Below is our complete Psychometry news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
Chad Kelly, producer and CEO of Underworld Records, recently tapped Jonathan Joubert to write and perform on Excommunicated's debut album, "Skeleton Key," which will feature members of Borknagar, Catholicon, Suture, and guest appearances form Andy La Roque (King Diamond) and Vincent Crowley (Acheron). Excommunicated commented on the album:
"Skeleton Key is a death/black metal album which tackles the corruption of the medieval Catholic church. The music is thought provoking and dark, which pulls this listener into moments of contemplative destruction. Lyrically, Skeleton Key is not your run of the mill black metal record. These guys are scholars on the subject and are meant to be taken seriously."
Jonathan Joubert also added, "I have always been a fan of black metal, though many times I find the lyrics tend to be written just to frighten parents and shock people. Excommunicated does more than shock people. It strikes at the heart of entire movement and culture that denies its history and hides its dark side. Skeleton Key is an album that sheds light on what the masses tend to overlook. I am proud to be a part of it."

Psychometry has posted a guitar instructional video online for the song "Over the Son," which can be viewed below. The band also commented:
"For all of you fans out there who play guitar we are going to be posting videos to demonstrate how many of Pyschometry's songs are played. This first installment features Justin Doan playing the first guitar part of Over the Son. By doing this we hope to show the various techniques and writing styles of the project throughout the course of Psychometry's history."
Psychometry has issued the following update about parting ways with vocalist Tareq Almulaifi:
"Tareq Almulaifi has been fired from Psychometry due to controversial, unethical business practices. After several major infractions, including being perpetually late to rehearsals and scheduled studio sessions, unprofessional behavior in front of clients and investors, and poor live performances, Psychometry’s decision became final upon discovering Mr. Almulaifi had joined online dating sites using Psychometry’s business account. Upon being confronted, Tareq fled to New York leaving the band with outstanding debt and setting back the release of The Four Points."
Founding member Jonathan Joubert states, “It is unfortunate when talented individuals fall prey to self-destructive behavior. By the end of the production, Tareq had alienated all of the composers that made this project possible. Not only did he neglect his responsibilities, miss deadlines, and misuse band funds for personal reasons, but he had become such a force of derision that he cost Psychometry investors. As hard as this decision was for all of us, it was a necessary step for Psychometry to progress to its full potential. More...
Psychometry has posted behind-the-scenes footage from "The Four Points" album, which can be viewed below. The band also commented on the footage:
"This video is meant to give insight as to what it took to make The Four Points possible. Sometimes people forget what it takes to make music come into fruition. We hope this video shows the fans what perseverance, dedication and a strong community can make happen when they work together.
"As independent musicians it is often difficult to accomplish major productions such as The Four Points. The band hopes that this video gives honest insight into The Four Points. We are working on full video productions to bring our full artistic vision to light. Psychometry would like to thank their fans and the contributors who worked closely with us."
Psychometry has issued the following announcement about guitarist Jonathan Joubert appearing in an upcoming documentary about Lousiana's music scene:
"Guitarist Jonathan Joubert was interviewed for a documentary about Louisiana's underground music scene. Miscellaneous Productions' documentary film, Cajun Hell, highlights one of Louisiana's underground punk bands, Mystic Fix. Jonathan Joubert is a veteran of Louisiana's music scene and was able to shed light on the determination of Mystic Fix to break through the barriers of Louisiana's cultural music traditions."
Jonathan also commented,"When most people think of Louisiana music they think of Zydeco, Cajun, Jazz, and Blues, but Louisiana has much more to offer the music world. It was a great opportunity to inform individuals from other parts of the country that there is, in fact, a thriving underground scene waiting to be brought to light. Heavy Metal, Funk, Punk, as well as a wide array of other genres are always forgotten about in Louisiana, but when you look just under the surface you can find every type of music the world has to offer right around the corner."

Louisiana based experimental project "Psychometry" has hired the services of Suffocation drummer Mike Smith to perform and record on their upcoming Album "The Four Points". Psychometry is an atmospheric, melodic metal band made up of professional musicians experienced in several different styles of music. The project ranges from symphonic, classical, electronic, as well as extreme underground metal. Psychometry blends a wide variety of the world's music and is formed as a collection of composers so as not to be placed into a specific genre of music.
When asked about the project, here's what Mike had to say: "The change in musical direction from the norm of Death metal is a welcome one. It gives me the opportunity to re-train myself to play with the goal of appealing to listeners of multiple genres".
