GREEN CARNATION mainman Tchort has announced that the current line up of the band has split up:
“Although releasing the amazing concert DVD ‘A Night Under The Dam‘ earlier this year, the band felt drained of energy after the miserable organized USA tour put together by The End Records and their booking agent. The End Records being one of the main supporters of the band the last years, bringing hope back to GREEN CARNATION’s view on the music business, left the band with broken promises, huge debts, theft of license money and a poor organized tour draining the band for energy. The band doesn’t blame The End Records for all of its problems, but they made a bad situation worse by first giving the tour a green light when the conditions for the tour were doomed from the beginning and then later withdraw license money, merchandise money, merchandise and not paying the band or its sound engineer, leaving the band in debts. All of which could have been avoided by cancelling the tour before it started. The End Records lost money on the tour as well, so why it wasn’t cancelled when the contracts for the tour were offered to the label, is a unanswered question. More...
Norwegian prog metal masters GREEN CARNATION have posted the following message on their official web site:
"Warming up on Wednesday at Kick, with an all-acoustic set, GREEN CARNATION for the first time introduced their new found cooperation with Anne Marie Amedal — as a surprise to the 100-150 people that were chilling out in the heat. She contributed both on 'Transparent Me' — as on the 'Burden' EP, and she also did harmonies for the last song on the track, Stein Roger Sordal's beautiful 'The Burden is Mine...Alone'.
The set list from the acoustic showcase:
02. Sweet Leaf
03. My Greater Cause
04. Transparent Me
05. The Burden is Mine...Alone
"The following day, GREEN CARNATION played in front of more than 2000 people in their own home town, Kristiansand, here representented with Michael. The show was the first GREEN CARNATION show in their hometown for more than one year, and the feedback from both the press and the crowd was extremely good."
Commented bassist Stein Roger Sordal: "There has been so much more attention around the band this time. Mind you — we did play the Quart Festival also in 2003, after the release of the 'Blessing' album, but this was a whole new experience for us."

Norway's prog masters GREEN CARNATION are bringing their "Acoustic Verses" to the U.K.
After a successful debut concert in London last year, GREEN CARNATION will be returning to The Underworld on Thursday, August 24, 2006 as a part of a mini-tour. The gig in London will be an exclusive one for England. The already confirmed show in Dublin, Ireland has been changed to Saturday, August 26, 2006. The rest of the mini-tour will be announced shortly as there are two more dates to be confirmed.
Says singer Kjetil Nordhus, "We had a great time in London last year and got a lot of amazing feedback after the gig. So it's a pleasure to come back. Also, the show in Dublin will become something special. There are still some details remaining before we can make that official, but it's going to be a great mini-tour for the band anyway."
This will be the second year running that the band visit England and the third year visiting Ireland. Many people have underlined the Celtic influence on the band's "Acoustic Verses". "That might well be," he said. "We get influenced by a lot of different stuff, all the time. And with Ireland's proud music culture, it's hard not to be inspired. So we're definitely looking forward to return, both to England and to Ireland."

Norway's prog metal masters Green Carnation return to the music scene in 2006 on a much softer note when "The Acoustic Verses" is released January 24 th , 2006 in North America via The End Records.
"The Acoustic Verses" finds the sextet successfully maneuvering through acoustic realms, peppered with passionate guitar riffs and eloquent melodies. It's a distant step from their prog metal/hard rock ways of previous material, but in many ways, it's what you'd expect from a band like Green Carnation. Never one to stand still.
Green Carnation have changed things up again and this might send some previous listeners askew, but for the real die-hard fans of the band, they'll come to understand that with the amount of work that went into the production, lyrics and music of "The Acoustic Verses" that the music here is just as potent and expressive as any of the heavier material they have released.
The first sound-clip from Green Carnation next album, "Acoustic Verses", is now available online. The short clip is the very first available for the public, after the band has been working hard in the studio this summer. The material is so fresh, it's not been mixed or mastered. "But you could see it as a teaser for those interested in the band", singer Kjetil Nordhus says.
"Acoustic Verses" is to be released late this year on new label, SubLife Productions.
The clip, together with clips of other future SubLife releases can be found at www.sublifeproductions.com.
In other Green Carnation news, photos from the band's appearance at The Day of the Equinox in Toronto has been posted online. Pictures include those from the gigs, soundcheck, backstage and more.

After a two-month adventure in Australia, bassist Stein Roger Sordal has rejoined Norway's GREEN CARNATION. Sordal will play all currently scheduled dates with the group following their trip to Finland in November.
"I had a great time in Australia, that's for sure. But it was a long time to stay away from the band and my wife," Stein Roger explained.
Australian band THE KARMA, whose demo Sordal had previously recorded and produced at his studio in Norway, were invited by an Australian management company to do a showcase for major labels, including Warner, Sony, EMI and Universal, at the end of September. And although Stein Roger admits the showcase went very well, he is not up to speculating about the future.
"Right now I'm just happy to be back home. Hopefully there will be a deal for THE KARMA, but probably it's going to take a while before we know anything.
Stein Roger underlines the importance for him to have a rock'n roll band to play in:
"I have a big desire to play rock music, something with balls. And for me no bands are like GREEN CARNATION when it comes to that, with the versatility, the songs and the friendships within the band. I have never even thought about leaving the band, and right now I am just looking forward to what promises to be a very exiting 2006 for GREEN CARNATION."
GREEN CARNATION will spend much of next year promoting their new album, "The Accoustic Verses", which is scheduled for release in Europe in mid-January.
Norway's GREEN CARNATION have decided to dedicate 2006 to promoting their new albums by playing more live gigs, which is good news for the fans.
"We haven't been the most active live-band of all times, and we see the need for ourselves to hit the road on a more regular basis," said singer Kjetil Nordhus. "Thinking back, it's a shame that we haven't had a full European tour to promote 'The Quiet Offspring' after the fantastic reception the record has had in the press and by our fans, and we are looking to do this in 2006."
GREEN CARNATION will spend much of next year promoting their new album, "The Accoustic Verses", which is scheduled for release in Europe in mid-January.
"I think the band is made for playing live, and we'd like to catch up with what we should have done in the past," Nordhus added. "And after releasing both 'The Acoustic Verses' and the EP, 'The Burden is Mine...Alone', we certainly have enough new or almost new material to present to the audience."
Kjetil Nordhus does not rule out a possible acoustic tour, but sees the combination of acoustic and non-acoustic parts within one live set as a more likely scenario.
