From: South Africa
Last Known Status: Active
After forming in 1999, Seether (originally Saron Gas) quickly gained notoriety in their home country's anemic rock market. The band's South African release, Fragile, became one of the best selling titles of the year, and Seether emerged as a top live draw. This was no small feat in a land where rock bands play second banana to indigenous music and pop.
Seether's brand of passive-aggressive rock - both highly accessible, yet angry - lead to their signing with Wind-Up Records and a spot on Ozzfest in 2002.

"Well, that didn't sound as cool writing it but, just imagine the 'Truck and Tractor Pull voice-over guy' doing that 'Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!!!' thing. We have been in the studio for the last few weeks with the 'mighty' Brendan O' Brien producing and the new stuff is sounding great! Brendan is the perfect fit for us and working with him has been a blast. So, with us hard at work it's time for a little 'play-time'!! We have some shows starting at the end of April thru May (check website for dates near you!!). It's time to let Seether do what we do best...sweat on stage, bang the crap out of our instruments and knock over a few beer bottles, in the process. We are really looking forward to these shows!! Tenth Street Entertainment — which represents MÖTLEY CRÜE — has shot down as (at least partially) "blatantly false and completely unfounded" Internet rumors that CRÜE will headline a festival-type tour called "Cruefest", with support from several other artists from the Tenth Street management stable, including BUCKCHERRY, PAPA ROACH, SIXX: A.M. and DROWNING POOL. According to Tenth Street, CRÜE's April 15 press conference/announcement in Los Angeles will relate to "a few" (but presumably not all) of the following artists:
PUDDLE OF MUDD
THEORY OF DEADMAN
THREE DAYS GRACE
BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE
BELLE & SEBASTIAN
3 DOORS DOWN
All four members of CRÜE will be present at the April 15 press conference at a location yet to be determined for what the release hyped as "by far...one of the biggest music announcements of the year!!" The band is also launching a contest in which one grand prize winner from each major city in the country will be flown to Los Angeles to cover the announcement, complete with a chance to interview the band and have the interview broadcast live. Details can be found at the official CRÜE site.
Seether’s “Fake It” has broken the record set by the Foo Fighters for the longest running single atop the Modern Rock chart. “The Pretender” by the Foo Fighters had been on top of the charts for 18 weeks. “Fake It” is also No. 1 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.
The band will begin a Canadian tour with Three Days Grace next month which will be followed by a U.S. tour with Three Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin in February.
