Darkane Reveals New Album Details

Swedish melodic death metal sensation Darkane is excited to reveal the details on upcoming album, “The Sinister Supremacy.”

The album will not only mark the first new music from the band in over five years, but will also include the return of vocalist Lawrence Mackrory, who was last heard on the band’s 1999 debut “Rusted Angel.”

The new album's track listing is:

1. Sounds of Pre-Exsistence
2. The Sinister Supremacy
3. Mechanically Divine
4. Ostracized
5. The Decline
6. Insurrection is Imminent
7. In the Absence of Pain
8. Humanity Defined
9. Hate Repentance State
10. Collapse of Illusions
11. By Darkness Designed
12. Existence is Just a State of Mind

Darkane also comments: “The Sinister Supremacy is a metaphor for the evil that controls us. It’s the dark part of our minds and it’s inside us all. It tells us it’s ok to do bad things, to hurt other people, and hurt ourselves. It guides us into making choices based on pure selfishness, and it thrives on complete chaos. The cover art by Carlos Holmberg is a Rorschach test as seen by an individual who has completely succumbed to the sinister supremacy.”

“The Sinister Supremacy” is scheduled for release on July 2nd through Prosthetic Records and is also now available for pre-order on the Prosthetic webstore. More...

Darkane Recruits Former Vocalist

Darkane has checked in with the following update about splitting with Jens Broman and recruiting former vocalist Lawrence Mackrory:

"Darkane vocalist Jens Broman has decided to leave Darkane. He is replaced by Lawrence Mackrory who sang on our debut album Rusted Angel (1999) and did a guest appearance on Chaos vs. Order from Expanding Senses (2002). Darkane would like to wish Jens the best of luck in the future.

"Lawrence will make his new debut with Darkane in Strasbourg, France September 20th when our European headlining tour will start, together with Destinity and Devastating Enemy. We are all very excited about the future, and are also working hard on the new album. We recently finished building the studio that we've been working on over the last 18 months, and we are very satisfied."

Jens commented on the split: "Dear Darkane fans, I will leave Darkane. This has to do with personal issues. At the moment my life is in a phase where I'm unable to find inspiration for new adventures with Darkane and therefore it's best for me to pass on the mic. I will miss you all, the tours, all you dedicated fans and most of all my band mates. But know that Darkane have found a superb replacement in Lawrence Mackrory. Good luck and stay metal!"

The following statement was also made by Lawrence:

"13 years! It is with great pleasure I can finally announce my return to Darkane. I have been waiting for this opportunity to appear and finally the time was right for me to continue what we started 13 years ago. Both Andreas and Jens have done a tremendous job with the band, which will keep me on my toes while performing live for sure. More...

Darkane to Release Live DVD in July

Darkane has announced the following update on the upcoming live DVD:

"Yes, finally our DVD 'Layers of live' will be released through Listenable Records. The main concert of this DVD was filmed/recorded in May 2006 in our hometown of Helsingborg. It sure took some time to put this DVD together since we did it ourselves together with our friend and video editor Per Christoffersson, but due to record label 'issues' been delayed two more years. We're very happy that our friends at Listenable Records now made it possible to release it!"

The main live show was shot May 4th, 2006, in a club called The Tivoli in Helsingborg. The bonus live tracks were shot during smaller shows in Sweden and bigger summer festivals in 2002 - 2003. The release of this DVD also celebrates the first 10 years in the history of Darkane.

The band is also currently writing new material for the next album.

Here's the trailer for the DVD:

Darkane Recaps Soilwork Tour

Darkane has issued the following update:

"We're back in Sweden from what we believe was a very successful tour in North America together with Soilwork, Warbringer and Swallow the Sun. Thanks a lot to the other bands, crew and all the fans that showed up and made us feel welcome. Playing 50 shows in 52 days was kinda tough but we're very happy we managed to pull it through without any bigger issues. Now we are focusing on writing new material for the next album but before that we have a show at The Tivoli in our home town Helsingborg tomorrow (Saturday April 4th), and then we have the Roskilde festival and Nuclear Assault festival booked for this summer, and hopefully more will show up. Next week Peter Wildoer will head out on a European tour with Pestilence for three weeks."

"I am also very proud to announce that I am now officially endorsed by Steve Clayton guitar picks. I have been using Clayton pics (1.26 mm) since the middle of the nineties. Since Darkanes music is based on accurate playing I need a pick that feels steady and that I can count on when I hit my strings very hard. With the Clayton picks I get a very good and reliable grip allowing me to alter between fast and rhythmic playing without having to think about what my right hand is doing. See you out there!"

Darkane Guitarist Gives Tour Update

Darkane guitarist Christofer Malmström has issued the following update from the road:

"Metalheads! Here’s Christofer with an update from the road! We are cruising towards San Francisco as I write this. Such beautiful sights outside the bus windows!!! The tour is still going very well for DARKANE, although we’ve had some serious problems with illness and everybody except for [vocalist] Jens [Broman] is in a pretty bad shape right now. After [2nd guitarist] Klas [Ideberg] left us in Mokena we were joined by great guitar shredder Toby Knapp, but unfortunately he also got ill and had to leave the tour after nine shows. Thanks Toby, you did a great job!!! We have now decided to do this tour as a four piece unit, and it’s working out pretty well I must say.

"We did 9 shows in snowy Canada, and the audience has been great all the way. We have played pretty weird places such as a campus and a roller skating rink, but wherever we’ve been, we’ve felt very welcome! Now we are looking forward to do the West Coast and get some warm air in our sore throats.

"That’s it for now! Take care and if we haven’t met yet, go check the shows out! We have about three weeks left on this tour!"

Darkane Comments On "Demonic Art" Success

Swedish band Darkane has issued the following statement about the success of their latest album "Demonic Art:"

"DARKANE’s fifth studio album, Demonic Art, has sold over 640 copies according to Nielsen Soundscan in the first week of release and landed at #104 on the Billboard Heatseekers (Top New Artist) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200. With over 240 digital sales of Demonic Art, the total number of albums sold during the first week of release registers over 880 copies.

“We are very happy to have landed on the Billboard charts for the first time in our career! Thanks to everybody who has bought the album so far. This feels great and hopefully the huge North American tour that we are doing right now will make more people know about us. The tour has been very successful so far and we still have about 5 weeks left. If you haven’t bought the album yet, please go get it. DARKANE is here to stay!”

Guitarist Toby Knapp Comments On Darkane Tour

Toby Knapp has issued the following statement regarding joining Darkane for an upcoming tour:

"Today I am finishing up the final song I am to learn before I join Sweden's Darkane midway through their US/CANADIAN tour in support of Soilwork Feb 22. It is a nervous excitement as the first time I perform with them will be on a stage before an audience. The music is intricate, fast and disciplined- I usually am the only guitarist in a group situation, which allows the freedom to improvise on riffs every show, as with Onward. However, this is a great challenge and just what I need, discipline. I hope to return from the tour a better musician. Cases of beer will be replaced with a bag of books this time around. I am understanding something that I can no longer deny, every action has an equal and opposite reaction, the Universe does not forget. Prior to the Darkane opportunity I was preparing myself to join Mayhem, at least for a few shows. I practiced hard, for hours on the highly technical music. However, logistics prevented that from coming to pass. Within a week from receiving the news from Mayhem they had voted on using a Norwegian guitarist, I was already practicing for the Darkane opportunity- which did come to pass along with the European re-issue of my last solo album "Misanthropy Divine" and the invitation to contribute to the Shredguy Records compilation "Shredding across the World vol. 2". Going back further in time, I was approached by Vital Remains. I learned the material they requested and had it to them immediately. Their response "you make it look easy, but we'll keep in touch bro"........Dave Suzuki was in the band again, I have no idea what that was all about. Again, opportunity knocked from Vital Remains co-founder, vocalist Jeff Gruslin of Godless Rising. I figured I had been recommended to him, nope. Coincidence. I joined as guitarist/writer and we have had a good working relationship and the result "Trumpet Of Triumph" will arrive in 2009 on Moribund Records. More...

Darkane Issues Pre-tour Update

Guitarist Christofer Malmström of the Swedish metal band DARKANE has issued the following update:

"I realized that it's only 3.5 weeks left until we leave for our massive U.S. tour with SOILWORK, DAYLIGHT DIES, WARBRINGER and SWALLOW THE SUN. This tour will be interesting. We will play two shows, then have a day off, and then play like 35 days in a row without a break. I hope everyone will stay healthy because this will be rough. Then we have a day off again. All in all, we are going to play 50 shows in 52 days. 41 shows in the U.S. and nine in Canada. But the bottom line is that we are all looking forward to this VERY much!" More...

Old Man's Child To Release New Album In 2009

Old Man's Child has issued the following update about the recording of their new album:

Norwegian melodic Black Metal masters OLD MAN'S CHILD are back at last...and with a vengeance!

The band led by guitarist /vocalistGalder (also in Dimmu Borgir) just returned to their Norwegian home from a trip to Gothenburg / Sweden, where the band spent some weeks laying down the new unholy compositions at Studio Fredman with Fredrik Nordström (Dimmu Borgir, Arch Enemy, In Flames, etc.), who had previously worked with the band on their "In Defiance Of Existence" (2003) and "Vermin"(2005) albums.

The new OMC studio album's title has not yet been revealed, but the release will feature Peter Wildoer (Darkane, ex-Arch Enemy, Pestilence, etc.) on drums and having freshly finished his takes for the total of 9classy new songs, here is Peter's comment on the material and the recording session:

"After having being asked to be part of the new OMC album, I obviously went back and listened to the previous releases of the band, so I now am able to say that in my opinion, these new 9 songs are the best material I have heard of the band so far. There is a lot of more variety going on and the album will sound bigger than any other OMC record before. More...
