Housecore Horror Film Free Fest Kick Off Party

The second annual Housecore Horror Film Festival was a dream event for metal and horror fans alike. Iconic bands such as Voivod, Napalm Death, Danzig, Gwar and Superjoint Ritual all played phenomenal sets and then were on hand to sign autographs during organized sessions or just in the crowd watching with the rest of the fans. Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe was at the festival for a live interview following the showing of LOG’s “As the Palace Burn Documentary.” He popped up all around the fest and always made time to talk to his fans. Blythe was in the photo pit right next to me taking photos along with the rest of the photographers and journalists. Cast members from the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Part 2, including Bill Moseley, sat at tables in the court yard ready to tell stories about making the films. More...

"Dear U.S fans. We regret to inform that Satyricon will not perform at Knotfest in San Bernardino, CA and Horror Fest in Austin, TX in October 2014. The reasons for not being able to perform at these two festivals are both pragmatic ones and entirely different from each other.

"Satyricon will now shift its attention towards the writing of a new album, re-editing the footage from the 'Live at the Opera' live album/DVD and another project that will be announced at a later stage. It is important for the band that the U.S fans understand that you are far from forgotten and that the band look forward to come over for a full scale U.S tour as soon as it is possible. Master Cancels U.S. Tour

Death metal act Master, which was scheduled to kick off a U.S. tour this week with support from Lightning Swords of Death and Mobile Deathcamp, was denied entry into the country and forced to return to the Czech Republic.

Master main man Paul Speckmann issued the following statement:

"We arrived Tuesday morning in Holland and after intense questioning we proceeded to the eye and body scan machine. Along with the other passengers, we proceeded to the plane. We arrived in Detroit and went to passport control. I waited for about two hours for any word on the guys. The police came to explain that the visa waiver program didn’t apply to musicians. So they sent me to customs and proceeded to tear apart everything and sent me on my way. I waited for six hours to get on another airplane and return to Europe.

"Thankfully the lady at the Delta checkout counter was very helpful and confirmed that the guys would be on the next plane in the evening and I could return with them. The guys were escorted to the plane by four police officers and returned their passports when we arrived in Amsterdam. Since when are musicians and terrorists in the same category? Again I apologize to all the bands, organizers and fans of course. I guess the CD cover of the Human Machine CD has become a reality!”

Additional information on rescheduled dates and whether the supporting bands will be continuing the tour will be announced as details become available.

GWAR Gives New Orleans A Tour Of The Pit

GWAR is no stranger to New Orleans, they make it here about once a year. Unfortunately one of the opening bands Infenaeon could not make it to this show. They’ve had extremely bad transportation issues throughout this trek across the states and had to miss our town. But I wish them well in the future. Although it wasn’t packed gut-to-butt as usual, there was a great turn-out, and all of the crazy crowd surfers were there. More...

Bassist Todd Evans Quits Gwar

Todd Evans, talented musician and portrayer of Beefcake the Mighty, bass player for the legendary GWAR, has announced that he is leaving the band after five years of invaluable service. Yearning for his true instrument, guitar warrior Todd will continue to jam with his new group, MOBILE DEATHCAMP.

Todd was without a doubt the most physically intimidating Beefcake GWAR has ever known, and truly made the character his own with his sharp with and broad acting range.

MOBILE DEATHCAMP will reportedly hit the road this summer as one of the support acts for GREEN JELLŸ, the resurrected American comedy heavy metal/punk rock band.
