ILL NINO have reportedly dropped off the remaining dates on the SOULFLY U.S. tour following an altercation between current SOULFLY guitarist Marc Rizzo (ex-ILL NINO) and ILL NINO frontman Cristian Machado after the two bands' joint appearance in Royal Oak, MI this past Sunday (Sept. 5). According to several eyewitness accounts, the fight erupted as a result of onstage remarks made by Machado denouncing bands with "rock star" attitudes — comments which were believed to have been directed at SOULFLY. Rizzo reportedly confronted Machado behind the club's backstage area where the ILL NINO bus was parked and physically attacked the singer until the two were separated. An official statement from Roadrunner Records regarding the matter is expected later today (Sept. 8). One fan's unsubstantiated account of what transpired Sunday night can be found at this location. Cristian's version of the incident (as reported by a friend) can be found here.
Roadrunner Records has revealed the artwork and track listing for the forthcoming Ill Nino DVD, "Live In the Eye of the Storm." Due on November 1, "Live In the Eye of the Storm" (view artwork here) will contain the following cuts:

Soulfly have been confirmed as the headliners of "Window Rock Fest II" on August 14, 2004 in Window Rock, Arizona. Dubbed the largest metal music festival on Native American Soil, the one-day event will feature performances by 34 bands of hardcore, rock, punk, and blues music on three stages, a rave with DJ Abel, A skateboarding and bike competition, and main stage MCed by The Lizardman. Direct support at the festival will come from Ill Nino, with additional performances by Death Angel and Crisis. They will all be supported by 21 of the best Navajo/Native American metal/punk bands around, and some of the best bands from the southwest.
The main stage will be MCed by The Lizardman, described as "one of the most complete sideshow performers in history." In addition to his unique physical transformation, he has mastered an incredible repertoire of unusual acts and skills. He and his stage partner, Scott, combine these skills with extensive and diverse experience in live performance to create one of a kind show for all occasions.
On the main stage will be an exhibition by Fireblood, a team of body modification experts that use the art of suspension, piercing the flesh with hooks and being hoisted up in the air by wires attached to the hooks, in their act. There will also be an amateur skateboarding and bike competition by Tsosie Shindig in the Gorman Hall, which will be turned into the savage skateboarding and bike pavilion.
After the competition is completed and the bands performing on the third stage are finished, then DJ Abel will take over with his own brand of DJing for the rave, which will last until the closing of the event at 2:00 am.
Parts of the proceeds are going to the development of a skateboarding park for the youth of the Navajo Nation, which will be planned for the Window Rock area.

Taking a break between legs of the Metallica tour, Godsmack kicks off a sold-out headline tour of their own with Ill Nino and Dropbox. Godsmack's recent release of THE OTHER SIDE, their acoustic
record, debuted last week at #5 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. Dropbox, which is frontman Sully Erna's first signing to his new Universal imprint Realign Records, and opens all dates, is also featured on the new album with performance and co-writing credits for the song "Touche." Godsmack heads back out with Metallica, April 20 in Uniondale, NY.
Godsmack loyalists who download THE OTHER SIDE from iTunes, Napster and BuyMusic will receive Dropbox's 'Wishbone' as a bonus track. This digital value-add is the first such offer - bundling an album with a track that is already available for sale - for Universal Motown Records Group (UMRG).
Dropbox came together after Erna introduced Lee Richards, Godsmack's original guitarist, to frontman John Kosco, and they detonate April 13 with their self-titled debut, an explosive album of sprawling melodic rock delivered by a band with a deep reverence for the classics.

SOULFLY frontman Max Cavalera recently spoke to MetalUK.com about the group's upcoming CD, "Prophecy", and the recent personnel shuffles that have plagued the band, including the guest appearance on the album of former MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson. Asked what he feels the influx of fresh new people has brought to the record, Max said,
"It brought more fire to the whole album. It's one thing playing with people you know, you know exactly what you're going to get, and [another] playing with somebody that comes fresh and new, full of new ideas. [A] perfect example would be [former ILL NINO guitarist] Marc Rizzo, [who] has made the guitars on this album…the first time I've had guitars like this since SEPULTURA days, and I think that was a missing link in my music for a long time. Many people, including myself, always missed that killer rhythm and lead type chemistry I had in SEPULTURA, and I could never get it right in SOULFLY, and it was always a struggle. Marc comes in and makes this album completely much more the way it's supposed to be."
With regards to SOULFLY's collaboration with Ellefson, Max said: More...
