Latest Goatwhore News
Below is our complete Goatwhore news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
Note: We began associating news directly with bands in late 2003. Therefore, earlier band news may not be listed on this page.
Come And Take It Productions started Texas Independence Fest in Austin as a way to bring together friends and family in a celebration of Texas. Previous years featured performances by Down, David Allan Coe, Upon a Burning Body, Dixie Witch and many more. This year's festival saw a mix of local and touring acts. Wayne Static of Static-X and We Are The Riot (members of Coal Chamber) brought familiarity to the day's acts, while The Metal Alliance Tour featuring Behemoth, 1349, Inquisition, Goatwhore and Black Crown Initiate painted the afternoon sky black.
The doors to Emo's opened at noon and I arrived around a quarter to 2 in time to catch Denton, Texas melodic death/black outfit Tarim. According to a Come And Take It personnel, Tarim won Come And Take It's battle of the bands, which landed them on this spot. Ten hours is a lot of music to take in. This was my time to coordinate interviews times, but the band, playing material from "The Philosopher King," caught my ears and kept them. They definitely deserved to be on Emo's big stage, and would have proved a tighter fit to the evening's black out.
I missed Casket of Cassandra but caught the following band, Headcrusher. Former residents of Colombia , these deathly thrashers have become a staple in Austin's metal scene. The five-piece band often plays Come And Take It Production shows commonly held at the Dirty Dog Bar. Although this was the first time I caught their act on Emo's stage, it wasn't the band's largest crowd. Festival crowds brought in several times more people than the couple hundred watching the band's mid-day performance. It doesn't matter how many people watch this group; Headcrusher played hard and aggressive. Fans of Gothenburg-style metal such as Dimension Zero, Dark Tranquility and Carnal Forge take note of Headcrusher. More...
Goatwhore's new album, "Constricting Rage of the Merciless," is scheduled for release in North America on July 8th.
Fans that see Goatwhore live on the road as part of the Metal Alliance Tour will have the opportunity to reserve a copy of the CD at the band's merch booth. Those pre-orders will include a special limited edition/exclusive album laminate and and exclusive t-shirt. The laminates will include unique pre-order codes to enter o-line to have the album shipped right to the buyer's door upon release.
"Constricting Rage of the Merciless" was recorded with producer Erik Rutan at Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, FL. This is Goatwhore's fourth studio outing with Rutan at the helm, and to achieve an even more dark and powerful tone on this album, all drums, bass, and rhythm guitars were tracked to 2-inch tape. New music from the album will be made available in the coming weeks.
Erik Rutan commented on the recording sessions: "Working with Goatwhore again for our 4th album together was amazing! It is through our experience and established trust and bond in the studio that allowed us to push each other to the limits, only to achieve the best performances and tones we could. This album came out so dynamic and huge, partly due to the fact that we recorded drums, bass, and main rhythm guitars to analog tape. Goatwhore has a massive sound and we all felt recording to analog would be the best way to capture it, giving it a very unique quality and feel, built off of integrity and vibe. This is our finest moment working together and the guys did an incredible job creating and performing all the songs on this record. Goatwhore fans be prepared!"
The track listing is as follows:
1. Poisonous Existence In Reawakening
2. Unraveling Paradise
3. Baring Teeth For Revolt
4. Reanimated Sacrifice
5. Heaven's Crumbling Walls Of Pity
6. Cold Earth Consumed In Dying Flesh
8. Nocturnal Conjuration Of The Accursed
10. Externalize This Hidden Savagery More...

The latest round of additions to the continually-expanding lineup for 2014's installment of the New England Metal & Hardcore Festival has been disclosed, including Massachusetts' own '90s hardcore punk act, Sam Black Church.
Confirmed as one of the main headliners of the event's third night, Saturday, April 19th, Sam Black Church's set at NEMHF 2014 will mark only the third performance since the group initially disbanded at the turn of the century, and first in Central Massachusetts since the late '90s.

Over the years sharing bills with bands as diverse as Bad Brains, Clutch, Motörhead, Cro-Mags, Fear, and Helmet, they were one of the most popular hardcore bands in the Northeast United States during the 1990s. After releasing three full-lengths on Taang! Records, they left to join Wonderdrug where they remained until they retired in 2000 after releasing a total of seven albums. Since disbanding, Sam Black Church reunited for a sold-out show on September 22, 2007, at The Roxy in Boston, and played a another sold-out performance at Hometown Throwdown #16 with The Mighty Mighty Bosstones at House of Blues in Boston on December 29th, 2013. Housecore Horror Film and Heavy metal festival masterminds, Corey Mitchell and Philip H. Anselmo brought Austin, Texas a rare entertainment opportunity, packaged in human flesh, marred by celluloid cigarette burns--a four-day, multi-stage, multi-tent, multi-everything horror-movie festival. Industry people arrived from all around the world to help support this lofty endeavor.
The gorier the better as many of the major stars of the film portion of the festival had participated in legendary blood spillers such as the "Nekromantik" film series (Director Jörg Buttgereit ), "Coffin Joe" (Director José Mojica Marins ) and "Friday the 13th." Ari Lehman made film history when Jason Voorhees finally sprung to life after the murder of his mother. Lehman attended the festival not only as a film celebrity, but as a musician. Nefarious of Macabre joined Lehman on stage in his First Jason band to perform campy horror metal songs about that guy in the hockey mask. More...

All was quiet in the Quarter, save the sidewalk in front of the renowned One Eyed Jacks. The entire heavy scene of New Orleans is in attendance tonight; the beer flows like water as we all file into the main room where opening band Lo-Pan is about to take the stage.
Lo-Pan’s last NOLA performance at Siberia in 2011 garnered a small crowd, playing with local doom groove outfit Endall and Ryan McKern,tThe band now has a packed house to play its unique post-rock hybrid sound. The opening notes are low and dominating, somewhere between Clutch and older Corrosion of Conformity. Jeff Martin’s vocals kick in and it immediately shifts to a softer Soundgarden vibe. The band is passionate about the music, and this is evident in the live show: well-rehearsed structures and tight playing abilities win over the crowd. More...
