Finnish symphonic death metal band Eternal Tears Of Sorrow posted an update on the band's forthcoming seventh release, yet untitled. The impending album is the follow up to 2009's "Children of Dark the Waters."
On the recently lanunched Official Website, guitarist Jarmo "Webmaster" Puolakanaho posted the following update:
"Welcome to our site, welcome 2012!
Happy new year 2012 guys and gals! The year 2011 was intriguing for us. We recorded the first half of the forthcoming album. If everything had gone as planned, we would have had our seventh album almost finished by now. However, due to some unfortunate incidents, the second recording session has been rescheduled to next spring.
But anyway, 2012 is going to be an exciting year for us, and we're probably going to have some exciting news next year! We hope your year will be great, too!"
Finland's Eternal Tears of Sorrow has checked in with the following brief update from the studio about the band's progress recording new material:
"Greetings from the studio! All vocals for the first session were recorded during the weekend and all we can say: Sounds damn heavy! We decided to celebrate the milestone with couple of beers and by diving into arctic snowball pool."
Eternal Tears of Sorrow has also posted more photos from the recording studio via the band's Facebook profile at this location.
Eternal Tears of Sorrow has checked in with the following announcement about recording six new songs for an upcoming release:
"As we already told on our Facebook page, we have finished our first recording session at Tico-Tico Studios. We are recording this album in two main sessions + some extra sessions throughout this year. This way has proven to be the best for us and our timetables and we've been using the same 'take it slowly, make it good' method ever since our comeback in 2005.
"What we did during the past weeks was recording the basic tracks for six songs. Now, it's time for a short summer holiday after which we're going to do the vocals and the keyboard tracks, and, of course, to write more new songs for the second main recording session, which is going to take place at the end of this year.
"Trying to verbally describe the new songs is like trying to draw how they sound like. And even if we somehow managed to describe how the new songs sound like, they only represent one half of the forthcoming album.
"Anyway, it has been announced that we're going to play our second (and last) gig in 2011 at Jyrkka Festival in Pudasjärvi. Which is nice, as this band was formed in the very same town and as a matter of fact, we played our very first gig on the same stage fourteen years ago. And now, after eleven years, we're coming back to our original home town. Nice."

Eternal Tears of Sorrow has issued the following update about the band's recent and upcoming activity:
"Hello guys and gals, it's been a long time since we've been writing a blog entry here, so I suppose it's time to summarize what we've been doing during the past 12 months. We started our Finnish / European tour a year ago with several gigs here in Finland. You know, between 2001 and 2008, we only played four gigs(!) of which only one took place outside Oulu, our hometown(!!). There were a lot of reasons for not playing live shows during that time, and the most important reason was that between late 2001 and late 2004, we were in an inactive state - in short, this band didn't even exist at that time.
"But during the last 12 months, we've been doing more gigs than ever (excluding the year 2000 that was an exception in many ways). So, thanks to all who came to see us in Finland, Romania and Russia! We still have one more gig this year - Hamburg in a couple of weeks. There may be a gig or two next year, but we want to work on our next album in 2011.
"Currently, we're writing new songs. We already got a lot of 'em but you know, there's always room for new great songs. We have several ideas on how the next album should sound like... I can't tell you guys much about the ideas but let's just say we (once again) want to be versatile and try to to something new. We also want to make the album heavier, more extreme, more beautiful, more atmospheric than ever before.. Well, not in one song but as a whole. More...

We still have no official live show dates (as most of Finland is having its summer holiday right now) but we should come up with them soon. In addition, we're trying to get many foreign live shows, too.

Eternal Tears of Sorrow has issued the following announcement about parting ways with their guitar player:
"Unfortunately, we have to announce that our solo guitarist Risto Ruuth has left Eternal Tears of Sorrow. The situation came to us as a total surprise. We have no information on the reasons or the background behind his decision. We received Risto's a unilateral declaration a week ago.
"During the past week, we have done everything possible to find a replacement in time so that we could make it to do the confirmed live dates according to the previously established timetable. Unfortunately, it has proven to be an exceedingly difficult task with this schedule, and thus it will affect the confirmed live dates.
"Eternal Tears of Sorrow will get on the stage as soon as the hole in the line-up has been refilled. More information on this topic will be published shortly.
"At the same time, we announce the search for solo guitarist for the band. The guitarist we're looking for should be diverse, full of ideas and creative. Above all, his feet should be firmly on the solid ground, he should motivated to the task, and should be able to manage the role of the solo guitarist in our band.
"If you are interested in this mission, send free-form application, info-packet and the call audio samples or video form, to: eternaltears2009[at]gmail.com"

The new female singer of the Finnish melodic metal masters Tacere is "Taiya R." from Tampere, Finland. She was selected after a long application process lasting for over 6 months.

Making a decision about the new singer was hard as there were a lot of talented applicants, some of who already had existing publicity and status. But in Taiya we found the perfect singer: She is extremely talented, looks killer, has a very cool attitude & stage presence and most importantly her personality fits the band perfectly. Now with the new line-up the motivation of the band is higher than ever and we're really excited about the future of our band."
Tacere is planning to enter the studios in February 2009 to start recording a follow up for the 2007 debut album "Beautiful Darkness." The release date has yet to be announced as the band is still looking for a proper partner to release the album with.
