Swedish metal band Tribulation and Century Media Records are proud to announce a worldwide deal to spread the band's upcoming aural horrors.
The band is in the studio right now to record its third album, which is expected to be released in April 2015 after wrapping up a U.S. tour with genre titans Behemoth and Cannibal Corpse.
The band comments: "We are very pleased to announce that we have signed a worldwide deal with Century Media Records. Our journey has been slow but steady, but it is now time for us to stretch our black wings further throughout the world and we are sure that Century Media Records is the label that can help us do that.
"Die Todten reiten schnell...* In early December we will once again enter the studio, this time to record our third album. We have covered ourselves in the darkness of the divine and the ghastly and have emerged with something that we truly believe in. Though it is an album that is in every inch Tribulation, expect nothing and let the music take you to the unexpected. It is a journey in its own right, for us to travel with the music that we make and at each turn it takes we are closing in on a goal that is hopefully forever out of our reach. Thus, we now prepare to die to let a new shape of the vampyre return in 2015."
(* Gottfried August Bürger, 1773)
Jens Prueter, Head Of A&R Century Media Records Europe, is equally pleased and comments: "I first saw Tribulation in July 2011 in a small club in Oberhausen and was impressed by their unique kind of Death Metal. Their debut album was deeply rooted in the mid to late 80's Death/Thrash/Black Metal but far away from a retro, old school sound. They took all classic influences and created their own universe - even more with the second album which was far beyond the formulas of death metal. I'm glad we had a good talk and cold beers back in 2011, and always remained in contact. Looking forward to working with them and help them to progress into something even bigger and darker." More...

As was announced yesterday, In Solitude will be returning to North America this Fall with Watain and Tribulation.
This will be In Solitude's first North American tour since the Decibel Magazine tour in 2012, which also happened to feature Watain. The tour runs from October 8th through November 3rd and will be in support of the upcoming album "Sister."
The album is set for release to coincide with the dates and In Solitude fans will be able to find new music streaming online within the next few weeks. Updates, including new music, album art, and pre-order bundles, will be posted as they are made available.
In Solitude vocalist Pelle Ahman comments: "We are tremendously enthusiastic to announce that In Solitude are coming back to America and Canada in October. We are especially delighted to do this in the company of our great companions of Watain and Tribulation. It is our great pleasure to take part in this grand malady. We can't wait to arrive and let it steal another sky from our eyes. See you in October." More...
With the release of their forthcoming full-length, "The Wild Hunt" drawing near (review coming soon), Swedish black metallers Watain are now ready to announce their first North American tour in support of the album.
Featuring In Solitude and Tribulation as support, this month-long headlining trek (aptly named "The Wild Hunt North America") showcases some of Sweden's finest metal from coast to coast. See below for all upcoming dates.
Watain comments: "Starting the first full tour for 'The Wild Hunt' in North America seems quite appropriate, considering how many severe experiences and sleepless nights that country has bestowed upon us while riding through its strange wilderness...A thousand years and a thousand deaths have passed since we last visited the States, so prepare yourself to face something very, very old and very, very hungry. Deformed from both victory and defeat, distorted by a constant influx of powers residing beyond the borders of this world, we now return to join forces with our ever loyal US supporters. With us we will have two acts that have the capacity of transforming the audience into one big open wound before we go on stage, ready then to receive the lethal yet illuminating venom of Watain." With more than 15,000 bands in our database, and hordes more than that in existence, every Monday we like to take a little time to highlight three underground bands that deserve your attention.
Usually our unearthed bands focus on a single sub-genre or geographic region, but today we’ll look bands that have all experienced a similar phenomena: the flip-flop. Favored maneuver of politicians everywhere, and for some reason also plenty of metal bands, these guys aren’t doing it to pick up more votes, as their flip-flips frequently cost them fans.
Metal has its fair share of musical flip-floppers who went from heavy to soft, vice versa, or smashed opposing elements together to create a different type of sound. Our previous look at three genre flip-floppers covered a variety of them, and there are even more well known acts that have taken this route, from Darkthrone to Anathema and Therion. Below you’ll find a sampling of three lesser known acts that have significantly changed sound from their earlier works.
This Swedish death metal act had a cult hit back in 2009 with debut full-length “The Horror” (reviewed here), which was a brutal and unrelenting take on death/thrash that never let up. Short but sweet, the tracks were brief bites of devastation that didn’t overstay their welcome.
Fast forward to 2013, and Tribulation is an altogether different beast. Unlike the other two bands we’ll look at today, this time the change in sound actually made the songs much longer than before. “The Formulas of Death” (check out the review) saw the band become a progressive death metal outfit with plenty of melody and unexpected stylistic shifts. If it weren’t for the remaining thrash influence in the guitar sounds and the recurring death vocals, this would essentially be two different bands.
Hear the difference yourself through the clips below taken from each album. There is a lot going on musically throughout the second album, so a single song doesn’t really give enough to digest the breadth of the change, but you can also check out the new song “When the Sky is Black with Devils” via the band’s Facebook profile.
The Ajna Offensive has announced May 14th as the North American street date for Tribulation's new album, "The Formulas of Death."
With "The Formulas of Death," Sweden's Tribulation returns to active service after working diligently on the sophomore album and follow-up to 2007's debut "The Horror" (reviewed here). The following press release was issued about the album:
"Expanding their sound entirely beyond the gnarly and vicious death metal that was heard on The Horror, Tribulation's The Formulas Of Death sees a much broader and expansive soundscape introduced, favouring atmosphere and evocative instrumental elements to contribute to a very different picture to that of its predecessor.
"Comparisons have been already made between the progression Morbid Angel made between Altars of Madness and Blessed Are the Sick and closer to home for Tribulation, the progression from Tiamat's Sumerian Cry to The Astral Sleep. Tribulation's The Formulas Of Death is an ambitious project for these still-young Swedes, which will undoubtedly take time to sink in to be fully appreciated." More...

Sweden's Tribulation has checked in with the following announcement about lining up European shows with Negative Plane:
"The Tribulation are proud to announce that they will join Negative Plane on their European tour later this year. These will be the last shows of 'The March of the Vampyre' under the album 'The Horror' to give it a worthy ending before a new era of The Tribulation comes to a start.
"These shows will be very special to us, and we hope that you will come to share the magick that we will put into each performance with us. The route will start at Hell’s Pleasure festival, the rest of the shows will be announced soon. As ever – The Ghosts from the North."
Details on the venues and tour dates will be announced as they are made available.
Sweden's Tribulation has issued the following update about canceling the band's appearance at the Peace & Love festival:
"No more Peace. Tribulation are sad to announce to the people that awaited their performance on Peace & Love that it is hereby canceled due to force majeure. Tribulation would still like to thank the people who took this long shot and tried to make it happen. Apparently something didn't want this odd ordeal to take place. Concerning the upcoming album, more news will be revealed in due time. As ever, The Ghouls."
Additional details on Tribulation's new album will be announced as they are made available.
Sweden's Tribulation has issued the following announcement about working on new material to record next year:
"It's been almost a year since the release of the critically acclaimed debut album 'The Horror' and Tribulation would like to thank everyone who has bought the album so far, and everyone who showed up on the 'Icons of Evil'-tour last spring making it such a victorious journey for us. Since then we've played some occasional gigs, among them at the Thunders over Miriquidi Festival in Germany along side the mighty Death SS & Törr.
"Next year we'll mainly be focusing on writing and recording a new album. New material is more or less boiling up and emerging from everywhere, forcing it's way out into existence. It is lethal venom and it's deadlier than ever before. Nest year will also see Tribulation continuing playing live. Some festivals are booked and more is to come. Another tour is also in the making. Nothing more can be said about this at the moment, but in time..."
Floridian extreme metallers, ORDER OF ENNEAD, are currently on the road as part of the Icons Of Evil European tour with VITAL REMAINS, SLUDGE and TRIBULATION.
ORDER OF ENNEAD frontman KEVIN QUIRION checks in from the road with the first part of his tour diary:
"Day 1 Travel day. Oh the joys of waiting at airports they are endless and not worth mentioning.
"Day 2 Had the day to walk around Amsterdamn before the bus picked us up. Met up with Dave Kinkade (drummer supreme) and checked out some coffee shops and walked around the red light district. Good times. Caught up with the Vital guys roaming around the same section of town, who knew? Took a picture with Darth Vader, the Netherlands version. He's slightly thinner and has an accent, probably blonde hair too. Around 6pm we went back to the airport to meet up with Massive Music and the guys in Tribulation." More...
