Hardly another period of time carries so much metal-history with it than this one. Rough, rapid and impulsive sounds dominated the whole music-industry at that time. A new band has been formed which features members from some of the biggest names in metal. The new group, named Temple Of The Black Moon, is fronted by Cradle Of Filth singer Dani Filth and also includes in it's ranks Anthrax/The Damned Things guitarist Rob Caggiano, bass player King Ov Hell (Ov Hell/Sahg/former Gorogoroth) and drummer John Tempesta, who has worked with a variety of bands including White/Rob Zombie, Exodus, Testament and The Cult, of whom is he is still a member. The band describe their sound as "a cauldron bubbling over with the unsavory flavors of Tool and Celtic Frost, and seasoned with the likes of Immortal and At The Gates."
Speaking about the name, Dani Filth commented: "We had an innumerable amount of names that never seemed likely to stick, that was until we put our proverbial heads together and narrowed it down to just three or four, and then tossed for it (proverbially of course) using a silver Norwegian crown (we couldn't find any proper money). The name Temple Of The Black Moon represents the rigorous worship of desire, (the black moon astrologically has always held association with the dark Goddess Lilith) and of course the ramifications of the lunar eclipse, always a herald for death and ill-omen."
The band has recorded almost an album's worth of material and is planning to record the songs in Bergen, Norway for a full-length album, which is expected to be released in the summer of next year.
Song titles thus far include "Infernal Desire Machine," "Don't Call Up What You Can't Put Down," "Dark Eyes For Trouble," "Beautifully Perverse," and "C.N.T (All That's Missing Is You)."

"How can I put into words how excited I am to have been asked to play with Slayer? Hard to describe for sure. Legendary band, check. Old friends since the birth of thrash metal. Check. Get to play ‘Angel Of Death’ live, priceless! I'll do my best to live up to the standard they've set for so many years, while we all wish Jeff a speedy return to health and his rightful place in Slayer."
Thrash metal veterans Slayer have announced that Exodus' Gary Holt will be joining the band as its new temporary replacement for a hospitalized Jeff Hanneman. The band commented on Jeff Hanneman's condition by saying:
"Jeff is our brother, we've all been friends and together as a band for almost 30 years so we just want him to completely recover as soon as possible. After everything that happened last year we all agreed that we just can't let our fans down again. Jeff is totally on board with this decision, so we will tour as planned. At this point, we can't pinpoint exactly what day he'll be back, but he'll be back as soon as he possibly can. And we can't wait for Jeff to get better and get his ass back on the road."
Hanneman underwent emergency surgery on his right arm late last month after contracting a serious infection. He is now recuperating at home and is expected to make a full recovery. He will return to the Slayer line-up as soon as he has fully recovered.

"This is an honest, no holds barred album containing various styles of music. In a way, it is a bit of a selfish record. We wrote the kind of material that we like. You can't please everybody, so you might as well please yourself. Honestly, that's what true art is. FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION."
