New Orleans' Goatwhore will return to the road later this month as part of Metal Blade Records' 35th anniversary tour alongside label mates Whitechapel, Cattle Decapitation, Allegaeon, and Necromancing The Stone.
The band's latest trek will stretch from February 21st through March 15th, with various headlining dates scattered throughout.
From there, the band will take a short break before joining Amon Amarth for two weeks' worth of shows from May 1st to May 21st. Due to scheduling conflicts between the two tours, Goatwhore will not appear on six of the Metal Blade Records' 35th anniversary tour stops. See a full listing of dates below.
Goatwhore also recently completed tracking the follow-up to "Constricting Rage Of The Merciless." Titled "Vengeful Ascension," the band's latest studio offering was captured at
Earth Analog near Champaign, Illinois. More...
After touring the world this past year in support of latest album "Jomsviking" (which was included in our look at the best cover art of 2016), Amon Amarth will head back out on the road this spring for a USA tour with Goatwhore.
Starting April 30th, the trek also features select appearances by Amon Amarth at some of the nation's premier music festivals: Welcome to Rockville, Carolina Rebellion, Dark Lord Day, Northern Invasion, and Rock on the Range.
Amon Amarth comments: "United States! We return to your lands this Spring and we will raid and plunder your little cities as we please. For the first time we will be sailing our longships towards the curious native celebrations called 'The Loudest Month' (Welcome To Rockville, Northern Invasion, Carolina Rebellion & Rock On The Range) where we will sack and burn them to the ground and feast on the spoils. Our good friends in the almighty Goatwhore will be joining us on this voyage on all headline shows. You have been warned."
Goatwhore's Ben Falgoust (vocals) adds: "We are looking forward to hitting the road with Amon Amarth and playing some raw as fuck metal for you people. Show up with your anger and let's make some chaos happen. I know you all need to vent some issues. Let's do it together and crush the opposition. I also hope by the end of this tour I can try to be as cool as Joe Grindo from Theories." More...
EyeHateGod frontman Mike IX Williams successfully underwent a liver transplant last month and is currently on the slow road to recovery. To help with his mounting medical expenses, several benefit shows are being organized, the first of which will run from February 3rd through the 5th in Williams' hometown of New Orleans.
The three-day, festival-styled event will take place at Siberia and Poor Boys venues and includes appearances by Eyehategod, Crowbar, Goatwhore, Thou, Classhole, Mountain Of Wizard, and many more acts bound together for the cause.
Though weekend passes are no longer available, the shows are not sold out. Remaining tickets will be available at the door for each show. Orange amplification has donated a Micro Dark amp with O headphones that will be raffled off along with EyeHateGod test presses and other Mike IX memorabilia. Raffle tickets will be sold Friday and Saturday night with winners announced Saturday night before EyeHateGod's set. Don't miss the crawfish boil on Sunday, courtesy of Billy Bones Seafood Catering. The New Orleans road warriors from Goatwhore will return to the U.S. tour circuit this fall on a short run of live abrasions prior to and following an Ozzfest appearance in San Bernardino, California on September 24th.

Comments Goatwhore frontman Ben Falgoust: "We have been associated with Ozzfest in the past and are grateful to be playing it this year, but being part of Black Sabbath's final West Coast show is another legendary experience to be affiliated with and be able to witness first hand, taking in every element of a band that has been a great influence on all levels in the metal world. Also, Ozzfest has given opportunities to countless freshly-emerging metal acts to forge new paths and give people new levels of extreme music to connect with and hear... that doesn't exclude this year.
"Tons of acts that have been pretty damn strong in the underground metal community will be making their first appearances at Ozzfest Meets Knotfest, as well as repeat acts that have been a part of it in the past. So, when you come to see Black Sabbath out West for their last time, come early and be a part of the future of metal, as well as it's legendary past."
Adds drummer Zack Simmons, "We are very honored to be a part of Black Sabbath's last ever California performance and Ozzfest's 20th Anniversary. It'll be a ripping day of heavy metal and a bittersweet farewell to the godfathers of the genre." More...

New album "Abysmal" is a vicious slab of unrelenting aggression showcasing TBDM at its very finest with a meticulous, pin-point precise rhythmic assault mixed with ferocious speed and dynamic hooks.
The band re-enlisted the services of renowned producer Mark Lewis (Cannibal Corpse, Whitechapel) and former bass player Ryan Williams, who also produced "Everblack," with the sole intent to get away from the overt sonic sterility affecting far too many contemporary metal albums. More...

Two weeks back we asked a simple question: why isn't there more heavy metal in the video game world?
Our Facebook page blew up with gamers offering up their favorite titles with metallic soundtracks, and we took a closer look at several worth your time. In that post still available here if you didn't read it, we looked at the king of heavy metal video games – Brutal Legend – as well as Saint's Row The Third, Killing Floor 2, Painkiller, and Guilty Gear X2 Reload.
After that post went online, Zynthetic – responsible for much of the music in Killing Floor and Killing Floor 2 – wrote up an article attempting to answer the question of why more metal doesn't show up in video games since they seem like a perfect and obvious match.
For his take on the lack of metal in gaming, including the difficulties in licensing existing music and the lack of metallic knowledge among composers, read the full article right here.
Since we love gaming and we love metal, it seemed like a good idea to keep checking in every so often with new entries that combine the two, and this week we'll cover four more solid games filled to the brim with extreme metal. Don't see your favorite game listed? Don't worry, we'll cover more in the future, but be sure to still give us your picks in the comments below.
Five years ago a reboot of the '88 arcade game Splatterhouse hit consoles, and it was very much notable for the inclusion of an all-metal soundtrack featuring the likes of Lamb of God, Mastodon, Municipal Waste, Cavalera Conspiracy, and Goatwhore.
As the name would suggest, it's filled with buckets of blood and guts, and the action-oriented beat 'em up style is somewhat similar to Dante's Inferno/God Of war/etc. The frantic combat will see your character Rick frequently losing limbs and more, but that's not a problem because they grow back – and hey, you can pick up the severed appendages of your foes to continue beating them down!
This one's filled to the brim with all sorts of horror goodies (and ridiculousness) like time travel, cosmic horror deities, and plenty of nods to Lovecraft with names like “Dr. West” and places called “Arkham.” Someone helpfully put all the songs from the soundtrack together into one playlist at YouTube here, and you can check out a game trailer below:
Before heading out on tour in September with Revocation and Cannabis Corpse, Black Fast now announces a preceding crop of tour dates with Goatwhore in August.
"Goatwhore is one of my favorite bands," says Black Fast front man Aaron Akin. "I've seen them live more times than I can remember. They are unrelenting road dogs, absolutely killer live and they just command respect. We're insanely excited and I want to thank those guys for having us on the road with them! I'm gonna go throw up now."
All of the band's current tour dates are in support of new LP "Terms of Surrender" due out August 7th, 2015 via eOne Music. See the band live: More...
