Flatline Parts Ways With Guitarist Randy Weitzel

Guitarist Randy Weitzel of Los Angeles metal band Flatline has issued the following message regarding his departure from the band:

"It was with regret that I quit Flatline. Personally, Flatline was a band of brothers who had their issues at times like any other band… that is irrelevant. I made the decision to leave the band because we were not touring and there was no more label support or any more albums in our future. Flatline’s contract with Stand and Deliver was up, and the label decided not to exercise the option for 2 more years. I have a kick-ass project I am working on with some notable names in the metal biz, including members of Flatline. I have no reason to slander Matt Polena or the label, but would like the record to be set straight. Matt and Stand and Deliver have no control over any part of the current Flatline line-up, and I am proudly moving on in my own metal career.”

FLATLINE released “Pave The Way” in 2008, which was heralded as a breakthrough album in the underground world of metal.

No word yet on who will be replacing the departed Weitzel.

Flatline Posts Cannibal Corpse Cover Online

LA metal band, Flatline, has posted a new song on their MySpace page. The song is a cover of Cannibal Corpse's "Hammer Smashed Face." The cover was recorded and mixed by Josh Newell.

The band comments on their decision to do the cover, "This is one of Cannibal Corpse’s most well known and beloved song out of all of their songs. This song was originally recorded in 1992 and is on the full-length album 'The Tomb of the Mutilated.' This song was also in the movie Ace Ventura Pet Detective. We basically started messing around with it at rehearsal and thought it would be fun to record with our buddy Josh."
