Latest Goatwhore News
Below is our complete Goatwhore news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
Note: We began associating news directly with bands in late 2003. Therefore, earlier band news may not be listed on this page.
Goatwhore tentatively plan to enter the studio in March 2005 to begin recording their Metal Blade Records debut. The as-of-yet untitled record should hit stores in August/September 2005.
Birmingham's fathers of grindcore, Napalm Death, kickoff their 36-date North American tour tonight with their headlining show in Toronto, Canada. The first eight dates the band performs with Misery Index, and the remaining dates take the band across the U.S. with Cannibal Corpse, Kataklysm, and Goatwhore.
Always outspoken about politics, Napalm Death vocalist Barney Greenway had this to say about the elections:
If Bush gets voted in for another term, people really need to take a long, hard look at themselves. With Bush back in power, there'll be more unjustified military intervention, more shitty healthcare provisions for the poor, a country mired further in religious dogma etc. Not to mention seeing more of Jeb Bush's fat head on TV. On the other hand, the Democrats don't offer a real alternative. They're very close to the Republicans on a few issues, which is disappointing. I noted how some of the anti-war advocates in the Democratic Party were silenced quite early on. The crazy thing is that voting for the Green Party guy Ralph Nader is considered a pointless exercise, where as he is one of the only people to offer radical thinking. Based purely on his thoughts, I would probably go for Nader if I was an American.
That said, I think the whole system needs an overhaul. That whole 'vote-rig' thing by the Republicans in Florida last time was such a farce, people outside of the U.S. just could not believe that Americans would let something like that pass. I find it really amusing that the Republicans cast themselves as pillars of honesty when everything they do is steeped in corruption and self-interest. Similarly, I lived through Thatcher's ruthless conservatism in Britain, and I would not want to go through it again.
Napalm Death released their Century Media debut, "Leaders Not Followers: Part 2" on October 5.

Deicide have cancelled their previously announced show on October 4 at 4th & B in San Diego, California. No reason was given for the cancellation. Goatwhore, Cattle Decapitation, Jungle Rot and Gutrot will be doing a make-up show without Deicide on the same night at Brick By Brick in San Diego for only $7. A flyer for the concert can be viewed at this location.
Vader have been forced to cancel the upcoming North American tour with Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death, Goatwhore, and Kataklysm due to an injury suffered by vocalist/guitarist, Peter Wiwczarek, while on tour. The band's manager Mariusz Kmioek has released this official statement:
We are sorry to inform everyone that during Scandinavian tour (October 2004) Peter has suffered from a minor spinal injury (vertebra-related) and will have to undergo a procedure to set things right (1 week at hospital and 2 weeks of rehabilitation). The only possible date to enter the hospital and fix it is in October, so we have decided on not going on our US tour! Our first idea was to schedule the procedure at hospital next year, but it would be big risk for Peter's health.
We'd like to apologize all people - Metal Blade USA, First Row Agency, Cannibal Corpse and their booking agency, Napalm Death and all maniacs - we are very sorry and we'd like to thank everyone for all their hard work in booking and arranging this tour! It's the first cancelled tour in our long (18 years) activity, and it's really a shock for us!
Let's keep our fingers crossed everything will turn out OK.

Jungle Rot's latest CD, "Fueled by Hate," was released this summer through Olympic/Century Media Records. The follow-up to 2001's "Dead and Buried" reportedly sees the band "staying with the formula of memorable songs and catchy groves while still having the heaviness to live up to [and] exceed the current requirements for extreme music."
Keith Spera wrote a short piece on Nola.com summarizing recent activity in the New Orleans metal scene:
A flurry of recent activity has reiterated New Orleans' reputation as a hotbed of underground hard rock. Goatwhore, the fearsome black metal quartet featuring singer Ben Falgoust, guitarist Sammy Duet, bassist Patrick Bruders and new drummer Zack Simmons, recently inked a deal with Metal Blade Records, the Los Angeles label that has issued extreme music for more than 20 years, including the first albums by Metallica and Slayer. The long-running Suplecs is nearly finished recording an album with producers Pepper Keenan, best known for his long tenure with Corrosion of Conformity, and Dave Fortman, the north shore producer behind the multimillion-selling Evanescence debut. Suplecs intends to shop the new record to various labels. And the popular Discovery Channel show "Monster Garage" has used local act 4 Mag Nitrous' "Cypress, Stumps & Flies" in seven episodes; the band is also featured on the recent "Monster Garage" soundtrack CD.
"New Orleans has a good reputation (in national heavy music circles)," said Greg Eveline, the local entertainment lawyer who represents several heavy acts. "This may be the next thing, even though people don't really think about it in New Orleans."

Metal Blade is proud to announce they have officially signed the New Orleans-based black metal band Goatwhore.
Goatwhore is known all over the underground scene for pushing the boundaries of black metal taking it to a more extreme level without all the theatrics the genre has become famous for. They focus on the raw brutality of the music itself creating a horrific soundscape that will bring you to your knees. Be prepared for plenty of touring and then a new album on Metal Blade Records in mid 2005.
Metal Blade CEO Brian Slagel expounds on the signing, "We are very excited to welcome Goatwhore to the Metal Blade Family. They are already a great band, with a great career and we plan on taking them to the next level."
Vocalist Ben Falgoust was also excited. "It is an honor to be signed to Metal Blade Records. They have been around quite sometime now and have always been pioneers at releasing new extreme metal/hardcore at a well-noted level. If you go back to the earlier years, they were the label that kick-started Slayer into what they are now, not too mention numerous other metal acts. Metal Blade Records have also ventured off into other terrains with earlier releases such as DRI, Cryptic Slaughter, Beyond Possession, and Corrosion of Conformity. These standards opened up a wide array of styles within metal and hardcore to be accepted by a wider audience in the extreme music scene. Creating a crossover effect among punk, metal, hardcore, and thrash metal. Now we see bands such as As I Lay Dying, Unearth, and The Red Chord sharing label standards with Vader, The Black Dahlia Murder, Cattle Decapitation, Cannibal Corpse, and now Goatwhore. This idea still in tact: still keeping the trend of having an extreme label covering a wide spectrum of choices within the extreme music scene. Not an easy task for a style of music that always has its ups and downs and mood shifts like a pregnant woman with ice cream. Metal Blade has brought us some of the best releases of Death Metal, Hardcore, Thrash Metal, and Metalcore. As time progresses the styles will change and grow and Metal Blade will make sure they are a part of the change and will continue to bring us lethal extreme music. This is why all of us in Goatwhore are very pleased to be doing our next release with Metal Blade Records. Look out for the new Goatwhore release in 2005. Until then, come out to a show or two and show some support."

Oakland-based purveyors of aggression Watch Them Die will be shooting a video for their song "Sadist Ways" in the Los Angeles area on August 21.

The trek kicks off on July 25 and wraps up on August 19. The group have just returned home after completing a highly successful run with Gwar, which also included a limited number of dates with Darkest Hour.

US black metallers GOATWHORE have posted the following message on their official website:
"A small update for all that actually check up on the news. Our drummer Zak Nolan has left the band. Nothing really crazy about his departure just some internal differences with touring and decisions as to what we all wanted out of the band. He is an excellent drummer and we wish the very best for him in his future endeavors. We are currently getting help from a close friend, Justin Perez (SKINKRAWL [www.skinkrawl.com] and DEMISE), to fill in for the time being. He will be helping us out in Japan from February 2 - 6 with the Extreme The Dojo Volume 9 dates with DARK FUNERAL and ZYKLON After we return home from Japan we will be looking for a solid permanent replacement. If you or someone you know wishes to audition please contact us at BenFalgoust@aol.com. We will then arrange a time for you to come here for auditions. Serious inquiries only. Don't waste our time or yours! Must be able to play everything as played on the albums and handle an extensive touring schedule.
