Rivers Of Nihil Releases Guitar Playthrough

Public Sales Begin For 70,000 Tons Of Metal 2017

UMC - promoters for the Original and World's Largest Cruise Festival, 70,000 Tons of Metal - have now opened up the 2017 installment to public sales. Check out how to plan your metal vacation using the link below.

In addition, the lineup is taking shape as an additional 20 acts were added to the bill, bringing the total announced at 36 of 60 bands, as follows:

Arch Enemy, Demolition Hammer, Devildriver, Draconinan, Dying Fetus, Gojira, Marduk, Moonsorrow, Omnium Gatherum, Orden Ogan, Revocation, Saltatio Mortis, Serenity, Stamina, Stuck Mojo, Testament, Uli Jon Roth, Unleashed, Vreid and Xandria.

70,000 Tons of Metal 2016 will set sail on February 2nd-6th from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and for the first time will port in Haiti at Labadee.

The festival will once again be hosted by The Independence of the Seas (via Royal Caribbean). The ship will accommodate four stages: The Alhambra Theater is a five-story concert hall in which they spare no expense to remove part of the (very comfortable) seating so you have a real Mosh Pit on the High Seas; The more intimate Egyptian themed Pyramid Lounge offers the local club atmosphere; The third indoor stage is in Studio B, the ice skating rink featuring a maritime version of the Arena experience and last but not least their jewel: The Pool Deck stage - The World’s Biggest Open Air Stage Structure to ever sail the Open Seas, surrounded by multiple bars and pools, plenty of room to sunbathe on several decks and even hot tubs incorporated into the Pool Deck stage to soak in while you watch the shows!

The All-Star Jam band, which returned this past January will also be back, led by Annihilator's Jeff Waters and members from the various acts aboard performing cover tunes live.

The Summer Slaughter Tour At Concord Music Hall

I'll admit that I've been out of the death metal scene for a few years and mostly listening to a lot of already established artists at the expense of new ones. In fact, I haven't been to a Summer Slaughter since 2011. So it was good to see a concert full of artists who I mostly haven't seen yet. Some really impressed me, other didn't. Either way, I wanted to be surprised by hearing artists who I mostly wasn't familiar with.

This year's Summer Slaughter Tour was primarily backed by Sumerian Records (who were also a major backer of Chicago Open Air) as a promotion of Sumerian's upcoming entry into films with American Satan. I'd normally have a problem with the biggest annual heavy metal tour in North America being rendered into a commercial for something completely unrelated but the former bearer of that torch was really just an advertisement for Monster Energy Drink. Pit Stories: Knocked Out Before The Show

Gather 'round metal heads, it's story time!

That's right, we're back for your Tuesday Pit Story, this time from Dan Gargiulo of U.S. outfit Revocation.

For this week's tale, Dan shares a story about getting knocked out quite unexpectedly in Boston... in full view of a future band member. Gargiulo tells the story like this:

I was about 19 and a band I was in played a show in Boston. I was watching one of the openers fairly close to the front row. Next thing I know I'm having a dream about some clouds and stuff, but a few moments later I regained consciousness and my buddies were asking if I was alright.

Apparently a pit busted out and before I even realized it, some dude cracked me in the jaw hard enough to knock out a skinny teenager. I drank some water and I was awake but definitely confused and I didn't really know where I was. We were on next so I just got up on stage and did my thing. I'm told we played alright, but I don't remember many details from that night. I wonder if I had a concussion?

Anyway I'd love to file that under "embarrassing scenarios that nobody but me remembers", but I can't, because one of the attendees of that show was none other than David Davidson, who I would end up meeting a few years later. When I joined Revocation, we had some laughs over that story.

Revocation Posts New Lyric Video

Today Revocation has unleashed a third blistering track from upcoming album "Great is Our Sin." Check out the lyric video for "Crumbling Imperium" in the player below.

Revocation's "Great is Our Sin" is slated for a July 22nd release date via Metal Blade Records.

In support of the album, Revocation will be hitting the road this summer as part of the Summer Slaughter tour alongside Cannibal Corpse, Nile, After the Burial, Suffocation, Carnifex, Krisiun, Slaughter to Prevail and Ingested. The tour kicks July 23rd in Orlando, FL and runs through August 21st in Atlanta, GA

Beyond Creation Announces European Tour

Canadian tech death band Beyond Creaiton has announced a new European tour, kicking off on October 20th and seeing the band travel throughout Germany, Holland, The UK, Belgium, France, and more.

Revocation Announces "Great Is Our Sin"

Revocation's new album "Great Is Our Sin" is coming July 22nd via Metal Blade Records, with the label boasting this is the band's "most dynamic, boundary-pushing and weighty release to date."

The first song from the album entitled "Communion" is available for streaming below, and you can also pre-order at this location. Frontman Dave Davidson commented on the first track: "'Communion' is the fastest song we've recorded to date and while it's blistering in terms of speed there are also some proggy elements present to add contrast to the aggression."

Reuniting with producer Zeuss (Hatebreed, Bleeding Through), who also helmed "Deathless" and 2012's "Teratogenesis" EP, the record packs the requisite punch, yet retains the organic feel with which it was conceived.

While the songs come together to make for a cohesive record that is engaging from front to back, they are further united by the lyrical concept penned by Davidson. The title itself appropriated from Charles Darwin's quote: "If the misery of the poor be caused not by the laws of nature, but by our institutions, great is our sin," Davidson went about building a theme that was not only fittingly expansive, but also had real resonance with regard to contemporary society. "The concept revolves around the folly of man throughout the ages. Some themes come from historical references that are hundreds of years old, yet sadly these themes are still very relevant today due to mankind's refusal to learn from the lessons history has taught us, time and time again." Revocation Posts Remixed "Summon The Spawn"

Revocation will reissue the band's debut album "Empire of the Obscene" on November 13 via Metal Blade Records and today a newly remixed and remastered version of the song "Summon the Spawn" comes online.

Founding member and frontman Dave Davidson comments on the re-release: "Back in 2008 we self released our debut record 'Empire of The Obscene' only pressing 1,000 copies at the time, now thanks to the good folks at Metal Blade and the demand of our fans it will be available worldwide!

"We are very excited to finally give this record a proper release and can't wait for everyone to hear the newly remixed and remastered tunes courtesy of Pete Rutcho. We're also including the elusive 'Summon The Spawn' demo from 2006 as well as newly revamped cover art to make this release extra special." More...

Revocation Posts Drum Video

Revocation recently recruited Ash Pearson as the band's new full time drummer. To showcase Pearson's talents behind the kit, a new video has been released for "Bound By Desire" from the "Teratogenesis" EP. The video will give fans an close look at Pearson's technique and precision - watch below.

Pearson also comments: "Bound By Desire is one of my favorite Revocation songs to play on drums. There are lots of great grooves, solid double bass runs and excellent guitar solos. Here's a look at the song from a few different angles. Enjoy!"

The tour is scheduled to kick off on September 3rd in Providence, RI, with the opening acts joining the package the following day in New York, NY at the Studio at Webster Hall.
