"Many Waters," a new compilation produced by Thou with help from Thrill Jockey, is due to be released on January 30th, with proceeds going to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank to assist efforts in aiding those affected by the Louisiana floods of August 2016.
The compilation features a range of exclusive tracks from acclaimed metal acts as well as Louisiana DIY mainstays, including The Body & Full of Hell covering Devo, Thou covering Neil Young, special live tracks from Sumac and Old Man Gloom, and a solo live recording by Mike Scheidt of Yob.
Thou drummer Joshua Nee comments: “I spent the better part of three weeks after the flood driving around neighborhoods looking for homes to help out. Every day after work and pretty much all day on the weekends was spent gutting damaged homes. A practice space we had been sharing with a slew of other bands was totally wrecked, and countless bands I know had their spaces and equipment destroyed. More...
EyeHateGod frontman Mike IX Williams successfully underwent a liver transplant last month and is currently on the slow road to recovery. To help with his mounting medical expenses, several benefit shows are being organized, the first of which will run from February 3rd through the 5th in Williams' hometown of New Orleans.
The three-day, festival-styled event will take place at Siberia and Poor Boys venues and includes appearances by Eyehategod, Crowbar, Goatwhore, Thou, Classhole, Mountain Of Wizard, and many more acts bound together for the cause.
Though weekend passes are no longer available, the shows are not sold out. Remaining tickets will be available at the door for each show. Orange amplification has donated a Micro Dark amp with O headphones that will be raffled off along with EyeHateGod test presses and other Mike IX memorabilia. The Body & Thou - a collaboration between the two bands The Body and Thou - is streaming a new music video for the song "Beyond the Realms of Dream, That Fleeting Shade Under the Corpus of Vanity" off the album "You, Whom I Have Always Hated" out on Thrill Jockey.
Being asked about where the clip was shot and who the person in the parka is Thou’s Mitch Wells explains: "The video was all done pretty easily, and cheaply! I only spent $30 on a strobe light, and the creepy person in the parka is my beautiful, beautiful, amazing wife Kathryn. Unfortunately for her we don’t really know too many people in Los Angeles yet so she’s forced, by marriage law, to walk around late at night scaring the neighbors. I would tell her things like, “Okay now act weird!” and she’d say, “What does that mean!? I don’t know what you want!!” I think she nailed it!"
You can now stream the eerie clip below.
In less than a week, The Body and Thou will embark on their Summer tour to Gilead Fest, supporting not only their own respective new releases, but also their recently released collaborative LP, "Released From Love."
Vinyl-only independent label Vinyl Rites unleashed "Released From Love" in April, a fully collaborative recording featuring the entire ensembles of both Louisiana's doom/sludge quintet Thou and Oregon-based apocalyptic doom cult The Body.

The songs are now available for streaming below, thanks to Invisible Oranges, and the track listing is as follows:

Here we go again! Another installment of Unearthing the Metal Underground in the Crescent City a.k.a. The Big Easy a.k.a. N'awlins. Whichever you prefer. With Steven Seagal keeping the streets safe, the metal bands can safely play, and they have been doing quite a bit of that lately. I've got three more amazing bands to tell you about; all playing at least once a month. Please enjoy the reviews and footage. Mabye it will entice you to take a trip down here to check them out. Don't worry; the seafood is safe.
Machine Made Slave
Machine Made Slave plays frequently around New Orleans. If you’ve read my show reports, you’re sure to remember the name. Soon they’ll be opening for Watain and Goatwhore to complete the black metal showcase. Through the many lineup changes, founding members and brothers Jason and Trevor Milbourne (on vocals and bass, respectively) have remained and transformed the band into something truly evil. The talented guitarists Rene and Kevin Roche, who are also brothers, combine a classic metal rawness with black metal melodies and even some South American tunes into their playing. And although Ryan Willis does not have a brother in the band, he still does a fine job of pounding the skins. Jason claims that Machine Made Slave will be recording a full-length album soon when they find a proper studio. He claims that they are taking their time with every aspect of the album so that it’s perfect; “So that it doesn’t sound like a demo.” You can watch a clip of one of their shows with the inclusion of female singer Amy Vial below. We wish you luck in the recording process! Visit their Myspace to see their progress.
