We’re now past the halfway point to Bloodstock this year with 20 weekends left before the UK’s biggest metal weekender. Today the festival's organizers issued this update about the lineup:
"Anthemic black metal crew Winterfylleth joins the main stage fray. Fifth album ‘The Dark Hereafter’ was released last October by Candlelight Records/Spinefarm. Check out the epic tracks via Bandcamp.
"We’re also excited to reveal a handful of bands for the Sophie Lancaster stage. Dendera brings classic metal to Bloodstock for a Friday slot. The band has a third studio album set for release this year, so expect new material!
"Saturday sees doomsters Kroh join the Sophie bill. Kroh is the brainchild of Paul Kenney, founder member of both Mistress and Fukpig. Go watch the video for ‘Mother Serpent’ and get the latest on the band on Facebook. More...
Atmospheric post-everything band Bossk has joined the Deathwish family to release the "Pick Up Artist" EP. The label comments:
"The band released four promising recordings ('1,' '2,' the '3' DVD, and a split EP w/ Rinoa) on their own Eyes Of Sound label before taking temporary hiatus in 2008. After four years of dormancy, Bossk awoke from their slumber collectively inspired to create in 2012. The band soon performed at UK's Damnation Festival In the Fall of 2012, and entered the studio to record the 'Pick Up Artist.'
"A seven minute textural epic that is crushingly heavy and uniquely melodic. Crashing forward in two unique movements, 'Pick Up Artist' has a hypnotic ebb and flow that carries Bossk past obvious influences (Isis, Neurosis, etc.) as they expand into new uncharted territory. The song was released to the public via free download in the Fall of 2012 to critical acclaim. More...
Following the success of 2012's "Widowmaker," Dragged Into Sunlight has announced a series of tour dates this May in the UK and Ireland. This will mark the first time the band has toured the UK in three years. Joining them will be experimental juggernaut Bossk, themselves touring the UK for the first time in six years. Here are the latest tour dates:
5/24 The Pint, Dublin, Ireland.
5/25 Birthdays, London, UK.
5/26 Alter Ego, Manchester, UK.
5/27 Audio, Glasgow, UK.
5/28 The Library, Leeds, UK.
The band has unleashed the following trailer in anticipation of the tour:
Tom Begley, bassist with defunct celebrated post-metal/sludge outfit Bossk, has formed The Mire along with former members of Brighton-based technical metalcore unit Centurion. Eyesofsound will be making the band's two-song demo available for free as a download and CD from their website in the very near future. Meanwhile, a new song entitled "Wheelwalker" can be heard on the band's MySpace player.
Bossk's final release, a split vinyl with Rinoa is due soon. It contains a new song and new studio recording of a live favorite from Rinoa and a new live track, "Events Occur In Real Time," from Bossk.
Eyesofsound is set for a strictly limited release that brings together the late Bossk with labelmates Rinoa.
Rinoa follow up their stunning debut EP with new song "Fires In The Distant North" and live favourite "Eyes Closed," a newly recorded song that pre-dates the EP. Both were recorded in January 2009 at Bandit Studios with Jonny Renshaw of Devil Sold His Soul.
Fresh out of the studio, Rinoa guitarist, Jozef Norocky also of Symmetry speaks about the recording:
"One of the best weekends ever... Jonny is the most accommodating person there is and he's done an amazing job making the new songs sound astronomically huge."
The Bossk side will feature previously unreleased material, details of which are to be finalized with the band. Bossk unfortunately called it a day in October 2008 so rare live material is what can be expected. Keep a look out for further news on this.
To be released only on vinyl with a digital download voucher and limited to 500 hand numbered copies, this release will be available exclusively from Eyesofsound.
In the meantime you can check out a pre-mastered version of "Eyes Closed" by Rinoa on their Myspace page.
You can also catch Rinoa headlining an intimate show at The Fighting Cocks in Kingston, London on Friday 30th January 2009, support comes from Latitudes and Dragged Into Sunlight.
Pre-orders will start on February 9th 2009.
