Dead By April's Zandro Santiago has checked in with the following announcement about canceling tonight's show:
"Dear London fans. I am truly sorry for having to cancel today's show. The last couple of days I've been feeling really sore in my throat, and when I woke up this morning my throat was even worse and I also had a fever.
"I waited until sound check to see if I was able to sing, but my voice was gone. I couldn't sing at all. There was no other option than to cancel the show.
"I am so sorry for this and I understand that there are people out there who's disappointed and upset. I really hope to be able to make it up to you one day!" More...
Each week we check in with metal bands from around the globe to get their favorite Pit Stories from metal shows.
Today Richard Sjunnesson (The Unguided, ex-Sonic Syndicate) shares this story of a miscalculated stage dive:
This is a story from our old band Sonic Syndicate but still pretty entertaining, and seeing we are 3 persons from that band in The Unguided what the hell!? Anyway, we had this gig in Gothenburg 2007 on a festival called Metaltown. And towards the end of our set the former harsh vocalist of Dead By April, Jimmie Strimell, came up on stage for no particular reason, we barely knew the guy back back then, but I suppose he was just drunk and wanted to fuck about. Anyway; he was roaming around the stage for a while and I remember us being a bit annoyed by the fact. But after a moment he comes up with the brilliant idea to stage dive.
In his drunk mind he supposedly made some miscalculations as from where the crowd was positioned and that solid iron barrier between the stage and the fans. He however took off and made a miraculous leap towards the people, or so he thought, in fact he hit that fucking barrier head on, and made a total fool of himself. All this was of course immortalized by our manager standing in the ditch filming. And everything stupid like that eventually ends up on YouTube right? So now it can be watched below around 03:00 for everyone amusement. A small step for man but a giant fail-leap for Jimmie!
Regarding The Ungudied we are just about to release our sophomore album “Fragile Immortality” and once that’s out we are going to support it by doing some touring here in Scandinavia and a bunch of festivals during the summer. We are also looking into doing some touring around Europe under 2014. Going to be a busy year!More...
Dead By April recruited new vocalist Christoffer 'Stoffe' Andersson earlier this year, and now Stoffe has checked in with the following update about undergoing surgery and upcoming performances:
"Hi friends, we have finally arrived at the hotel in Oberhausen, for tomorrow's show at West Side Rock Fest.
"I'm still in a lot of pain from my surgery last week, and I don't even know if I can scream or do the show, but i will do my best and really try my hardest to walk up on that stage tomorrow. Be patient :(
"Big thanks and love goes out to the nice people that helped me in any way at the hospital, you rock! (Kirurgavdelningen 2B, Varberg)
"Now, lets pray that I will heal as fast as possible, can finish the album recording, be healthy and most of all, can carry on with what I love to do the most, play music and live my dream." More...

Dead By April has posted the following message online about parting ways with vocalist Jimmie Strimell:
"First of all excuse us for taking time to declare the rumors that has flourished the internet the past days. We’re deeply sorry to inform you that Jimmie Strimell no longer will be a part of Dead By April.
"The reason we had to make this decision is because of Jimmie’s personal problems. His problems has affected the band for many years and we have basically tried everything we could to make this work. We have even gone through group therapy lately to get honesty and sincerity into the group. As nothing changed we had to realize that if we want to move forward with this band there’s unfortunately no other way but to continue without Jimmie. We’re sick of not knowing whether he’ll turn up for shows, recordings and sick of having such bad environment within the band – at all time. It came to a point where we could not be in the same vehicle. More...

Dead By April has issued the following brief announcement about parting ways with guitarist Johan Olsson: "We are sad to see Johan leave and wish him all luck in the future. Johan leaving will not affect the UK tour we're on right now and it will not affect the upcoming album recordings."
Johan also posted the following statement about the split:
"We have had some differences and been going in different directions for a while and there's always a certain point you reach when you need to really decide if you can go forward together or not. So I have decided to leave Dead by April to focus mainly on my own music and bands. Also give time to my other projects like my clothing company 'Suckerpunch Clothing' as well as of course my family and friends. It is every kids dream to be a 'rockstar' and you always have to balance the good against the bad. More...

Sweden's Dead By April has issued the following statement about the band's cover of "Love Like Blood" by Killing Joke:
"Don't worry boys and girls, 'Love like blood' is NOT like some seem to believe a sign of what's going to become of Dead by April. On the contrary 'Love like blood' is an exclusive cover song by the band 'Killing Joke' made for a tribute album due to later this year including Metallica, Foo fighters etc. so simply a homage to a cool band!
"People have been emailing and commenting about how the new song doesn't 'sound like us' as much, well there you have your answer! Hope you will enjoy the song anyways since we thinks it`s great and was a fun cover to make! New DBA songs are right now in the making and they are bigger, heavier and more dynamic than ever before! That`s a promise!"
Dead By April has issued the following announcement about performing alongside My Passion on a U.K. tour:
"As you might see there has come up alot of UK gigs and we are glad to announce that we will be coming to "the island" to do a tour together with our friends in 'My Passion.' Tickets are available now and be quick because it`s a special tour with quite small venues so the risk of selling out fast is quite high! Can't wait to get back to crappy English food and great English crowds!"

Dead By April has issued the following announcement about parting ways with guitarist/vocalist Pontus Hjelm:
"Pontus has after some time off from the band decided to leave Dead by April permanently. He feels that he wants to focus on his work as a songwriter, which is where much of his heart has been since day one. It is of course sad for the band, the fans and everyone involved to see an important member leave but if that is his wish we accept and respect his decision. We owe it to everyone involved to continue what has only been started... Pontus has been with us from the start and will in some senses of course always be a part of Dead by April as he will continue to write songs with us. So don`t be to alarmed, nothing is different in the songwriting department!
"There are however some differences in the singing and guitar departments, or to be very specific: We have a new vocalist. We decided that we didn`t really need two guitars for the sound and felt that we just wanted to focus on finding a great singer and a great personality who was willing to give this his everything and together take this band to new heights. That guy is that very same some of you might have seen filling in for Pontus before: Zandro Zantiago Zandro stepped in to fill Pontus place on short notices and has always done a great job and with time he has accelerated into a great fit for us. He became a member in our hearts before even really joining and tomorrow in Gothenburg he can finally do his first gig as an official member of Dead By April! We hope all of you give him a great welcome to this band and stand behind him fully as we all do." More...
As was previously announced, Drummer Erik Thyselius of Swedish metal act Scarpoint will be filling in for Alexander Svenningson of Dead By April. Erik has now issued the following update:
"Hey fuckers!! Sitting on the train on my way down to Gothenburg. Am a bit pissed since Sweden lost against Slovakia in the Olympic icehockey game but I´m really looking forward to todays rehearsal with Dead By April (here on refered as DBA). As soon as I get to Gothenburg I´m going to my PDP and Sabian office to pick up my kit and the other stuff that I´m gonna use during this trip. For all of you drum nerds, usually I have a lot of different cymbals and stuff when I play, this time I had to take away a lot of cymbals cause I will not use them and it would just be additional weight to the already heavy drum cases and hardware.
"After we´ve picked up my stuff we´ll be heading straight to the DBA rehearsing room for a couple of hours of rehearsal. Will get back later on with that report. Until then as always, Stay twisted fuckers!!"
Drummer Erik Thyselius of Swedish metal act Scarpoint has issued the following update about filling in for Dead By April's Alexander Svenningson at an upcoming Swedish tour date:
"Hey fuckers!! So as I promised last week I have some interesting news. I will be filling in for Alex in Dead By April on their upcoming gig the 26th of February in Sälen in Sweden. It´s gonna be a blast to do this and it´s gonna be really fun to party with our boys from DBA again. So if you are in Sälen that weekend come and se the show and have a drink with me! Hope to see you there and stay twisted fuckers!!"
Opeth has issued the following update about their drummer Martin Axenrot appearing in an animal rights calendar:
"Djurens Rätt, Sweden's largest non-profit animal rights organization asked if Axe and his cat Max would be interested in being photographed for a very special calendar of Rock Stars and their pets. Axe being a big animal lover didn't hesitate one second which resulted in Max & Axe being Misters July!
"Members of Amon Amarth, Crucified Barbara, Dead by April, Dia Psalma, Hammerfall, Mando Diao, Millencolin, Motörhead, Sonic Syndicate, The Hives & The Soundtrack of Our Live all had their pics taken with their pets as well so if you want to see a slightly different side of your favourite rock band we suggest you order one of these beauties right away.
