Swashbuckle guitarist Commodore RedRum has posted a break down of the band's lyrics via the Bald Freak Blog. An excerpt from his post follows:
Top of the eve to ye all. It's RedRum here from Swashbuckle, with a lyrical treat for all you boys and girls who care about words, and the poetic combinations thereof. I've been strong armed by the good people at Bald Freak Music to contribute more to this blog in the way of a personable, heartfelt, exposé of sorts. Something "to help fans get a bit more intimate with the band", I was told. My tricorn hat is off to anybody who wants to get more "intimate" with us. In any case, I racked my brain for days trying to come up with something that wasn't available elsewhere. So here's an in-depth look into the lyrics for every song with written word on our debut record, Crewed by the Damned (released on Bald Freak). I'll follow this up in a few weeks with a post in the same fashion regarding our second record, Back to the Noose, which was so kindly perpetuated by the mighty Nuclear Blast Records. Finally, I'll conclude this little miniseries with a guided look at the songs on our upcoming third release, Crime Always Pays (also to be released on Nuclear Blast Records). So without further adieu, I give you the track by track conceptual ramblings on Crewed by the Damned:
Welcome Aboard: “Welcome Aboard” was the first set of lyrics ever written for Swashbuckle. I remember the evening vividly - Admiral Nobeard and I brainstorming song titles for the freshly birthed pirate project. Nobeard immediately pulled out the quatrain "Taking to the sails at dawn / Ravage the seven seas / Yo Ho, Yo Ho / This pirate’s life for me" and the tom foolery kick started instantly. The rest of the song is mostly my prose, and to be honest, it is so far from impressive that it hurts. I pretty much tried to throw in every pirate cliché imaginable, assuming that the band would not grow to anything more than just a basement-recorded Myspace joke. One of the most memorable lines for me on this record is the last bit of this tune: "In a world of map-drawn lines / True paradise yet defined".More...

New Jersey's pirate thrashers SWASHBUCKLE have recently parted ways with drummer Captain Crashride. A new replacement has already been found with a guy called Bootsmann Collins.
The band comments, "Ahoy scallywags and asshats! There's been a bit of a change in the 'buckle rank as of late. We have recently parted ways with drummer Captain Crashride. He brought us five years of service and utter shenanigans, and we wish him nothing but the best in combating that extreme outbreak of scurvy. With that being said, we now have a new drummer stepping up to fill the boots and more so to speak, and that man be none other than Bootsmann Collins. He's a fucking killer drummer and quite the retarded pirate. So we couldn't be more stoked to have him aboard. So please give him a warm welcome with yar internet shit-talk and utter disgust for everything piratical. We wouldn't have it any other way. Eat a bowl of fuck! Love, Admiral Nobeard. P.S. Check out the bootsmann's other band as well - WE ALL HAVE DAY JOBS Tootles!" More...
Bassist/vocalist Pat Henry of New Jersey pirate metal band Swashbuckle has issued the following studio update:
"'Buckle drum tracks for 'Crime Always Pays' will be finished tonight. Starting on guitars/bass this week. This record is moving along awesomely. This record is the equivalent of being punched in the face by a metal-squid wearing boxing gloves made of brass and iron, whilst reading many leatherbound volumes."
New Jersey based pirate metal outfit Swashbuckle has revealed some important details regarding their new studio album. A message from the band reads as follows: "Ahoy asshats and saucy wenches! At the moment we pirates three are hard at work on recording our new album entitled Crime Always Pays. That's right jerks, the thrash band with a pirate problem is back in action crafting malicious metal jams with tales of piratical shenanigans. It's gonna be a heavy record, so expect to beat the shit out of your siblings and parental units whilst ye get caught in a mosh. Expect some video-updates as we progress on our studio-adventures of musical-retardation, and while you're at it, catch us on the road in May with HYPOCRISY. It'll be a killer time.
"Some of the new song titles we got rollin' with are: 'This Rounds On You!', 'Raw-Doggin' At the Rawbar' and 'You Bring The Cannons, We'll Bring the Balls'. Aye, I know what you be thinkin', this seems like a whole 'lotta hooplah, but let me assure you...heh, it says ass....uh, where was I. Oh yeah, let me assure you that it'll thrash your fucking brains into your butt hole. Yep. I stand by that, brain-thrashed buttholes. Ooohh Yeah brother!
"Stay Classy, and eat a bowl of fuck. Love, Admiral Nobeard."

Pirate metallers Swashbuckle have issued the following update about performing on the 70,000 tons of metal cruise ship:
"Swashbuckle confirmed for 70,000 tons of metal cruise (ship terror!) ......That's right, you sea chum. You knew it had to happen eventually... Swashbuckle is confirmed for the biggest floating metal festival in the history of water - 70,000 tons of metal. Featuring 40 bands, this 4 day booze-cruise will embark from Miami, Florida on January 24th, 2011, make berth in beautiful Cozumel, Mexico, and return to Miami on January 28th. We'll be sharing this ridiculous floating stage with the likes of Sodom, Amon Amarth, Finntroll, Obituary, Saxon, and plenty more kick ass bands.
"This is a legit cruise ship, people. With casinos, lounges, spas, shops, bars, shuffleboard, lifeboats, fitness centers, bars, room service, rock climbing walls, and bars with lots of alcohol... Book your cabin now and witness cruise ship terror become reality! If Cozumel is lucky, maybe we won't steal their ancient Mayan ruins."
More information on the cruise ship can be found at this location.
New Jersey pirate thrash metal band SWASHBUCKLE has posted the third episode of the recently launched first season of "Ask The Admiral" - a conceptual series of video clips in which singer & bass player Admiral Nobeard talks about the most recent metal records, but also gives the audience the chance to submit questions. Watch the fourhth episode below:
Swedish modern metallers Soilwork will embark on a North American headlining tour this summer with Bay Area thrash legends Death Angel. Joining them will be Quebec’s tech-death masters Augury, Roadrunner Records recording artists Mutiny Within, and pirate themed thrashers Swashbuckle.
Soilwork vocalist Bjorn “Speed” Strid commented: "We are stoked to tour with the most vicious thrashers from the west, famous for their gin drinking and intense live shows. Death Angel is a classic band that we've wanted to tour with for a long time. A perfect fit for the bill and surely an awesome touring companion. The summer of mosh is upon us. Don't miss out!"
Death Angel frontman Mark Osegueda added: “I can't begin to tell you how excited we are about the upcoming tour! I first heard Soilwork on a Nuclear Blast promo compilation and they stood out from the first listen. The riffs, the drumming, and Bjorn's vocal attack! Then we were fortunate enough to play with them at With Full Force Festival a few years back and they killed it live! As fate would have it, I was asked to participate in a Nuclear Blast 20 Year Anniversary compilation album called Out of the Dark, which Peter Wichers wrote the music for. I wrote the lyrics and melody for a song on that compilation called ‘My Name is Fate’! Peter actually was also the producer, so I was fortunate enough to get to work with him in the studio! What a brilliant guy and and a great musician and now that he is back in the fold Soilwork is back on top of their game. I think the musical styles and live performances of both bands will make every show on this tour a show not to be missed by any true fan of HEAVY music! So don't just hear about the aftermath, experience it for yourself!”
Augury lead singer/guitar player Patrick Loisel: “We are very proud to be part of such a great tour with Soilwork, perform alongside legends such as Death Angel (a band whom I covered in my old bands), and join our brothers in Swashbuckle again. It's quite a thrill!”
Soilwork and Death Angel have now added a special event VIP ticket for a pre-show meet-and-greet to take place one hour before doors. Each night, fans will get to meet and greet Soilwork and Death Angel for a special event that is being offered. Fans will also receive a customized poster to get signed by both bands. These special VIP tickets are on sale now at EnterTheVault.com.
