Guitarist Stu Marshall of Empires of Eden has checked in with the following update about the band's activity:
"It's time for a blog update on what is happening. And there has been alot going on. Being currently signed and licensed to the label's 7Hard (world) and Rockstar Records (Australia), the newest album 'Reborn in Fire' is now on shelves globally. It's great to hear from people from all over the world, please, keep the messages flowing. In other good news, a few of Europe's most prestigious metal reviewers are saying great things about the album. 7Hard contacted me the other day to say they are repressing the album due to the sales figs and it seems to be reaching metal fans everywhere.
"I can also mention I have been in contact with many of the guests since recording the album, and they are all thrilled with the end result. It's still something I enjoy listening to and there are plans afoot for album #3 next year. Next, we are trying some European and US based promoters to tour this epic, once we get some confirmation we will announce it here of course.
"This year I'll be re-mixing and remastering the debut album. The re-release will include a bonus track from US metal screamer 'Sean Peck' and with critics raving about his song on the new album, we discussed something over the top to include. I am thinking of adding a few new instrumental tracks as bonus' also. More...
Paindivision has announced the departure of guitarist Mark Hobson. Mark has chosen to pursue his musical career further overseas in Finland.
Mark comments: “Moving overseas before 2010 is a personal goal which I set myself in 2008. It’s been an adventure being a part of Paindivision. Though, I am now set on my new journey to pursue my career overseas, I will always be a fan and a promoter for the music of the band. I wish the boys the best of luck for the future, and intend to help the 'Pain' storm Europe.”
His permanent replacement will be Ben Thomas, who previously played guitar in Sydney based band Thundasteel and also made a guest appearance on the album “Empires of Eden - Songs of War and Vengeance.”
Ben comments: “I am honoured to be involved with such a world-class act like Paindivision and really look forward to the upcoming shows and what is to come. I wish Mark all the success for his future.”
Ben’s live performance debut with the band will be headlining the “Onslaught of Sound” fest in Canberra on September 26th. This show will be captured on video for a future DVD release. The show also features Sydney thrashers “Switchblade” and a host of the country's emerging metal acts.
In other news, Dan Quinlan has taken on the role of playing bass in death metal act The Amenta. This role will work alongside Dan’s singing/bass role in Paindivision while keeping Paindivision a priority.
Writing has commenced on the follow-up to 2008’s album “One Path” and will showcase for the first time on CD, the drumming talent of Peter Hunt (Ex-Dragonforce and Marshall Law). Pete has just finished up a touring stint drumming for Iron Maiden legend Paul Dianno.
Paindivision have issued the following update regarding the addition of two new members, Mark Hobson on lead guitar and Peter Hunt on drums:
"The last six months have been some of the busiest and toughest times for the band with recording and releasing 'One Path.' These stresses have ended in some members departing the group to pursue other interests and have also introduced new members joining the fold, ready to kick ass in 09. We would like to announce the addition of two new members who bring a powerful, focused energy to the band, and in early rehearsals everything is sounding great." More...
PAINDIVISION has announced that they've signed a deal with Soundholic Records in Japan. Alongside label mates such as Hatesphere and Soilwork, Soundholic have built a reputation as one of the most respected metal labels in Japan.
The band comments on the deal: “We are very happy to be releasing through such a well respected company like Soundholic. The Japanese metal fans have shown strong support for the band on our 2007 tour and the current plan is to head back to Japan in support of the new album in 2009.”
Soundholic will release the Japanese version of the album with a special bonus track. The featured track will be "Like Hell" a cover of Japanese metal legends Loudness.
Stu (guitarist) comments “I have always been a big fan of the guitarist from Loudness, Akira Takasashi, he’s one of the most underrated guitar players and has influenced and entire generation of players. In Japan he’s a god, so this was a test from a players perspective for me and we had a great time recording it. We performed the song live on our final show at Takamatsu in 2007 and it seemed the perfect choice for the new record.”
“One Path” was recently released in Australia by Riot Entertainment in October this year. “One Path” signals a return to high powered shred metal while remaining true to the classic metal roots of WASP, Motorhead and Black Sabbath.
The release is scheduled in Japan for February 2009. Check paindivision.com for all new song samples and news.
