A Life Once Lost Signs To Season Of Mist

Season of Mist has officially inked a record deal with U.S. groove metal act A Life Once Lost. "After over a year and a half of working on this record and setback after setback we can finally announce that [our next album] is coming out on Season of Mist in 2011," affirms guitarist Doug Sabolick. "Taking time away from the road helped us look at the band from an outside perspective, which then helped mold a record that encompasses our collective mood over the past few years in typical ALOL fashion. Musically, the theme of this record is to pummel the listener into submission via ignorant riffs. We are finishing writing and demoing as we speak and look forward to working hand in hand with Season of Mist to deliver our vision to the masses."

A Life Once Lost also has the following upcoming tour dates:

04 Feb 11 Baltimore, MD (US) Sonar
05 Feb 11 Springfield, VA (US) Jaxx
06 Feb 11 Richmond, VA (US) The Hat Factory
07 Feb 11 Long Island, NY (US) EHS
08 Mar 11 Montreal, QC (CA) Le Petit Campus (+ Atheist)
09 Mar 11 New York, NY (US) Santo's Party House (+ Atheist)
10 Mar 11 Baltimore, MD (US) Sonar (+ Atheist)
12 Mar 11 Atlanta, GA (US) Masquerade (+ Atheist)

Evergreen Terrace Posts New Song Online

Jacksonville, Florida metal band, Evergreen Terrace, has posted the first single from their upcoming full length, “Almost Home.” “Enemy Sex” is now available to stream on the band's MySpace page.

Speaking on the significance of the new album's title, James says, “We are a touring band, and it feels like we are forever saying we're ‘almost home.' Touring is something that nothing compares to, but there's a feeling of almost being home that resonates with all of us. In a way the band has come full circle back to its original home. We started this band for fun, and it lead us to success. Writing this album has brought us back to the beginning. It has been fun, crazy, frustrating, insomniatic and even with the inevitable pressure, pretty carefree.” More...

See Great Metal Bands At Shaun Luu Horror Fest

If you're in the Syracuse, NY area, there is a really awesome fest to go to this weekend. This fest combines two great things: b-movies and metal/hxc/punk music.

The Shaun Luu Horror Fest is an annual music/movie festival held in memory of Shaun Luu, who died in 2005 from brain cancer. From the fest site:

"Shaun was an amazing guy who was a big part of the Syracuse, NY hardcore/metal community. He sang for Word As A Virus and was a constant face in the crowd at pretty much every kind of show around here. He meant a lot to a lot of people and the fest is our way of remembering him and giving something back.

All the money made gets donated in Shaun's name to fight cancer. The first few years of the festival the money was donated to the American Cancer Society. Last year we decided that the money should stay local so we set up a few funds at University Hospital/Golisano Childrens Hospital in Shaun's name. One of the funds is to support brain cancer treatment and research at University Hospital, one fund is to get some new games and things for the activity room on the cancer ward in the children's hospital (the current activity room is run down and sparse...there are kids there that spend months stuck in the hospital, sick, and depressed as hell...it'd be nice to get some better things in there for them. Keeping peoples spirits up can make all the difference in fighting a disease), and the last fund is to raise money to build a new nurses station in the new children's hospital that will be marked in memory of Shaun."

So you can see eight movies for $20 on Saturday, then for $10 you can see twelve great bands, and at the same time help give some hope to cancer-stricken youth. You'll see the itinerary and all information after the jump.

A Life Once Lost Vocalist Forms Staggered Works

A Life Once Lost vocalist Robert Meadows has announced the launch of his new record label, Staggered Works Music. The label’s first release is slated for April 17th with Doylestown, PA hardcore band War Pigs.

Staggered Works Music is a spin-off of the Bucks County and Philadelphia booking agency Staggered Works, which was founded by Meadows in 2006. Since 06’, Robert Meadows has gathered like-minded individuals and Staggered Works has grown to be a collective of concert promoters, musicians and artists organizing anywhere from 5-15 all ages/21 + shows a month in Bucks County & Philadelphia. “With so many great bands emerging from Bucks County, Philadelphia and everywhere else under the sun, it just made sense to build a home for artists and bands that feel the way we do about music.” says Meadows.

Staggered Works Music has plans to release several more albums over the next year in genres ranging from hardcore to metal to even experimental rock and pop punk. “We are going to be bringing something to a music scene that has been lacking for years now, in my opinion - THE TRUE PASSION FOR MUSIC. This has been a dream of mine now for years, to be able to release music that is affordable and also exceptional in every way. This is supposed to be fun, remember.” says Meadows.

Staggered Works Music has a record release show planned for War Pigs’ new album “Degeneration” on April 17th at The Moose Lodge in Doylestown, PA. War Pigs will share the stage that night with SHIPWRECK A.D., LAYIN WASTE (featuring Robert Meadows), EATING GLASS, BONGRIPPER, and BURDENS. The new album is now on presale at the SW Distro store by visiting www.staggeredworks.org. The album will also be available through Revelation Records as well as a few other distributors. War Pigs will also be performing with Madball May 10th and going on an 11 day tour of the east coast starting May 21st. More information about Staggered Works, Staggered Works Music and War Pigs can be found at www.staggeredworks.org. War Pigs’ new album can also be streamed on their Myspace profile.
