Considered one of the world's premier one-man death metal acts, North Carolina's Bloodsoaked reached a new level of critical acclaim with the release of "The Death of Hope," ten songs of unholy death metal taking you back to the early 90's in its brutality and precision. That album features guest guitar solos by the iconic shredder James Murphy, and you can view the official video from it, "No God," below.
Death is just the beginning, so says the title of Nuclear Blast’s compilation series. In the case of The Goregrowler’s Ball 5, death was just the beginning on Friday. Once Sunday, the third and final day of the fest arrived, many were feeling death was never ending. After three days of having one’s body blasted by the hardest, fastest and loudest music known to man, a headache or two afflicted more than one of the band members and ticket purchasers. Due to little seating, the vendors claimed most of the seating inside, many found a curb or fence to rest their ailing backs and feet.
Those taking in all three days were not about to give in to their fatigue, though. While just about everyone took occasional retreats to the parking lot to recharge at their cars (and party), most third-day attendees hung in to the very end. These metal warriors conjured the strength to bang bodies (even after massive bruising) one more time during Suffocation’s closing set.
Unfortunately, the number of purchases at the door was significantly less than the first two days. Hirax and Brutal Truth made climatic performances. Even before taking in our first act of the day, The Goregrowler’s Ball lone stoner/doom band, Pill Crusher, we felt something was amiss. According to a post on promoter Aaron Mendiola’s Facebook page, Sunday continued the trend of the previous days with a headcount fewer than 100 paying customers. The number of band members, vendors and sponsors gave the false impression of more money being exchanged. Because of the poor turn out, bands weren’t paid, a custom guitar was taken away from its raffle and raffle ticket holders weren’t refunded their money, and bands cancelled. More...
Due to contract obligations with their record label, Woods of Ypres is forced to cancel their appearance at this year's Goregrowler's Ball. The band will be writing and recording a new album instead and apologizes to their fans for this cancellation and promised to make it up.
Replacing Woods of Ypres on this Metalunderground.com-sponsored festival will be Dehumanized, who has not played a live show in nearly ten years.
Tickets for the fifth annual Goregrowler's Ball are on sale now. The event is set to take place in San Antonio, Texas on November 18-20, 2011.

North Carolina's Bloodsoaked has issued the following announcement about revealing the cover artwork for the new album "The Death of Hope:"
"Here it is, the brand new cover art and track listing. The two re-recorded songs are my two favorite songs from the first CD that I feel deserve a much better production. I have been writing the entire new CD with Brent Williams, the drummer for Atrocious Abnormality. Brent has sparked new blood in the writing process as will be very evident once the recording is complete.
"At this time it is still un-clear if I will record with Brent or stick with the programmed drums. Shane McFee is still programming my live drums as he did on the last Bloodsoaked album 'Sadistic Deeds Grotesque Memories.' The cover art for the new CD was done by Jumali Katani, the complete layout will be done by Steve/Comatose Music."
