Dead By April Splits With Vocalist
Dead By April has posted the following message online about parting ways with vocalist Jimmie Strimell:
"First of all excuse us for taking time to declare the rumors that has flourished the internet the past days. We’re deeply sorry to inform you that Jimmie Strimell no longer will be a part of Dead By April.
"The reason we had to make this decision is because of Jimmie’s personal problems. His problems has affected the band for many years and we have basically tried everything we could to make this work. We have even gone through group therapy lately to get honesty and sincerity into the group. As nothing changed we had to realize that if we want to move forward with this band there’s unfortunately no other way but to continue without Jimmie. We’re sick of not knowing whether he’ll turn up for shows, recordings and sick of having such bad environment within the band – at all time. It came to a point where we could not be in the same vehicle. More...

Johan also posted the following statement about the split:
"We have had some differences and been going in different directions for a while and there's always a certain point you reach when you need to really decide if you can go forward together or not. So I have decided to leave Dead by April to focus mainly on my own music and bands. Also give time to my other projects like my clothing company 'Suckerpunch Clothing' as well as of course my family and friends. It is every kids dream to be a 'rockstar' and you always have to balance the good against the bad. More...

Dead By April Comments On Killing Joke Cover
Sweden's Dead By April has issued the following statement about the band's cover of "Love Like Blood" by Killing Joke:
"Don't worry boys and girls, 'Love like blood' is NOT like some seem to believe a sign of what's going to become of Dead by April. On the contrary 'Love like blood' is an exclusive cover song by the band 'Killing Joke' made for a tribute album due to later this year including Metallica, Foo fighters etc. so simply a homage to a cool band!
"People have been emailing and commenting about how the new song doesn't 'sound like us' as much, well there you have your answer! Hope you will enjoy the song anyways since we thinks it`s great and was a fun cover to make! New DBA songs are right now in the making and they are bigger, heavier and more dynamic than ever before! That`s a promise!"

Dead By April Recruits New Vocalist
Dead By April has issued the following announcement about parting ways with guitarist/vocalist Pontus Hjelm:
"Pontus has after some time off from the band decided to leave Dead by April permanently. He feels that he wants to focus on his work as a songwriter, which is where much of his heart has been since day one. It is of course sad for the band, the fans and everyone involved to see an important member leave but if that is his wish we accept and respect his decision. We owe it to everyone involved to continue what has only been started... Pontus has been with us from the start and will in some senses of course always be a part of Dead by April as he will continue to write songs with us. So don`t be to alarmed, nothing is different in the songwriting department!
"There are however some differences in the singing and guitar departments, or to be very specific: We have a new vocalist. We decided that we didn`t really need two guitars for the sound and felt that we just wanted to focus on finding a great singer and a great personality who was willing to give this his everything and together take this band to new heights. That guy is that very same some of you might have seen filling in for Pontus before: Zandro Zantiago Zandro stepped in to fill Pontus place on short notices and has always done a great job and with time he has accelerated into a great fit for us. He became a member in our hearts before even really joining and tomorrow in Gothenburg he can finally do his first gig as an official member of Dead By April! We hope all of you give him a great welcome to this band and stand behind him fully as we all do." More...
Scarpoint Drummer Filling In For Dead By April
As was previously announced, Drummer Erik Thyselius of Swedish metal act Scarpoint will be filling in for Alexander Svenningson of Dead By April. Erik has now issued the following update:
"Hey fuckers!! Sitting on the train on my way down to Gothenburg. Am a bit pissed since Sweden lost against Slovakia in the Olympic icehockey game but I´m really looking forward to todays rehearsal with Dead By April (here on refered as DBA). As soon as I get to Gothenburg I´m going to my PDP and Sabian office to pick up my kit and the other stuff that I´m gonna use during this trip. For all of you drum nerds, usually I have a lot of different cymbals and stuff when I play, this time I had to take away a lot of cymbals cause I will not use them and it would just be additional weight to the already heavy drum cases and hardware.
"After we´ve picked up my stuff we´ll be heading straight to the DBA rehearsing room for a couple of hours of rehearsal. Will get back later on with that report. Until then as always, Stay twisted fuckers!!"

It´s gonna be a blast to do this and it´s gonna be really fun to party with our boys from DBA again. So if you are in Sälen that weekend come and se the show and have a drink with me! Hope to see you there and stay twisted fuckers!!"
Martin Axenrot Appears In Animal Rights Calendar
Opeth has issued the following update about their drummer Martin Axenrot appearing in an animal rights calendar:
"Djurens Rätt, Sweden's largest non-profit animal rights organization asked if Axe and his cat Max would be interested in being photographed for a very special calendar of Rock Stars and their pets. Axe being a big animal lover didn't hesitate one second which resulted in Max & Axe being Misters July!
"Members of Amon Amarth, Crucified Barbara, Dead by April, Dia Psalma, Hammerfall, Mando Diao, Millencolin, Motörhead, Sonic Syndicate, The Hives & The Soundtrack of Our Live all had their pics taken with their pets as well so if you want to see a slightly different side of your favourite rock band we suggest you order one of these beauties right away.
"Swedish fans can buy it here and if you live abroad you can go to this location (PayPal only). All profit goes straight into the important work these nice people at Djurens Rätt do."
