Latest Mantic Ritual News
Below is our complete Mantic Ritual news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
Pittsburgh power metal band Icarus Witch recently parted ways with drummer Steve Johnson and guitarist Ed Skero. They will be replaced by guitarist Dave Watson, formerly of Mantic Ritual and drummer Tom Wierzbicky, formerly of Thunderfist.
The band's announcement reads as follows:
"After three North American tours in one year, Cleopatra Records recording artist Icarus Witch have amicably parted ways with guitarist Ed Skero and drummer Steve Johnson. The band is extremely excited to announce their replacements, Dave Watson and Tom Wierzbicky respectively.
"Those in the metal community will know Dave as the vocalist and guitarist for Nuclear Blast thrashers, Mantic Ritual. Watson is also highly regarded as one of the top producers in the Pittsburgh region and was the man behind the mixing board (and on keyboards) for the latest Icarus Witch single, “Tragedy.” He has been friends with the band for years and is a natural fit to compliment guitarist Quinn Lukas’ melodic metal playing style.
"Twenty-two year old Brooklyn, New York native Tom Wierzbicky has been playing drums non-stop for 8 years and impressed the band at his audition bringing a creative energy, attack and unique precision well beyond his years. Tom has recently drummed for Chicago modern rockers, Hessler and lead his own traditional metal crew, ThunderFist in Lancaster, PA. He is the perfect fit for the energetic new direction the songs have been taking as the Witch puts finishing touches on pre-production for their 5th album to be tracked this fall."
Crown The Lost has announced that lead guitarist/vocalist Joe Bonaddio has left the band to pursue other interests. Guitarist and founding member David E. Gehlke commented: "I'd be remiss if we didn't speak of Joe's impact on the band, especially on a pure musical level, as he was a key driver in practically all of our existing compositions. I have had the good fortune of playing with Joe for nine years and can safely say his talent is one-of-a-kind, and while it's going to be odd to no longer be playing with him, this change is utterly necessary for us to be able to move forward and achieve new plateaus. We remain very good friends with Joe and wish him the best in his pursuits."
Dave Watson of Mantic Ritual will be filling in on all live dates until a permanent lead guitarist is secured. Watson is no stranger to Crown the Lost, having produced/engineered the band's last two albums
Crown The Lost's new album, "Cold Pestilent Hope" (reviewed here) was just recently released and is available on all major digital retailers for the price of $6 USD.
Guitarist Jeff Potts of Mantic Ritual has recorded a guest guitar solo for the upcoming debut album from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania progressive metal act Hyperion. The album, titled "Orchestrating The Myth," is planned for a late 2010 or early 2011 release and features artwork from Eliran Kantor who has previuosly worked with such bands as Gwar, Testament and Sigh.
The album is also set to feature guest appearancea from Megadeth's Glen Drover and Voivod's Dan Mongrain.
The are currently seeking a record to help with the release of "Orchestrating The Myth."
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's Mantic Ritual have announced the departure of Adam Haritan from the band's ranks. The band commented by saying:
"This was a mutual decision and we all agree that it's best for everyone involved. It's been obvious to us for some time that Adam was not as interested in making music as he once was, and we all thought this would be a good time for him to pursue other things while we found another drummer who can be fully dedicated to Mantic Ritual. There are no hard feelings between us, and we're grateful for all the time and effort Adam has put into this band over the last five years. We wish him the best and we're sure he'll be successful in whatever path he chooses. Mantic Ritual will be looking for a new drummer immediately to continue writing, recording, and touring. We'll be back in action as soon as possible!"

RATTLEHEAD will release their new full-length, “TALES FROM THE GUTTER” on July 9th, just in time for the tour’s start. The first single “Just Stay Down!” is already available from streaming on the band’s myspace. Mantic Ritual have issued the following new year update about their upcoming activity:
"Hey ladies and gents! Jeff here, arriving fashionably late to the 'year-ending band blog' party. So, without further delay, let's sum up the last year and what we've been up to lately. 2009 was a very productive and rewarding year for us. Starting in January, we kicked off our first major tour supporting Rotting Christ with our new friends Epicurean. It was a cold and trying journey, but we learned a lot, made a lot of friends, and what didn't kill us certainly made us stronger.
"After a brief break at home, we hit the road with the legendary Destruction and Krisiun in March and April. Our debut album, 'Executioner,' was released on Nuclear Blast records during this tour. Again we found new friends, new challenges, and lots of good times. Another month or two at home, and in June and July we once again headed off into the sunset with Pro-Pain and Sworn Enemy to play 39 shows in 40 days! This would be our last tour with our singer/guitarist Dan Wetmore, who left the band to pursue other goals. As we said before, we wish him the best in his future endeavors. More...
Live video footage has been posted online of Mantic Ritual performing the song "Souls" with new vocalist/guitarist Dave Watson. The video clip can be viewed below. "Souls" is off the band's 2009 debut album "Executioner."
Mantic Ritual guitarist Jeff Potts commented: “‘Souls’ has been a standard in our set list and it's really grown on us since we started touring a lot this year. The song originally debuted 3 years ago in a VFW in Monaca, near Pittsburgh in February of 2006. While it was written before Dave [Watson] joined the band, he did mix the first demo of it [when the band was still called Meltdown]. We have two new songs in our live set. One is called ‘The Faceless God’ and the other is ‘Descent To Dawn.’ We also have a new cover song in our arsenal! Showing that we can write and play better than ever is important. Also, we just feel that it's been far too long since we've had some new material in the set. We've all had some ideas lately and we're excited to get back into writing mode.” More...

3 INCHES OF BLOOD is back with their new album, "Here Waits Thy Doom," and a massive worldwide touring schedule. The group just completed a lengthy, highly successful North American tour alongside In Flames, Between The Buried and Me, and The Faceless. The group immediately followed this up with a few headlining shows, which kick off on Oct. 7th and run through Oct. 29th.
3 INCHES OF BLOOD will take about two weeks off before hitting the road once again assuming the headlining role on a BloodyDisgusting.com sponsored trek with Saviours and Holy Grail in the support slots. This kicks off on November 13th and will be the last U.S. run until the spring of 2010.
In other band news, the group recently shot a video for the album’s vicious lead-off cut, "Battles and Brotherhood," that was produced and directed by the acclaimed Rick Podd, who has worked on such movies as "The Watcher" and "Hellraiser." The clip basically features the band set in the middle of a medieval battle and also showcases their acting abilities. Stay tuned to BloodyDisgusting.com over the next week for an exclusive video teaser to give you a little taste as to what’s to come with the full-length clip.
Cam Pipes (vocals) states: “We're off to a pretty good start in support of Here Waits Thy Doom. Our hometown show in Vancouver sold out beyond capacity and was amazing in every way. We had very supportive crowds at the few Western Canada shows we did afterwards. Currently, we are nearing the end of the U.S. tour with In Flames, Between the Buried and Me and The Faceless and as we had hoped, it has been a great tour. We usually get along with all the bands we tour with and this is no different. The shows have been hugely attended and fans have been quite enthusiastic to say the least.
“We have a week of headlining shows on the east coast with Children and Mantic Ritual before we go to Canada and tour our way back home across our home country. Saviours will be meeting up with us in southern Ontario to do the last week of Canadian dates. After a bit of time off we embark on the BloodyDisgusting.com (our favorite website) sponsored headlining North American tour. Again, Saviours will be joining us as well as Holy Grail. It's a busy fall season for us, but we wouldn't have it any other way.”

Pittsburgh old school metal band MANTIC RITUAL just announced the departure of founding member/singer/guitarist Dan Wetmore. All scheduled shows will take place as planned.
The band issued the following statement, "After much consideration, Dan has decided to no longer continue with MANTIC RITUAL. We are greatly appreciative of his tremendous contributions to the band and wish him the best in his future endeavors. For the upcoming tours this fall, our good friend, Dave Watson, will be filling in as singer/guitarist. We've known Dave for quite some time, and besides being a killer musician, he's an outstanding sound engineer as well (he mixed our 2007 self-released demo, 'Executioner'). We have no doubt that Dave will be a perfect fit for us these next few months, and that the band will continue delivering fist-pumping rock 'n roll like it's 1955." More...

Jeff Potts, guitarist for the Pittsburgh metal band MANTIC RITUAL has sent in the following tour update:
“For those of you who don't hablo español – ‘No Jeff, it's 'habla'’ - ... Thanks Adam. For those of you who don't habla español, the title of this blog roughly translates to ‘Pro-Pain/Sworn Enemy Tour update number one.’
“With that out of the way, let us bring you up to speed. We spent the last ten days in the southeastern part of the U.S. and we just finished the show in Baltimore. We've had a lot of fun so far and made plenty of new friends and fans. Being back in the van, rather than on the bus like on the last tour, gives us plenty of opportunities to get to know the fine folks who come out to our shows and offer us a place to stay for the night (*hint, hint* to the people coming out to the rest of the shows on this tour). Possibly the most interesting place we've stayed so far was on a military base in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Let's hear it for 3-year-olds that rock out and air-guitar to an entire Iron Maiden DVD - good times.
“Just letting everyone know: Much like the tickets at Waynestock, there are still plenty of dates left on this tour. We hope to see you at the shows and party at your house. Remember, in the words of Jim Morrison – ‘If you book us, we will come.’
“Until then, ‘Party on, Adam!’
“‘Party on, Jeff!’”
On Tuesday April 7th, 2009 I went to BBKings in New York City to see Destruction perform, with Krisiun and Mantic Ritual as support, at their last show on tour. As I walked into the venue, I found that it was practically empty. The emptiness of the venue was a bit disappointing for such a popular 80s thrash metal band. I also noticed the awesome equipment on stage: Ampeg bass amp stacks and Engl guitar amp half stacks. Both have to be my favorite brands for bass and guitar amps respectively. Another thing I saw was that there was only one set of gear on stage. It is rare that I see a band nice enough to lend their gear out to the openers. Short changeovers between bands are always a good thing. More...
German thrash metal legends Destruction are currently touring North America along with Krisiun and Mantic Ritual. The band has unfortunately had to announce however, that their show in Calgary, Alberta, Canada will not go ahead as planned. A message from the band reads as follows:
"The Calgary show is cancelled due the lack of equipment. First of all the show got moved from the Warehouse to the Underground! No agreement with the band, no PA, no lights! The band is disappointed and really sorry about that situation, as everybody tried to find a solution to make the show happen. Sorry folks but without equipment a metal concert is not possible."
American thrash metal band Mantic Ritual have posted a new video interview with live show clips online from their current tour with Destruction and Krisiun. The video can be viewed below. The band also issued the following tour update:
"Hey everyone. Jeff and Adam here, updating you guys from Cleveland. It's been almost a week since we left Pittsburgh to start the tour with Destruction and Krisiun. Since the first date in New York, it's been a blast to be on the road with these legendary bands.
"We're sharing a bus with the other bands, so between having a driver and the warmer weather, this tour has been much easier on us than January's expedition with Rotting Christ. Not to mention the bands, crew, and fans have been treating us very well. No matter what people might tell you, Schmier is a really nice guy, and has gone out of his way to help us out multiple times already - he even gave us extra time in our set to throw in a cover song or perhaps an acapella number!
"Our debut album came out yesterday (March 10th), and it was great to have our release show in Toronto, one of our favorite cities to play in. It was a big day for us, releasing our debut album and all, and the crazed fans made it even better! We'll be selling "Executioner" at all the shows, and it'll be cheaper than you can find it in stores - so why not get a copy freshly picked from the box by one of us?
"We still have about 4 weeks to go, so we hope you can make it out to the shows, say hi, and rock out with us! Also, here's a pretty cool video interview with some live footage from the Montreal show!" More...
German thrash metal legends Destruction will be teaming up with Krisiun and Mantic Ritual for a tour of North America which kicks off tomorrow and Destruction has announced a special contest for the fans to meet the band.
"If you wanna meet Schmier (vocals, bass), Mike (Sifringer; guitar) and Marc (Reign; drums) backstage, then just send us a mail with your name, the show you wanna attend and the reason why exactly you should win."
