Reunited Dutch metallers GOREFEST have replaced ILL NINO on the billing of this year's Lowlands festival, set to take place August 18-20 in Biddinghuizen, The Netherlands.
"So... what one thinks would be within reach and with some effort possible won't happen and what one didn't expect to happen in a million years falls more or less in one's lap!" reads a posting on GOREFEST's web site.
"Lowlands 2006 asked us to fill in for ILL NINO who cannot appear due to a skateboard accident. So hereby we proudly announce that on Friday the 18th of August, between 20:00 and 21:00, a silent dream comes true for us on India stage. We are honoured and hope to see a lot of you there.
"This brings back some sweet memories..."
GOREFEST's latest album, "La Muerte", was released last October via Nuclear Blast Records.
ILL NIÑO have posted the following update at their official website:
"It is with sincere regret that we must announce that Ill Niño will not be able to perform its upcoming European tour. Danny Couto, Ill Niño's percussionist, and also semi-pro skateboarder, was in a skateboarding accident late Wednesday (August 2nd) night. Danny landed on his wrist and tore a ligament and is unable to use his right wrist and arm. This accident makes it impossible for Danny to perform in the upcoming European tour. Ill Niño works and lives like a family and each member is integral to every show. Ill Niño feel that performing without Danny not only takes away from the live show, but is unfair to the fans who expect nothing less than an amazing show. We promise to make up the shows as soon as possible. Thanks for supporting Ill Niño!"
Roadrunner Records will be releasing a "best of" collection from ILL NINO, aptly titled "The Best of Ill Nino", on September 12. The track listing for the CD is as follows:
01. What Comes Around
03. God Save Us
04. If You Still Hate Me
06. This Time's For Real
07. How Can I Live
09. Te Amo. I Hate You
10. What You Deserve
11. This Is War
12. Turns To Gray
13. Corazon Of Mine
"The Best of Ill Nino" will not be issued in Europe.
Ill Nino have signed a deal with Cement Shoes Records/Universal and are currently in Los Angeles, CA recording a new 5 song EP which will feature two new tracks from the band along with 3 as-yet unannounced covers. A fall release is expected. Furthermore, the band have also weighed in on their recently announced split with Roadrunner Records, you can read what they had to say at www.illnino.com.
GODHEAD, ILL NINO, and RA will be teaming up on a East Coast/Midwest tour starting late August through September.
ILL NINO, who recently parted ways with Roadrunner Records and guitarist Jardel, are said to be recording an album of just cover songs. The band are also rumored to be in talks with Cement Shoes Records, home of GODHEAD, about securing a new record deal.
ILL NINO has parted ways with Roadrunner Records less than a year after the release of its third album, "One Nation Underground". The band, who recently completed a number of U.S. and European dates with guitarist Diego Verduzco filling in for Jardel Paisante (who is said to be dealing with "personal family problems"), will make an appearance on on FJSradio.com, a free Internet radio station, later in the month. On July 27 starting at 4:20 p.m. U.S. EST time, a couple of the ILL NINO boys are going to be on "The Urban Assault" show. They will be sitting in for the entire five-hour program. Fans are encouraged to call, IM, and e-mail the station with questions for the band. Anyone can listen free. All you have to do is visit www.FJSradio.com and click on the "Tune In Live" link.
"The Urban Assault" show is co-hosted and co-created by Omar (a.k.a. Ohmz), who has been featured on all the ILL NINO records.
Bleed The Sky guitarist Kyle Moorman offers this update from the road while on the Jagermeister-sponsored tour with Ill Niño, God Forbid, Silent Civilian and Eyes Of Fire:
"This is the BEST tour we've been on! We've done two shows in New York City and Boston and both nights were awesome. We're always pushing ourselves to be better, to find new stuff to do on-stage, to give it our all for our live shows, and crowds like that definitely give us the energy we need to do that! Cristian [Machado, lead singer for Ill Niño] has watched our set every night. It's very flattering to have someone appreciating our music like that, and we're still on the road with our great friends in Silent Civilian. They REALLY helped us out when the transmission on our van blew up in Albuquerque by taking a lot of our gear in their trailer so we could make it home. I'll say it again: This is the BEST tour we've been on!"
Cristian Machado, lead vocalist for the bilingual Latino metal sextet Ill Niño, cites Orange County's BLEED THE SKY as one of his favorite bands and has hand-picked them to join the Jagermeister-sponsored "One Nation Undivided" spring tour. Set to launch on May 10th in New York City, the tour will conclude on June 10th in New Jersey. Also on the bill are God Forbid, Silent Civilian (featuring former Spineshank frontman Jonny Santos), and Eyes Of Fire.
BLEED THE SKY vocalist Noah Robinson has this to say about the upcoming 28-city trek: "We're all fans of Ill Niño. They're really one of our favorites, and getting to watch them every night, well, we'll be sure to take notes on their live show! [laughter]"
Guitarist Wayne Miller would also like to add the following: "Due to circumstances beyond our control, our tour dates in the Northwest this past week were re-routed due to this upcoming tour with Ill Niño. We had to cancel our shows in Seattle, Tacoma, Spokane, and Idaho Falls. We promise to make them up to all and we hope to be there again very soon. On the otherhand, we are very excited about going on the Jagermeister Presents Tour in May/June with such great bands as Ill Niño, God Forbid, Eyes of Fire, and our brothers in Silent Civilian. It will be an honor sharing the stage with them. We will be doing a short headlining run of warm-up dates with Silent Civilian and Eyes Of Fire on our way out to the Ill Niño tour."
The warm-up dates are as follows:
May 5th - Annex Lewis Bowl, Sioux City, IA
May 6th - Tops And Tails, Peoria, IL
May 7th - Clearwater Theater, West Dundee, IL
May 8th - Headliners, Toledo, OH
May 9th - Rockin Ricks, Limestone, NY

MTV News spoke with members of some 30 hard rock and metal bands about the Dimebag they remember. They told MTV how much he'd meant to them, they shared fond memories and spoke of the impact he made on their lives and their music. Here are several excerpts from the article:
David Draiman - frontman, Disturbed: "During our second Ozzfest, we were holed up in Dallas for about two or three days ... hanging out at Dime's place — it was an eclectic house. There's all kinds of Pantera memorabilia and Dimebag memorabilia all over the place. But you could never make the mistake of falling asleep at Dime's. He'd wake you up the way he always did: with firecrackers. He'd always set off an entire chain of firecrackers not two inches from my head. One time ... Dime took us to a strip club where we all judged a bikini contest. There was never a wrong time in the day for Dime to hit a strip club. ... Dime was just this character who was very easy to love. He didn't have a bad bone in his body, and was ready to give you the shirt off his back at all times. It was his mission in life to make sure every single moment you spent with him was the best moment of your life. He was selfless."
Zakk Wylde - frontman, Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society: "Whenever you were around Dime, there was never a boring moment. He was the coolest guy on the planet. He was an even better person than he was a guitar player, if that's even possible. Whenever me and him would hook up, forget about it, bro. We'd always have to have a spare kidney, liver and pancreas on ice."
Brian Fair - frontman, Shadows Fall: "Dime seemed to have a real problem with the clock on our tour bus. It all started with his tour manager trying to tell him it was time to leave. ... We were having a good old time and Dime didn't want to go to bed. So, as soon as he was told it was time to leave, he grabbed the clock off of the wall and screams at the top of his lungs, 'There is no time!' and he smashed his hand right through it. The clock was made of glass and metal, and shrapnel flew everywhere. He went through three clocks on our bus like that. Anytime anyone tried to tell him it was time to go, he'd destroy the clock. He didn't want to end the party — he wanted it to keep going. We kept replacing the clock because we wanted to see what happened next."
