HDK guitarist Sander Gommans (After Forever/Trllium/Kiske-Sommerville/Ex-MaYaN) posted an update on the forthcoming sophomore effort from Dutch band HDK. The album is the follow up to the 2009 release "System Overload."
The update reads as follows:
"As promised a little update about the follow up of HDK: System Overload. Nearly all the keyboard parts are finished, they just have to be fine tuned a bit for the actual album. It's very cool to work with two keyboard players this time (Uri Dijk and Erik van Ittersum) since they both give a unique input to the songs.
"Koen Herfst is working out the drum parts at the moment, they will kick some serious ass! Tomorrow I´ll visit Geert Kroes to check new vocal parts, they will be recorded under the supervision of Amanda Somerville (Trillium, AVANTASIA) as soon as we can find some time in our schedule. As I mentioned before, I´m a busy man, but there´s been a lot of progress!
"System Overload was full of agression and experiments, this album will be a return to the After Forever sound with more heavy elements-more guitar oriented. The songwriting I did for After Forever, HDK, Trillium and various other projects have led to this record, and I really excited about the input of the awesome musicians I´m working with this time.
"I´ll be posting some previews the upcoming months and I´ll keep you updated.
"Thanks for supporting me even though I´ve been out of the picture when it comes to playing live....really appreciate that! Thanks to you, musicians like me who prefere writing and teaching music, can still release an album once in a while."
Sanders Gommans of After Forever has given further news on his new project which, up 'til this point, we've had nothing to judge it on since no material was present at the time. Now, a video made by D'Images (famous for working with After Forever, Stream of Passion, Ayreon, and Nemesea) has been released with audio samples of HDK's forthcoming debut, "System Overload." You can view the video below.
In addition, Amanda Somerville, who has worked with Ayreon, Epica, and Kamelot, has been participating in the project.
System Overload will be released on February 23rd.
Sanders Gommans of After Forever has come out with news about his new project Hate Death Kill in a new interview with Sheila Doki. Sanders claims that the musical style of HDK can be described as thrash, progressive, or even death metal. He says that the musical style for this music wasn't suited to After Forever's formula that makes After Forever what it is, so that's why he made this separate project. It's not symphonic at all, according to him. Interestingly enough, before Sanders came into an accident that had to put After Forever into a halt, he wrote material for the HDK album System Overload, which is set to be released on February 23rd. Below, you can view the interview in two parts.
Season of Mist has announced the signing of the new Dutch project HDK, whose main man is no other than AFTER FOREVER co-founder, main songwriter, guitarist, and grunter Sander Gommans.
Here's a statement from Gommans:
"I've been working very hard on my project HDK for several years, so it was very important for me to find a label that is specialised in the more extreme side of metal, but also experienced in the style of AFTER FOREVER. I already worked together with Season of Mist when they released the first AFTER FOREVER albums in France, so I know they will do a good job for HDK as well. My project is a mix of all kinds of metal styles, the label has to be able to give it its full attention in order to promote this the right way, and I feel confident Season of Mist is able to do that perfectly!"
HDK's first album is slated for an early 2009 release.
