarsphere who arranged the whole thing for us. Thanks dudes, we're looking forward to see you guys again in July. Also a big thanks to all the people who showed up and banged their heads during our shows. We hope to come back someday!"

Persistense has checked in with the following update about the band's upcoming live shows:
"Back home from the Germany Mini Tour we realized this is what makes us strong and what we really want to do. Also special thanks to Archaic Averno and Remy for being great support. Also a big thanks for the venues, crews and the people who showed up at those gigs. On the 8th and 9th of May we'll do some more shows in Germany together with Lunarsphere.
"Coming up are the gigs with legendary thrash metal / punk band Détente. Guitarist Ross Robinson, drummer Dennis Butler, bass player Steve Hochheiser and singer Dawn Crosby (r.i.p.) started the band in 1984. Their first album, 'Recognize No Authority' was released in '86 and still has a cult status among thrash metal / punk fans. In 2007 3 original band members reignited the album by releasing a reissue. Together with vocalist Ann Boleyn (Hellion) they played a lot of gigs ao The Headbangers Open Air festival. Now, the band has found a permanent singer in Tiina Teal, and they will release their new album 'Decline' any moment now. We are very proud and thankful to have the privilege of supporting Détente at their kick-off shows! Come and check us out in Den Haag, Tilburg, Eindhoven or Antwerpen."

Guitarist Ralf of Dutch metallers Persistense has issued the following statement about their show last night:
"Damn...after some great shows the last couple of weeks we did another gig last night. That gig definitely will be remembered as our worst show ever! Everything that could go wrong, actually did go wrong...and pretty bad too! When we entered the stage we found out that there were no cymbalstandards anymore. The first band of the evening had already gone home and took all their cymbalstandards with them! The result was we had to wait for half an hour for some new standards to arrive.
"Finally we could start off. We always begin our shows with an intro which is played on a cd player. Unfortunately the sound engineer must have fallen asleep cause after the intro he forgot to hit the 'stop' button. That didn't sound very pretty cause we already took off with our first song. Result; Chaos all over the place!
"Normally such things doesn't matter. We get over it pretty quickly and give our best. However, due to the really bad sound on stage we never got into our playing. Personally I didn't hear shit and I fucked up big time! Made some incomprehensible mistakes which I never made before and half way the show I felt like a sack of shit trying to play the guitar ;-) Lucky for me I'm long haired so I could cover my face ;-) Still we really tried to make the best out of it but yesterday it just didn't pay off. Sometimes everyone just has a complete off day! Next time we strike back!!!"
