Digital download store Metalhit.com has launched the first of many future monthly compilations to be available for free download worldwide. Owner, Mike Riddick, comments:
"What’s unique about these monthly compilations is that they will feature as-of-yet unreleased tracks from metal bands spanning a variety of genres. Metalheads want to be ‘in the know’ on the latest titles, and what better way to do this than to offer up legal downloads of the latest from metal’s greatest labels...days-to-weeks before their official release!"
Metalhit’s first compilation includes 11 downloadable tracks from Agoraphobic Nosebleed, While Heaven Wept, Blut Aus Nord, Feral, Necros Christos, Nightshade, Putridity, Satan’s Host, Spearhead, Hope for the Dying, and Leaves’ Eyes.
The compilation can be downloaded at this location. Another set of free songs will be available in May.
"Destroyer Of Solace," a track off the new album by While Heaven Wept, is currently available for streaming online. Click here to check out the new song. Guitarist, song writer and founding member Tom Phillips gives a little insight on the track:
"Jim [Hunter] totally nailed the sick bass run in one take. Clearly, this is Bathory and Immortal inspired yet totally WHW nonetheless. And of course, as with all WHW material, it is rooted in real life events and relationships. Or, rather specifically, one. The bottom line is the album comes from the deepest wells of my heart, and it really requires several listens to understand... even for me. Anyway, it is the beginning of the end of a process of bereavement that began with the VOL album."
"Fear Of Infinity," the Virginia based band’s Nuclear Blast debut, will be released in North America on May 3rd and April 22nd in Europe. The release is the follow-up studio album to 2009’s "Vast Oceans Lachrymose."

While Heaven Wept is officially leaving the Cruz Del Sur Music roster and has signed a new record deal with Nuclear Blast Records. Enrico Leccese of Cruz Del Sur Music issued the following statement:
"I started working with Tom Phillips on the release of what was going to be Vast Oceans Lachrymose in June 2006. Almost three and a half years later, the release of VOL hit the market provoking an amazing reaction from the people who already loved WHW, but also conquering thousands of new fans. From then on, it was an exciting ride which has seen the CD re-release of their long out-of-print previous albums, a series of glorious live shows and the peak represented by the forthcoming release of their first live album Triumph: Tragedy: Transcendence available in a CD/DVD limited edition and on vinyl on Cruz del Sur Music. It was inevitable that WHW would catch the interest of bigger labels and I am not angry or disillusioned at all. I mainly see their going to a respectable and leading label as Nuclear Blast as a honor and a recognition of our work."
Jaap Wagemaker of Nuclear Blast commented: "Nuclear Blast is extremely elated to announce the signing of While Heaven Wept! Last year we were totally blown away by the release of the album Vast Oceans Lachrymose (out on Cruz del Sur Music) from the US genre-defining and genre-defying metal band While Heaven Wept! After months of talking with mastermind Tom Philips we are very happy to announce that WHW has joined the Nuclear Family!! While Heaven Wept are already in the studio recording their follow up album Fear of Infinity which will be out April 2011."
While Heaven Wept's Tom Phillips also stated: "It made perfect sense for us to align with Nuclear Blast, who also have been committed to offering only the very best in the world of Heavy Metal. Through this partnership, we will surely be able to continue delivering the best productions possible while presenting our musical vision in a different arena, betraying neither our past nor our ideals. Nuclear Blast's support of our musical identity is truly an honor, and everyone who has stood by us all along these years need not worry; While Heaven Wept is what it is, and cannot be anything else. Expect the unexpected. We look forward to revealing our new album Fear Of Infinity together with Nuclear Blast very soon!"

On the live release coming together, front man Tom Phillips states: "The performance features an equal balance of material from all of our albums, and features a good amount of improvisation ala Rainbow circa 1976, making this a very special release indeed." The band has also uploaded the song "Of Empires Forlorn" via the While Heaven Wept MySpace page.

While Heaven Wept is currently working on the forthcoming release of a new live album "Triumph:Tragedy:Transcendence – Live At The Hammer Of Doom Festival," which is set for a November 2010 release date. "Triumph:Tragedy:Transcendence" will be made available as a CD/DVD set courtesy of Cruz Del Sur Music, as well as a 2xLP set via a joint collaboration between Cruz Del Sur Music, Iron Kodex, and High Roller Records. The DVD portion will contain several bonus features that will be detailed after the band finishes the studio work on the masters.
The live album is a 24-track audio capture of While Heaven Wept's performance at the Posthalle in Würzburg, Germany on February 6th, 2010. The final master will be later synchronized to the multi-camera pro-shot footage, resulting in the band's very first DVD.
While Heaven Wept's Tom Phillips stated, "The audio quality of this release is incredible – perhaps in some ways better than even Vast Oceans Lachrymose - along with the excellent energy of the performances and the excitement of the improvisations. The video is even more amazing, so expertly filmed and edited by our friends at Streetclip TV in Germany."
While Heaven Wept has issued the following update:
"It is with deep regret that we announce the cancellation of our appearances at Metalcamp 2010 as well as the Born To Be Doomed festival in Baltimore this year. Cancelling any show is very difficult for us emotionally and spiritually...those of you who have been with us for a while know that we've even brought in stand-in musicians to make things happen in the past, but unfortunately, sometimes things simply don't work out no matter what we do."
"Regarding Metalcamp, extenuating circumstances that neither the Metalcamp organization nor WHW ourselves could resolve...despite exhausting every last possibility...have resulted in WHW being cancelled from the billing for this year. Part of this can be attributed to conflicting schedules, along with truly outrageous expenses, and a few other personal matters that we'll make public when appropriate (don't worry, they're not malign). The bottom line is we hope that we'll be able to reschedule for Metalcamp 2011 (or after), and will let you know if and when this is sorted out." More...
While Heaven Wept's Tom Phillips recently issued a statement on upcoming shows and planned releases:
"There has been an incredible amount of activity going on 'behind-the-scenes' since the amazing experience that was Hammer Of Doom 3, and while I'm not at liberty to discuss everything just yet, I wanted to let everyone know about a handful of gigs that we've recently confirmed our participation in:
July 2nd/3rd, 2010: Born To Be Doomed Festival, The Sidebar Tavern, Baltimore, Maryland, USA with Blood Farmers, Orodruin, Revelation, Iron Man, Cyrus, Blizaro, Age Of Taurus, Sanctus Bellum, Black Cowgirl, and Yet So Far (aka the "Yet So Far" and "Frozen Masque" line-up of Revelation, including our own Jim Hunter) plus 3 more bands TBA
July 6th-10th, 2010: Metalcamp, Metal Camp Festival Area, Tolmin, Slovenia with Immortal, Behemoth, Hammerfall, Cannibal Corpse, Six Feet Under, Nevermore, Sonata Arctica, Paradise Lost, Obituary, Exodus, Sabaton, Overkill, Korpiklaani, Leave's Eyes, Ensiferum, Equilibrium, The Exploited, Decapitated, Epica, Insomnium, Kalmah, The Devil's Blood, Crowbar, Ex Deo, Rotting Christ, Trail Of Tears, Suicidal Angels, Demonical, and MANY more!
March 11th/12th, 2011: Up The Hammers VI, An Club, Athens, Greece with Ruthless (US), Jaguar (UK), Martyr (NL), Emerald (CH), Wishdoom (GR) and many more TBA
"As we get closer to these events, we'll post specific information regarding the dates and times that we are scheduled to perform. We are also in the process of planning additional US and EU dates right now, so keep your ears and eyes open for quite a few more gigs TBA.
"On the release front, we are very pleased to announce a new 7" single for 'Vessel' will be released via a joint cooperation between Maniacal Records and High Roller Records in the next 8 weeks or so. The A side will feature the 'Single Edit Version' previously only available on the download-only 'Vast Oceans Lachrymose Singles EP' (and streaming here on MySpace), while the B side will feature the previously unreleased alternate mix/master taken from the EU media promo - never made available to the general public.
"Over the summer, we'll continue our commemoration of our 20th Anniversary with the release of the long out-of-print 'Lovesongs Of The Forsaken' EP on 180g vinyl - and depending upon what sources I'm able to locate in the WHW archives, this may in fact be expanded with related material. Either way, this will once again be housed in a heavy sleeve and retain a similar layout to the other vinyl released earlier this year (which have been sold out since the pre-order phase). This will once again be a limited edition, and at this time, there are no plans for a CD pressing.
"We are aware of the ongoing demand for our past releases and the outrageous prices the limited editions are already commanding on eBay - please be patient with us while we discuss various options and possibilities. I assure you, at some point we will re-release both 'Sorrow Of The Angels' and 'Of Empires Forlorn' in an unlimited capacity; big plans exist for these, however our focus right now is upon the ongoing live shows in support of "Vast Oceans Lachrymose" and rehearsing the material for 'Fear Of Infinity' - which we hope to begin recording as soon as humanly possible.
"We're very much looking forward to seeing everyone out on the road, and extend our deep thanks to everyone who has already come out to one of our shows this year. Thanks also to everyone who voted for WHW in the various 2009 year-end polls!"
WISHDOOM has been confirmed for the UP THE HAMMERS VI FESTIVAL, along with RUTHLESS (USA), WHILE HEAVEN WEPT (USA), JAGUAR (UK), MARTYR (NL) and EMERALD (CH). The festival takes place March 11-12 in 2011. More...

Epic doom legends While Heaven Wept has teamed up with Cruz Del Sur Music for the release of their new album 'Vast Oceans Lachrymose' due out in late 2007.
The band writes on its website:
"Although there were many fair and generous offers from various entities after the untimely closure of Black Lotus Records, we felt that working with Cruz Del Sur Music would be the best option for us at this time, and that aside, several members of our extended musical family, including Slough Feg and Widow are part of the ever-growing (and strengthening) roster."More...
Virginia- based doomsters While Heaven Wept have posted the following update:
"The album is nearing completion.....we'll be resuming the sessions in May, and won't stop until the album is completed! The release date is uncertain, as it's primarily up to Black Lotus, but I imagine it will either be the last major release for them of this year or the first one of 2007. Believe me, once it's out, you won't miss it (massive promo campaigns are lined up everywhere).
Meanwhile, there's been a demo of the title track on the Myspace page for months now, and I'll be creating an "album overview" mp3 after the next sessions, with brief clips from every song. Our official website has been completely redesigned and will relaunch within 2 weeks for sure. Lots of new stuff on there.More...
