Latest Born Of Osiris News
Below is our complete Born Of Osiris news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
American deathcore act Chelsea Grin has posted the following statement online announcing the departure of Michael Stafford, the band's lead guitarist, from the group.
"Michael Stafford has recently decided that the hectic touring lifestyle is not for him, and among other personal reasons, has decided to step down as the lead guitar player for Chelsea Grin. This may have been obvious to a lot of you as he hasn’t been with us since the All Stars Tour, but he has given us his final decision recently and we must move forward.
"Jason Richardson (Born of Osiris, ex-All Shall Perish) will be filling the position until further notice. Jason is one of the best guitar players around, and with us already being such good friends, he is more than a perfect fit. 2012 is going to be huge for us, so make sure to come out and see the new and improved Chelsea Grin."
Bare Bones Music has posted a new video interview online with Born of Osiris, conducted during the band's headlining tour with Carnifex and Betraying the Martyrs. You can check out the clip below. Bare Bones Music also commented:
"Joe and Lee spoke with Evil G. about the current tour, the success and achievement of their latest record 'THE DISCOVERY' (Sumerian), the chaos of starting a new tour, moving in to a new band house and rehearing and their work on the new Asking Alexandria remix record, 'Stepped Up and Scratched.' Lee talks about giving guitar lessons on the road and the guys also discuss some new details on their next record set to start recording as soon as they get off the road and a tour to follow in the summer of 2012 and much more. PLUS Live performance footage!"

Born of Osiris has announced upcoming North American tour dates in support of the band's latest album "The Discovery." Joining Born of Osiris on this run will be Veil of Maya, Carnifex, Struc/tures and France's Betraying The Martyrs (performing in the U.S. for the very first time). The trek is set to run between November 18th and December 18th.
Lee McKinney (guitars) states: “We couldn't be more excited about 'The Discovery' headlining U.S. tour. We are going to be back in the U.S. with our good friends Veil of Maya for the first time in years. Not only are they an incredible band, they are some of our closest friends from Chicago. Also on the tour is Carnifex. They are a really heavy band and we can't wait to see what they are all about. Struc/tures and Betraying the Martyrs will be opening up the tour. These are some of Sumerian's best new bands. Struc/tures is a great progressive metal band that also has a new album coming out just before the tour on October 24th. Betraying the Martyrs has a new album out and this tour also marks their first U.S. tour to date. We are beyond stoked to be able to present you with a package you haven't seen a different version of ten times! All the bands are fresh and have new music. We'll also be playing our longest set yet. Don't miss it!”

I sadly arrived late for the show and missed all, but seven of the bands playing. Granted, I've never listened to the openers, since the majority of the bands were hardcore; a scene that I'm familiar with, but not a part of. This lead to an incredibly awkward experience, since I was immersing myself in a completely different culture.
After finishing up an upcoming interview with In This Moment, I entered the Congress Theater to watch Iwrestledabearonce. Having been chafed by Krysta Cameron's rabid parakeet screams when I saw the band play with The Dillinger Escape Plan, I was hoping that she may have improved as a vocalist during the past year on tour. Sadly, she's just as annoying as ever in a live setting, while the actual music remains unfocused, disjointed, and truly unfunny. Comedy metal can indeed work and Iwrestledabearonce should quit it with the funny sound effects and instead move on to having the humor come from their lyrics and stage presence. GWAR and Cannabis Corpse manage to be genuinely funny in an over-the-top way without annoying me because they don't bombard me with cheesy sound effects every ten seconds. It's a shame that Iwrestledabearonce still don’t comprehend taste and only make music for their own amusement instead of that of their highly annoyed audience.
In This Moment were up next and I have to say that ITM put on a great show. Maria's voice simply works better in a live setting than it does in the studio and it's a shame that they went from headlining to only playing five songs after only a few short months. Much like my experience with Warbringer and Job For a Cowboy, In This Moment won me over in the live arena. The fact that they put on such a great performance was sadly probably wasted on playing for a hardcore crowd who didn't appreciate their music, since much of the audience had left the venue during their set.
Next up was For Today, who I'd never listened to before, but managed to put on a good show despite being pretty generic modern hardcore. While the band doesn’t break any new ground or do much to stand out, they don't annoy me as much as most contemporary hardcore does. If I were more into the neo post-hardcore scene, I'd probably give the band a few more listens. Still, they're good for what they are and anyone into contemporary hardcore should give them a shot. Lee McKinney (guitars) states: “The European run was a blast. We met some amazing people, not only in the bands we toured with and met for the first time (Protest The Hero, Purified in Blood), but also the fans that came to see us. It was also great being over there with Darkest Hour. We've known those guys for a long time, so it was almost like a vacation with friends. Being our second time in Europe, we got to witness first hand how our fan base overseas grew, and thats always awesome to see.

Born of Osiris has announced that the band's new album "The Discovery" is set for a March 22nd release and the new track, “Follow The Signs,” is available exclusively at iTunes here. The new album's artwork can also be viewed through the band's MySpace profile at this location.
Lee McKinney (guitars) states: "The track, 'Follow The Signs' is a song we've done a lot of experimenting with. We recorded it a couple different times, once in demo form with Misha Mansoor of Periphery, and once again on The Discovery. This version has a different structure than we originally planned for, but we like the way it has progressed. It's one of the more straight forward songs on the album, and the ending gives an idea of how we've stepped up the guitar work for this effort. We look forward to hearing your thoughts on it. Enjoy."
