Obscene Extreme Comments On World Tour
This year marks 15 years of Obscene Extreme and to celebrate the occasion the organizers of the festival decided to go all out in extreme style by hosting an additional three festivals in three additional continents.
Over the last few months Obscene Extreme has appeared in Mexico City - Mexico, Jakarta - Indonesia, and Melbourne - Australia. There has been much success but also some failures and after some time at home to reflect on the adventure the man behind the whole idea, Curby, has spoken about the experience on the run up to the final Obscene Extreme Festival in Czech Republic this July:
"Hello freaks!!! This is Curby/obscene... I believe that you our loyal OEF fans have followed us on our tour so you probably know what happened but for those who haven't I would like to sum up our first ever OEF World tour. When I was pondering over our plans for the World tour I was really full of enthusiasm (and actually I still am). I hoped for something new but our first world volume was a really tough game, not only financially but also emotionally. It's very difficult to understand how big differences are between Europe, Mexico and Indonesia... I knew it would be different, but so much? What can you do if you pay everything in advance as in Mexico and people don't work at all? Not much... when you read my statements for every continent, you`ll understand me... More...
Final Bands Announced for Barge To Hell Cruise
The Barge To Hell is just days away from departure and final band announcements are being made. The cruise sets sail Monday, December 3rd, 2012 from Miami, FL to Nassau, Bahamas and returns on Friday, December 7th, 2012.
Just announced are Novembers Doom, Vital Remains, Brujeria and underground acts Abiotic, Zanthropya Ex, and Dark Sermon. The organizers also report that both the German and Canadian incarnations of Necronomicon will be in attendance.
With the announcement comes some bad news that Six Feet Under has had to cancel their appearance due to a scheduling conflict with their studio and needing to have their new album delivered in time.
You can still book a trip on the Barge To Hell.
The lineup is as follows: More...
Exodus And More Confirmed For Barge To Hell
The organizers of the Barge To Hell cruise have issued the following announcement about confirming Exodus, Seita, Havok, and Necronomicon:
"Let the world-wide EXODUS for BARGE TO HELL begin! Paying tribute to their global customer base, they've also added: SEITA from Brazil and The Netherlands, HAVOK from the USA, NECRONOMICON from Germany and HEADCRUSHER from Colombia!
"Barge To Hell's customer service team is working around the clock to get everything ready for those that are booked to perform online check-in. Booked passengers can expect to receive their online check-in invitation on Monday.
"The madness begins on December 3rd, when 40 of the most extreme Metal Bands and 2,000 headbangers from all over the world will go to the Caribbean to take over a luxury cruise ship for a 5 day and 4 night trip to the undead! See each of the 40 bands play two live shows on two different days. That's 80 shows with unrestricted festival access to the three stages, each with it's own unique atmosphere:
- The luxurious 'A Chorus Line' theater where they spare no expense to have the benches removed on the floor. Because at a Metal show, who actually wants assigned seating in front of the stage?
- The cozy 'Spectrum' that gives you the real club feeling.
- And their jewel: The open air stage on the pool deck. The biggest festival stage to sail the Oceans.
"You can also get all your memorabilia signed at the Meet & Greet sessions. Be part of their infamous Metal Karaoke and many other special activities with the Artists. And last, but not least: Don't forget that they have bars on board that never close! What are you waiting for? You might even need a vacation from this vacation when all is said and done."
The following 35 bands have now been confirmed: More...

Morbid Angel Returns to San Antonio
If Satan needed a house band in Hell, he could certainly call on Morbid Angel. Thanks to his guitar acrobatics, journalists have long dubbed band-founder Trey Azagthoth as the Eddie Van Halen of death metal. When the group emerged in 1989 with their first proper release, few, if any, could match the Mercury-footed speed of Pete Sandoval’s double-bass-blasting feet. The groove, mind-blowing skill and heretical lyrics and imagery landed the group at the top of the extreme metal world. Massive touring cycles transformed the band into one of the most prolific, underground touring acts of the 1990s. Their devilish music found its largest audience opening for Slayer and Pantera in the beginning of the new millennium.
After the Pantera gigs, Morbid Angel largely stayed out of the limelight. An opening stint for Soulfly in 2005 was the only North American tour I recall since Pantera. Assumingly, much of the crowd in attendance at Backstage Live in San Antonio had not seen the group in seven or even twelve years. Many long-time fans bemoaned “Illud Divinium Insanus,” the group’s first album in eight years, as the lowest point of artistry in the group’s near-thirty-year career. In fact, many of these fans felt the album was so poor they wouldn’t even venture out to see the band play, which is such a shame because they missed one of the best extreme metal tours of the year! Grave Announces New Album Release
Swedish death metal legends Grave will release their 10th studio album "Endless Procession Of Souls" on August 27th in Europe and on August 28th in North America via Century Media Records.
Recorded at Studio Soulless, "Endless Procession Of Souls" promises to be yet another death metal masterpiece in Grave's revered catalog, featuring nine tracks of uncompromising no-bullshit death metal.
In support of this upcoming release, the band will be touring North America with Morbid Angel and Dark Funeral this September/October. In regards to the album and tour, founding member Ola Lindgren (vocals/guitar) comments, "Grave will return to North America in September, sharing the madness with our comrades in Morbid Angel and Dardk Funeral. After the successful 'Into the Grave' sets we did in September last year, it will be very exciting to come back to promote the new album 'Endless Procession of Souls', which will be released August 28th in North America (Aug 27th in Europe) through Century Media Records. This killer bill is in extremo deluxe and will show you what brutality is all about...Beware the Winds of Chains!"
Dark Funeral's Lord Ahriman (guitar) adds, "We are extremely proud to announce our participation in the upcoming Morbid Angel tour throughout North American territories this fall. We will march alongside our Swedish comrades Grave and American death metal-bezerkers Vadimvon, and it is without a doubt that this very tour will surely be remembered as one of the most extreme tours of all time. Hence, we command all our loyal North American metal-demons to come out and celebrate utter darkness every night. It's time to ignite the black flame and show the world that the force of extreme metal is unrelenting." More...

Grave Checks In From The Studio
Grave recently signed a new worldwide deal with the band's initial home, Century Media Records, and will be releasing a 10th studio album in 2012 through the label.
The band is currently in the legendary Studio Soulless working on the album, and Ola Lindgren has the following update for anxious Grave fans:
"Greetings, y'all! Just a quick update on what's going on in the Grave camp. This past week, we started the process of recording the new album in our own Studio Soulless. It's been going very well and sounds killer already at this early stage with only drums and bass tracks done. Nine new songs plus three special tracks for various releases of the album have been recorded, and I would describe it as a mix of our latest two releases with some more old-school, groovy 'Soulless' parts.
"I'm looking forward to my first ever NAMM show -- hope to meet some of you there! Also worth mentioning is that we are moving the studio to a new location, and from late February onwards, I will be taking on mixing and mastering missions full-time. Any inquiries, please contact studiosoulless@grave.se."
More news about this upcoming release will be announced soon, so stay tuned.
Grave Enters Studio To Record 10th Album
Swedish death legends Grave entered Studio Soulless over this past weekend to begin recording the band's tenth album and first since the 2010 release "Burial Ground." The tentative title of the new album is "Endless Procession Of Souls" and will consist of twelve tracks, nine of which are originals along with three special tracks. The album is scheduled for a mid-2012 release date through Century Media Records.
The album will also feature new guitarist Mika Lagrén (Facebreaker) who replaced Magnus Martinsson after his departure in October 2011.

Grave Splits With Guitarist
Ola Lindgren of Swedish act Grave has issued the following announcement about splitting with guitarist Magnus Martinsson and beginning work on a new album:
"So back in dark, cold and rainy Sweden again after a successful North American tour. We had a great time and many great shows. Since we haven't headlined the US since 1996 we didn't know what to expect but i must say that we were pleasantly overwhelmed by the response from our fans. This gave us the kick in the nuts and the motivation to get back over there again in a near future. A huge special thanks to our kickass roadcrew: T-Wayne, T-Bone and The Colonel.
"Right now we're preparing for an epic night of oldschool madness. November 12:th we will play a very special anniversary gig at Club Distortion/Kulturhuset here in Stockholm. The classic Into the Grave album will be run through from 'Deformed' to 'Banished to Live' plus another handful classic tunes. Support acts are the mighty Vicious Art and General Surgery Be there or be square... Link to the event on FB here. More...

Grave Comments On North American Tour
Century Media Records has issued the following announcement about Grave starting a North American tour at the end of the month:
"As one of the very first Swedish death metal bands, the now classic Grave has inspired countless metal acts to deliver unrelenting death metal to the masses. While others have fallen victim to the latest music trends, they've persevered the metal ages by remaining true to their roots since their humble beginnings in 1988. They truly are the Motorhead of death metal-GRAVE has never broken-up, reunited, or deviated from their same, classic sound! To celebrate the longevity of their career and the 20th anniversary of their debut album, 'Into The Grave,' Grave will be touring North America this August and September."
In regards to the band's upcoming tour, vocalist/guitarist Ola Lindgren comments:
"We are really psyched to get over to the states and Canada again after 5 years of absence. It's great to be back on the Century Media train again and to celebrate the 20th anniversary of 'Into the Grave' with another visit to North America. During the summer festivals here in Europe, we set out to play the entire first album from start to finish in the order that the songs are on the album. It turned out to be extremely well received from our fans, so we decided to bring the concept on the road for this upcoming tour. Since we are headlining, there will be more material than just the 'Into' album of course. So be there or be square...C y'all!"
