Below is our complete Revolution Renaissance news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
Timo Tolkki, formerly of power metallers Stratovarius, has announced his decision to split apart his current project Revolution Renaissance due to various reasons. Tolkki commented by saying:
"Due to my private problems, the lack of interest in Revolution Renaissance, shows by the promoters, and the current situation in the music industry that affects to everything including the production budgets, it has become impossible to continue the band. We have tried to book shows in these last three years, but we haven't been able to do so. A rock band cannot exist without direct contact to its fans. Therefore I have no other choice but to make the decision to stop the band and its activities due to the above-mentioned reasons. The third and final album of the band will be released at the end of September. From the bottom of my heart I would like to thank all the fans of my music throughout the years. It's been a great journey."
A third Revolution Renaissance album, titled "Trinity," is still planned for release later in the year through Napalm Records.
Revolution Renaissance, who recently signed a three-album deal with Napalm Records, has announced that they've parted with the bass player Justin Biggs and the keyboard player Michael Khalilov. The band states:
"During the recordings of 'Age of Aquarius' it became evident to everybody that Revolution Renaissance was not the right band for the guys. Justin is more of a trash guy and Mike expected the music to be something totally different.
"Out of these reasons the decision has been made that it is better to go seprate ways. Both are great guys and the remaining members Timo Tolkki, Gus Monsanto and Bruno Agra wish them well and best of luck on their musical endeavours. Check out the new album of Mike's band Empyreon from iTunes and Justin's band Descend."
The remaining members have been writing songs for many months now and you can expect the follow up to "Age of Aquarius" sometime next year.
Finnish power metal band Revolution Renaissance has signed to Napalm Records. The band is led by songwriter and guitarist Timo Tolkki, of the band Stratovarius. The band is expected to release their new album in 2010.
Timo Tolkki comments on the signing, "I am very happy to start a co-operation with Napalm Records. They are an excellent company with strong promotional capabilities extending all the way to the US, where they have their own office. I'm looking forward to bringing my music to the Metal Fans with the help of this strong record label. I am also looking forward to bringing my story to the public in the form of an autobiography which will be released later this year."
Timo Tollki, formerly of Stratovarius and currently with Revolution Renaissance and the more recent Project Strato, has issued an updates on a number of things from his personal projects to the status of Revolution Renaissance:
"Sorry for the lack of updates. I have been really busy working hard with different things and projects. Some mixes for my mixing service, composing songs for Project Strato, one Finnish female artist and producing a record for a really cool new Goldenworks artist.
"I've been also writing my book and it is almost finished. It is sort of an autobiography covering the years 1975-2009. It is called: "Intermission - Entr'acte". Some kind and beautiful people are helping me with this by editing and translating. For free. That is truly amazing.
It will come out in English, Finnish, Portugese and Spanish. I try to make the price as low as possible. You will be able to order it from a certain webshop (I'm negotiating about it at the moment) and from some bookstores and record shops. I hope to get it out early September.
"Things don't look too good for RR unfortunately. We have tried but we have no gigs confirmed and actually we don't even have a record deal at the moment. Anyway, we have been working on a new website at least and it should be up in some time soon. There is an intropage already at www.revolution-renaissance.com if you want to have a look. For those who have speakers in their computers, the intropage has a little surprise.
We had to close down the forum to weed out the spam bots and fill in some security holes. This might take some time. Sorry for that.
"When we have something to tell about the possible gigs and new recordings, we will of course inform you right away."
Timo Tolkki has announced that Jari Kainulainen has joined him, Tuomo Lassila and Antti Ikonen for the "Return to Dreamspace" album that is due out later in this fall. This makes the exact same line-up from the original Stratovarius album, "Dreamspace," which was released in 1994.
In related news, Timo Tolki will be performing with Fabio Lione in Rome on Friday, April 4. The club is called Palarockness and it is situated in Genzano di Roma.
Revolution Renaissance has posted "The Making of 'Age of Aquarius'," a documentary in which you can see how the album is being put together piece by piece starting from drum tracking at Sonic Pump studios and ending at Finnvox Studios for mastering. You will be able to take a look at how records are made and also witness some of the crazy humor the two month process of recording necessarily generates. You will also hear bits of new songs you've never heard before.
You can watch the documentary here.
Revolution Renaissance has issued the following statement about making a new MP3 available for free download:

It is once again DRM free high quality MP3 that you can use anyway you please. You can listen and / or download it at this location. We hope you like it and we also want to thank you for your great support, your kind emails, and your encouragement. It means a lot to us."
Revolution Renaissance has issued the following update about postponing the release date of their upcoming album:

"In the meantime we would like to give you another gift: the title track of the album "Age Of Aquarius". It is DRM free, high quality bandwith MP3 that you can use in any way you wish to. Additionally we are posting on our website the first and the last pages of the 16 page booklet that comes with the release so you can see how the cover looks like."
Revolution Renaissance, the new band of the Stratovarius mastermind Timo Tolkki, has signed a worldwide record deal for one album with Scarlet Records. The band was previously set to work with Frontiers Records in a deal that was later nullified.
The last weeks have kept Tolkki and his band members busy putting finishing touches to the band's first real debut album entitled "AGE OF AQUARIUS". Recorded over 3 months in Finland, it is by far the darkest, heaviest and most symphonic album that Tolkki has ever been involved in.
Finding a close connection with his new band members Gus Monsanto and Bruno Agra, the trio locked itself in a cabin in Finland for a month and composed 10 new songs. It is the first time during Tolkki's career that he shared the whole songwriting process with other band members.
"I just felt this incredibly fresh vibe with these guys and the songs were just flowing. It was so natural process that it almost felt like the songs were already composed and we just let them be born. It was possible because in Gus and Bruno I finally have found the kindred spirits I have been looking for so long. The results were something that none of us were expecting and yet at the same time, we felt that this record is exactly the way it is supposed to be," comments Tolkki.
The release date of "AGE OF AQUARIUS" is 25.3.2009 in South East Asia (JVC) and on 9.3.2009 in the rest of the world. The band also filmed a promotional video in Helsinki for the title track of the album.
The tracklisting includes: "The Age of Aquarius", "So She Wears Black," "Ixion's Wheel," "Kyrie Eleison," "Revolution Has Begun," "Sins of My Beloved," "Behind the Mask," "Ghost of Fallen Grace," "Children of the Future," and "The Heart of All".
The tours are currently been booked to promote "AGE OF AQUARIUS" worldwide and are planned to start from South America in early April.
Scarlet Records will also release Timo Tolkki's 3rd solo album, the ethereal classical Rock Opera "Saana-Warrior of Light part 1" Worldwide on 23.1.2009.
REVOLUTION RENAISSANCE has issued an official statement concerning their forthcoming South American tour:
"We are forced to postpone our tour due to lack of professionalism and responsibility of the promoter Incartaz. They approached us with an offer for the tour in June, which we were very happy about. When the time came to start fulfilling the contractual obligations, it became evident that this promoter was incompetent and could not be trusted.
"We are very sorry about this and we tried to book the tour with the new promoter Eric De Haas of Dynamo Productions, but due to his obligations with Nightwish's South American tour, he did not have enough time to finalize the touring arrangements. We have full confidence in Eric De Haas, who was responsible for the first three South American tours for Stratovarius. The tour is currently being booked in correspondence with the new album release."

"Yesterday I finally got confirmation that we are able to do this. They simply were not the right label for us. That became clear in the last few months. I would describe the experience with Frontiers Records with the word: 'interesting.'
"I am currently negotiating with several interesting labels, but I haven't made any decision yet. There is a lot of interest and that feels good.
"We were offered an extensive 20 date Latin American tour for this December.
"I am also already (well it's been over 2 years since I wrote "New Era" songs) writing new songs and can't wait to go to studio and on the road with these energetic and positive guys I was blessed to find. We will keep you posted regularily about what is happening on our camp.
"Many thanks from all the support you have shown in the las weeks. We will not forget that. You can listen/download full version of the song 'Revolution Renaissance' with lyrics from the player."

Thank you so much for sending all those...all together I have received over 1500 applications and I have listened through them all. I am sorry for those who were not chosen, but I can tell you that you should NEVER give up. Follow your heart and you will get there eventually.
