Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler has teamed with producer Josh Wilbur (Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold) to produce the new album from the band This or the Apocalypse, which is due out this Spring on Good Fight Music. This or the Apocalypse signed to LifeForce Records and released their first commercial debut, "Monuments", in September 2007 in the US and the rest of the world the following month.
Chris Adler had the following to say about the working with This or the Apocalypse on the production of their new record: “I've been wanting to produce a band other than my own for a while now, but never found one that inspired me quite enough to jump in. It's an exhaustive process to commit your creativity and focus to someone else. Most bands that are noticed today do one thing really well, or are known for a particular direction. Few combine as many elements as seamlessly as This or the Apocalypse. This record is intense to say the least. It feels like a landmark music moment. Time will tell, but I'm obviously pretty f'n psyched.”
Vocalist Ricky Armellino also commented: “Normally when you meet people in Adler's position, the last thing on their mind is finding new music or even listening to it. Chris still finds the time. He's full of music and got a ton of energy; I feel like getting him into the writing/ recording process for the new album was an incredible circumstance for us. From day one we've been shooting back and forth demos, lyric sheets, home recordings of White Lion songs and developing a lot of ideas together. Josh Wilbur's an incredible vocal producer and his recordings are organic, huge, and a cut above anything you hear in the genre, so getting him in the mix was a huge blessing for the project. These guys are family to us now and we can't wait to get this monster on the shelves.”
THIS OR THE APOCALYPSE have posted the second episode of their studio blog. The band's 'yet untitled' effort is set to be released in June 2010 via Lifeforce (Europe/ World) and newly formed label Goodfight Entertainment (North America). Watch the episode II below:
This Or The Apocalypse is currently tracking the follow up to their debut album "Monuments" (2008) for Lifeforce Records. Recording is taking place at Spin Studios in New York with Josh Wilbur (Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold) and Chris Adler (of Lamb Of God) at the helm.
Good Fight Entertainment, founded by industry veterans Paul Conroy and Carl Severson, has launched a new management company with a music and sports division, along with a new record label, Good Fight Music.
Pioneers in the hardcore and metal scenes, and former partners at Ferret Music, Warner Music and ChannelZERO, Conroy and Severson have proven track records for innovative thinking and unwavering tenacity. Their abundance of experience has taught them how to spot cutting edge talent and propel them into the spotlight. To obtain maximum visibility for its releases, Good Fight Entertainment's record label, Good Fight Music, has partnered with Sony's RED distribution, which distributed Ferret for six years before their merger with Warner's Independent Label Group. During that time, Conroy and Severson helped launch the careers of numerous hardcore and metal outfits, including Killswitch Engage, Every Time I Die, and From Autumn To Ashes, while taking the likes of In Flames, The Devil Wears Prada, Chimaira, Madball and more to previously unachieved levels of success.
"I and all at RED couldn't be more pleased to be back in business with Carl Severson and Paul Conroy and their new label, Good Fight,” says RED president Bob Morelli. “As we begin 2010 with all the challenges and opportunities that we will deal with, working with Carl and Paul gives us a better chance for success. They are on the cutting musical edge, whether it will be with their label, as managers, in touring or other entrepreneurial initiatives."
Of their new endeavor, Carl Severson states, "We've built a company that is in a unique position to rise to the challenges of the evolving music industry. We've been on the front lines as digital has become the medium of choice for music marketing and commerce and we've grown with it, embraced the opportunities it's presented. Paul, myself, our staff; we have the resolve to thrive in this climate. Good Fight Entertainment is the culmination of our experiences as artists, band members, managers, musicians and executives. We have the opportunity to work with people who believe in us as much as we believe in them. This is a very exciting time for us."
The first Good Fight Music releases, Cancer Bats’ "Bears Mayors Scraps and Bones" and Son of Aurelius’ "The Farthest Reaches," are both scheduled to be unleashed April 13. Future releases from the already substantial Good Fight family of artists will include new albums by Rosaline, I Am Abomination, This or the Apocalypse, Conditions, Madball, and the newly reunited Disembodied.
“I'm very excited and honored to be a part of Good Fight,” says Madball frontman Freddy Cricien. “I've worked with Carl and Paul for some years now. I've developed a friendship there that goes beyond business. Some say friendship and business don't mix, in this case they are wrong. We are all very passionate about music and it will translate through this new vehicle, Good Fight Entertainment. It's the next chapter and Madball is glad to be a part of the movement.”
The music management division of Good Fight Entertainment boasts an already established roster of heavyweights, including August Burns Red, Behemoth, Between the Buried and Me, Bless the Fall, Cannibal Corpse, Children of Bodom, Chiodos, Every Time I Die, Holy Grail, Job For a Cowboy, among several others. The New England Metal and Hardcore Festival will introduce an additional stage this year dedicated to up and coming bands.
The third stage, sponsored by Deathcote Records, will be located at Chasers Nightclub, located behind the Palladium on the corner of Martin Luther King and Commercial streets. The main festival will be taking place at the Palladium.
“There are so many great bands and not enough time to get all of them on during the course of two days,” said festival co-organizer Sott Lee. “Adding a third stage is a great way for us to showcase some of the developing bands and it’s a terrific opportunity for these bands to play alongside some of today’s top metal and hardcore bands.”
The New England Metal and Hardcore Festival will take place on Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18, with the Atticus pre-party on Thursday, April 16. This year’s event is presented by Randall Amplifiers, Washburn Guitars and Eden Electronics. Metal Blade Records will present the main stage. Prosthetic Records will present the second stage.
The Atticus-sponsored pre-party will be a unique event that will be combining film and music, kicking off with a screening of official film sponsor Anchor Bay's film "Crowley," co-written by none other than Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson. The provocative supernatural thriller is the tale of a virtual reality experiment gone wrong, sending the soul of the British occultist Aleister Crowley into the body of a shy university professor. But even as Crowley creates all-new orgies of depraved pleasures and black magic, he is now preparing to unleash the ultimate occult event upon the world. Also showing is "Anvil! The Story of Anvil," a sometimes revealing, sometimes hilarious documentary about the legendary Canadian metal band. The movie follows best friends Robb Reiner and Lips as they make a pact to rock together forever. Their band, Anvil, hailed as the "demi-gods of Canadian metal, " influenced a musical generation that includes Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax, despite never hitting the big time. Following a calamitous European tour, Lips and Robb, now in their fifties, set off to record their 13th album in one last attempt to fulfill their boyhood dreams. The film will be followed by a performance by the band itself. The pre-party will also be held at the Palladium. Admission is free with a weekend pass or $15 for non-ticket holders.
Prices this year are $40 for Friday, $45 for Saturday or $79 for a 2-day ticket that also includes free admission to the kick off party on Thursday. Tickets are available at all Strawberries, FYE Stores, online at tickets.com or by calling (800) 477-6849. Tickets are available now.

Lancaster, PA based metal band This Or The Apocalypse have been signed to Lifeforce Records America.
Lifeforce Records commented on the addition of This or the Apocalypse to their roster "This or the Apocalypse encompasses a sound that melds the fine PA traditions that have brought us the likes of August Burns Red, A Life Once Lost and This Day Forward while taking their musical direction to a new and uncharted height. Exhibiting a veteran-like display of confidence and focus, TOTA’s accelerated evolution redefines how bands come into their own. TOTA tightrope walks between masterfully crafted time signatures, dense rock grooves and melodic atmosphere. Their music combines the precision and technical prowess of Meshuggah with the raw, emotive urgency of Shai Hulud and Misery Signals: A sound that is loud, compelling, and unique."
Their debut album, "Monuments," is currently set for release some time in September. More...
