"We're still writing and demoing more songs for a new albums worth of piratical stupidity, so be ready for some wack as fuck jams that'll re-animate Barry White into a Mech Warrior. But for now, listen to a demo of one of our brand new songs "Beer Goggles." Tell your friends to listen to it. Tell your enemies. Shit, tell your fuckin' grandma. She's more metal than you any day."

New Jersey based thrash pirates Swashbuckle have posted up an update on the writing process for the band's upcoming, yet untitled, fourth LP and the first since 2010's "Crime Always Pays..." The band has also promised to cover the Weird Al song "Dare to be Stupid" in the next couple of weeks, as a result of the fans voting them the winner in the recent Thrash Magazine March Metal Madness. The following was posted on the band's Facebook Page:
Piratical News Update: Well folks, we've been hard (read: hardly) at work on new demos and such and recently have finished up 7 new jams that will appear on our as yet unreleased record sometime in the near future (read: end of humanity as we all know it.) The best way to describe it is - Thrashy as fuck, punky as hell, more grinds than a box of Foldgers, and the utmost weirdly epic songs under a minute and a half that songs under a minute and a half can possibly be. Expect utter shenanigans and tom foolery on this one and get ready to mosh your taints off.
We also promised you dorks that if we won Thrash Magazine's Metal March Madness, we'd grace you with a cover of Weird Al's "Dare To Be Stupid," so be on the look out for that in the next couple of weeks.
That's all folks. Now kick rocks, nerds.

New Jersey pirate thrashers Swashbuckle have issued the following statement about recruiting Anna Murphy and Meri Tadic of Eluveitie to guest on the band's upcoming album:
"We in the ‘Buckle are stoked to announce two very special guest appearances on 'Crime Always Pays…' That’s right, we sailed our ship right over a bunch of really high mountains and hijacked two of Switzerland’s finest folk metal musicians, the wonderful Anna Murphy and Meri Tadic from Eluveitie!
"Anna can be heard elegantly cranking her hurdy-gurdy’s rosin wheel on the song ‘Slowly Wept the Sea’, and Meri fiddles up a fury on the tune ‘Of Hooks And Hornswogglers’. We’ve been friends with the lasses for many a moon and it was a blast finally getting to work with them. However, don’t let this fool ya, ye twat waffles… this is still the most aggressive, in yar face Swashbuckle record to date, so ya best be checkin’ it out, or else the Swiss wenches get it!"
Three of Nuclear Blast’s best took a free day off from their huge tour with Soilwork to play in New Orleans, and we were very grateful. Although it was a Sunday (even the heaviest metallers have day jobs) many showed up to see Death Angel, who have not visited our swampy soil in decades. I was able to tape the first few songs of Death Angel’s set for your viewing pleasure. More...

Swashbuckle guitarist Commodore RedRum has posted a break down of the band's lyrics via the Bald Freak Blog. An excerpt from his post follows:
Top of the eve to ye all. It's RedRum here from Swashbuckle, with a lyrical treat for all you boys and girls who care about words, and the poetic combinations thereof. I've been strong armed by the good people at Bald Freak Music to contribute more to this blog in the way of a personable, heartfelt, exposé of sorts. Something "to help fans get a bit more intimate with the band", I was told. My tricorn hat is off to anybody who wants to get more "intimate" with us. In any case, I racked my brain for days trying to come up with something that wasn't available elsewhere. So here's an in-depth look into the lyrics for every song with written word on our debut record, Crewed by the Damned (released on Bald Freak). I'll follow this up in a few weeks with a post in the same fashion regarding our second record, Back to the Noose, which was so kindly perpetuated by the mighty Nuclear Blast Records. Finally, I'll conclude this little miniseries with a guided look at the songs on our upcoming third release, Crime Always Pays (also to be released on Nuclear Blast Records). So without further adieu, I give you the track by track conceptual ramblings on Crewed by the Damned:
Welcome Aboard: “Welcome Aboard” was the first set of lyrics ever written for Swashbuckle. I remember the evening vividly - Admiral Nobeard and I brainstorming song titles for the freshly birthed pirate project. Nobeard immediately pulled out the quatrain "Taking to the sails at dawn / Ravage the seven seas / Yo Ho, Yo Ho / This pirate’s life for me" and the tom foolery kick started instantly. The rest of the song is mostly my prose, and to be honest, it is so far from impressive that it hurts. I pretty much tried to throw in every pirate cliché imaginable, assuming that the band would not grow to anything more than just a basement-recorded Myspace joke. One of the most memorable lines for me on this record is the last bit of this tune: "In a world of map-drawn lines / True paradise yet defined".More...
