Background
"Black Label Society" is a heavy metal/Southern Metal band formed by Zakk Wylde, with 8 albums released to date. The first, Sonic Brew, was released in 1999. The band's latest studio album "Shot To Hell" was released on the 11th (UK) and 12th (US) of September 2006, the first release under Roadrunner Records, and was produced by Michael Beinhorn (Soundgarden, Ozzy Osbourne, Red Hot Chili Peppers).
In 1992, Ozzy retired after the No More Tears tour, which left Zakk to form his own solo band Pride & Glory, blending potent bluesy southern rock with heavy metal. In 1994 Ozzy decided to come out of retirement, and the numerous recording sessions for Ozzmosis took place. Around this time, Zakk was also offered the open guitar slot in Guns N' Roses and had a hard time deciding whether to tour with Ozzy or join Guns N' Roses. Neither project panned out. This gave Wylde the opportunity to record his own acoustic solo album, "Book of Shadows." After limited commercial success with Book Of Shadows, in 1998, Zakk and drummer Phil Ondich formed Black Label Society and recorded their debut album "Sonic Brew." Nick Catanese has been Zakk's rhythm guitarist since the Book Of Shadows tour. Craig Nunenmacher has been drumming since 1919 Eternal (2001) following Phil's departure.
Black Label Society headlined the second stage at this year's Ozzfest (US). Tickets for fall dates in the US have gone on sale, and the band will tour Australia, New Zealand and the UK in late 2006 and early 2007.
The song "Fire It Up", from the 2005 album Mafia, featured as a bonus song in the PlayStation 2 game ''Guitar Hero''.
On June 29, 2006, "Concrete Jungle", the first single from "Shot to Hell" was released online via Blabbermouth.net, which is owned by the band's new record label Roadrunner Records. The single's , directed by

Terrible had promised he would both compete in the ring and perform live with his band on the same day—and he delivered on both fronts. Alongside Slaughter To Prevail, the event also featured sets from Black Label Society, Crowbar, and Malevolence.
In his bout, Terrible came up short against Cameron “The Bull” Delano, who improved his record to 2–0. Following the fight, Terrible addressed the crowd in a post-fight interview, stating: More...

Black Label Society Reveals New Album Details
Black Label Society have announced their eleventh studio album, "Doom Crew Inc.," out November 26 via Entertainment One (eOne). Today, the band releases the track, "Set You Free." Check out the absurdly ridiculous video for the first single, below.
The album will be available digitally, on CD and vinyl, plus a deluxe edition that includes vinyl, CD longbox, cassette and more.
The 12-track album is both a tribute to the band’s “first to bleed, last to leave'' road crew, and a salute to the legion whose support, stretching back to 1998, rivals that of the KISS Army. The stomping, heavy, bluesy, recklessly unhinged hard-rock-metal quartet are part invading horde, and part traveling carnival - summoning caffeine-fueled cacophony on records and the stage.
The songs are odes to celebration and mourning, the soundtracks to jubilant evenings and bewildering days recorded in Zakk’s home studio, the Black Vatican. On this album, Zakk trades solos and twin-guitar parts with Dario Lorina, backed by the rumble of longtime bassist, John “J.D.” DeServio, and powerhouse drummer, Jeff Fabb.
"We incorporated Father Dario even more into the solos, doubling with me and being more involved in that regard,” said frontman, Zakk Wylde. "It really, truly is a two-guitar album, more so than ever. A twin guitar band, whether it’s the Allman Brothers or Judas Priest, with harmony lines, unison lines, and trading off solos. It stemmed from the live shows, where we’d both go into the crowd and extend songs like ‘Fire It Up.’" More...

"The original recording back in 1997 was mastered with high volume, alcohol, and dance," says Wylde from his home studio. "We went in and worked off the existing performances and focused on the high volume and dance while replacing the booze with viagra and anabolic steroids." More...
Steve Vai Etc. 2nd ‘Generation Axe Tour’ Announced

Steve Vai, Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne, Black Label Society) Yngwie Malmsteen, Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme,) and Tosin Abasi (Animals As Leaders) team up for a second run of their ‘Generation Axe Tour‘. Bassist Pete Griffin (Giraffe Tongue Orchestra, Dweezil Zappa, etc.), keyboardist Nick Marionovich (Yngwie Malmsteen) and drummer JP Bouvet will join them on the tour as the backing band.
Comments Steve Vai:
“‘The Generation Axe‘ experience goes way beyond simply gathering five guitar greats on one stage to jam. The idea was to create a seamless show with one backing band and 5 completely accomplished and astonishing guitarists that take to the stage in various configurations, performing some of their solo music and merging together as cohesive co-creators of lushly orchestrated guitar extravaganzas. Guitar Jams like this can get really messy when there is no organization and my idea was to create parts for everybody to play in harmony and off each other so it’s not a mess of noise. This worked out remarkably well. There are places where everyone is playing together in wild harmony.”
Below's where that trek will stop: More...
